One morning the Italian man was hung over a ledge and threatened with death if he did not provide his Bitcoin password, court documents also show.
According to authorities, the victim was finally able to escape when Woeltz left the room to get the man's laptop. That's when the Italian man ran outside, covered in blood, and flagged down a traffic agent who called 911, investigators say.
During a search of the apartment, authorities found a saw, drugs, wire, pictures of the victim with the cocaine pipe in his mouth and a firearm pointed to his head along with various other items that appeared to be used in the torturing. Law enforcement also saw blood in various areas in the apartment where the victim said he was being tortured.
Woeltz, a Kentucky native, was found to have the means to flee including a private jet and helicopter, prompting court officials to have his passport revoked.
He is charged with assault, kidnapping, and unlawful imprisonment and could face 15 to 25 years in prison if convicted.

Boy, 17, shot — possibly by Citi Bike-riding gunman — hours after 2 other teens hurt in gun violence: cops
A 17-year-old boy was shot — possibly by a Citi Bike-riding gunman — outside a Bronx housing development Thursday night, hours after two other boys his age were struck by gunfire in the borough, cops said. The teen was blasted in the hip as he walked on the grounds of NYCHA's Forest Houses on Trinity Avenue near East 165th Street in Longwood just before 10 p.m., police said. He was taken to Harlem Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. The suspect fled southbound on Trinity Avenue, possibly on a Citi Bike, cops said. The violence came several hours after two 17-year-old boys — both apparent innocent bystanders — were shot and wounded around 1:20 p.m. at East 176th Street and Anthony Avenue in the Mount Hope neighborhood, police said. One of the teens was shot in the right arm, the other in the neck, police and sources said. Neither boy appeared to be the intended target of the shooter, but were struck in the crossfire, based on preliminary details, sources said. Both were taken to Columbia University Irving Medical Center, where they were listed in stable condition, police said. Neither victim has a criminal history, and they were shot from a distance, according to the sources. The 37-year-old mother of the boy struck in the arm, who declined to share her name, told The Post Friday that she is 'nerve-wrecked' by the violence. 'I'm grateful my son came home, I'm grateful my son is alive, he is functioning, no brain damage, he can walk, he can talk, he can still wipe his own butt,' she said. 'As far as we are concerned, we are blessed. 'I don't believe he or his friends have any enemies around here. It's not like there was a fight going on or any altercation going on.' Now, the still-stunned mom said she is planning on keeping her son in the safety of their home. 'From the looks of things, it doesn't seem like he is going to be outside,' she said. 'I feel like he is safer inside.' The troubling violence comes just days after NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch revealed that youth violence has skyrocketed in the Big Apple — and placed the blame on the state's contentious 'Raise the Age' law.

Man sentenced to 394 years after raping, torturing elderly woman
The Brief Ian Edard Kroe was sentenced to 394 years to life after being convicted of the repeated rape, torture, and imprisonment of a 74-year-old woman for two years. During the two-year ordeal, Kroe emptied the unnamed woman's bank accounts and refused to let her out of a hotel room, the LA Times reported. At the sentencing, the woman said despite all she endured, she "survived beyond all odds." BELMONT, Calif. - A man who held an elderly woman as his prisoner for two years throughout multiple states was sentenced to nearly 400 years in prison on Tuesday. Ian Edard Kroe was denied probation and instead sentenced to 394 years to life after being convicted of the repeated rape, torture, and imprisonment of a 74-year-old woman for two years, the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office said. The 57-year-old was arrested in 2022 by Belmont police officers. The victim was not named. In February, the DA's office said Kroe raped the victim on multiple occasions in addition to threatening her. He would also feign illness throughout the trial to delay the process, officials said. Kroe was convicted of 33 felonies tied to the rape, torture, and imprisonment of the woman. At the sentencing, the woman said despite all she endured, she "survived beyond all odds." Dig deeper The victim and Kroe were acquainted with each other before Kroe "suddenly [turned] into a beast," San Mateo County DA Steve Wagstaffe said. Wagstaffe told KTVU that Kroe was arrested in Belmont at the Hyatt House hotel in 2022. According to the Los Angeles Times, the victim was eventually able to escape after secretly getting in touch with a friend in New Mexico, where she's from. During the two-year ordeal, Kroe emptied her bank accounts and refused to let her out of the hotel room, the LA Times reported. "Throughout the trial the defendant called the victim a liar. We are pleased the jury concluded the defendant was the liar and the victim was believed in her entire testimony," Wagstaffe said.
