It's officially the end of an era. Early this morning, Jonathan Anderson announced that he is leaving his post as creative director of Loewe, a position which he's held for the past 11 years.
Throughout his decade-plus tenure, Anderson has not only made Loewe one of the most profitable brands in the business, but also one of the most thrilling. The Northern Ireland-born designer reinvented the codes of the once-quiet Spanish luxury house and infused a sense of whimsy and unbridled creativity. To wit, the Loewe puzzle bag, a heel fashioned into a small balloon, and a dress with a giant needle poking through the front just to name a small few triumphs. He is a designer who challenges us to think about fashion in a different way, to wear clothes as a radical act of expressiveness.
Not to mention, he's made fans of countless celebrities and collaborated on numerous film projects, helping to make Loewe a crucial part of the zeitgeist. He's also championed artisans with his founding of the Loewe Foundation Craft Prize, and teamed up with partners for charitable collaborations, proving that his dedication to art and community knows no bounds.
Of course, we certainly count ourselves fans here at Harper's Bazaar, and ahead, our editors have rounded up their favorite moments from Anderson's Loewe years. From Rihanna's Super Bowl performance to the Challengers press tour and more, scroll ahead to see our personal highlights. It's hard to imagine a better celebrity ambassador for Jonathan Anderson's Loewe than the understatedly cool Taylor Russell. The actor matches the cheeky whimsy of Anderson's creations with her own infectious energy, and that soulmate pairing was never more apparent than when she made her Met Gala debut this year in a gown with a molded high-neck bodice—complete with a trompe l'oeil wooden pattern and a trailing white skirt that draped elegantly over her figure. – Chelsey Sanchez, EditorThe special magic of Jonathan Anderson's Loewe is that it feels otherworldly. It's transformative because it's fun. It makes you laugh like your favorite film as you tilt your head to try and understand if the patterns really are blurry or if the pants are really as impossibly high as you imagine. And so of course Anderson would lend his talents to a film's costume department to help bring fiction to life. His designs were perfect for Challengers because the film was as twisted and hot as his work. It was weird but alluring in the most perfect way. And who else can make a simple gray shirt that says 'I Told Ya' as instantly desirable as Anderson? - Tara Gonzalez, former Senior Fashion EditorAnderson's final collection for Loewe was, in many ways, a love letter to the purity of craft (also an incredibly memorable moment in his career of course). He is a creative director who has always led with ideas and with the handmade, rather than logos, trends, or formulaic marketing strategies. And it's too tough to pick just one thing, one show, one red carpet moment. Anderson loves fashion and design but above all else he loves the handmade, which is why he launched The Loewe Craft Prize in 2017. For a brand in revival-mode back then, it was a bold gesture to put focus and resources towards empowering independent makers around the world, mainly those that exist outside the realm of fashion. But that's just it: for Anderson, fashion isn't just about a garment, it's about the intention behind the thing and the human hand that made it. That's been the magic of his Loewe and will be the legacy he leaves behind. – Brooke Bobb, Fashion News DirectorJonathan celebrated his 10-year anniversary at the helm of Loewe with a stand-out collection. His spring 2025 collection featured a group of stunning floral chiffon gowns with circular crinolines that bounced as the models walked down the runway. One was more stunning than the next. He also paid tribute to how music reminded us of special times in our lives, with reimagined 'concert tees' for Mozart and Bach, which were made entirely out of feathers. It was a memorable collection, which was his last for the brand. – Nicole Fritton, Executive Fashion DirectorIs there a better, more organically fabulous pairing than Greta Lee and Jonathan Anderson's Loewe? I think not. Whether she's gracing the front row of a fashion show or commanding your eyes on the red carpet during awards season, Lee is one of a handful of celebrities who really made Anderson's work sing. The black and white draped gown she wore for the 2024 Oscars is a personal favorite, showing off the duo's joint malleability as designer and muse. – Bianca Betancourt, Culture EditorI thought it was impossible for Rihanna performing at the Super Bowl to be any more iconic than it already was…and then she showed up wearing custom Loewe and announced her pregnancy. It essentially brought a whole new meaning to the word iconic. – TGTo me, his interest in pushing the limits while embracing the traditions of craftsmanship is one thing that has always set his accessories apart. They were as beautiful as they were functional and always had an artistic flair and an almost childlike playfulness to them. The perfect example is when I saw the Puzzle bag for the first time at the Fall 2015 show. You knew you were seeing the birth of an icon. – Miguel Enamorado, Accessories DirectorIs it real or is it fake? Jonathan Anderson enjoys playing tricks on the mind and I love it. His infusion of surrealism and trompe l'oeil moments into his collections at Loewe over the years has made his shows a fan favorite among the industry. For his Spring/Summer 2023 collection, I especially loved his incorporation of the Anthurium flower taking center stage in the form of fantastical tops and dresses. It injected a vibrant electricity of color throughout that was refreshing and delightful. It was a feast for the eyes. – Julie Tong, Senior Commerce Content LeadThere's no other word to describe the appearance of Dame Maggie Smith in Loewe's Spring 2024 campaign than iconic. Not only did the photos personify beauty at every age (she was 88 at the time), but also Anderson's prolific vision for the future of Loewe. – Tiffany Dodson Davis, Beauty Commerce EditorThere was something magical about what Jonathan did every season when it came to accessories. Before the Barbie movie press tour lore, there were the doll shoes in his Spring 2023 collection. They were a testament to his effortless way of making something so classic feel playful. — Jaclyn Alexandra Cohen, Senior Fashion & Accessories EditorEach one of Jonathan Anderson's presentations for Loewe feels like such a triumph that it's hard to pick a favorite—but for me, the Fall 2024 ready-to-wear show really stands above the rest. Ever since this collection came out, I'm convinced I didn't understand the meaning of beading before its unveiling. Maybe I didn't even know what beads were. Not only was his use of the material so beautiful and vibrant, but it was a celebration of timeless craftsmanship. From the hand-sewn details to the dynamic silhouettes and the flora and fauna decorating many pieces, the collection felt so alive. One of Anderson's biggest contributions to the fashion world is his ability to craft pieces that feel accessible but make you question everything you know about fashion. With this show, he did just that and more. I'll be pining for one of those beaded asparagus bags for the rest of my life. – Joel Calfee, Assistant EditorWhen Beyonce went on tour, she wore not one but two custom Loewe looks. Both were covered in all-over high-shine crystals; one in silver with a matching curved breastplate and another with surrealist trompe l'oeil hand motifs grabbing around the body. Anderson was inspired by the 'escapist joy' of her Renaissance album and created two stand-out concert outfit moments fit for Beyonce and Beyonce only. It's not often that runway-inspired pieces work on stage, but Anderson's Loewe felt perfectly made for her special high-glam universe. –TG

FC Barcelona And Poland's Ewa Pajor Leads World's Goalscorers In 2025
BELFAST, NORTHERN IRELAND - MAY 30: Ewa Pajor of Poland celebrates scoring her team's first goal ... More during the UEFA Women's Nations League 2024/25 Grp B1 MD5 match between Northern Ireland and Poland at Seaview on May 30, 2025 in Belfast, Northern Ireland. (Photo by) After a record-breaking season at FC Barcelona, Poland's Ewa Pajor is the leading female goalscorer in the world during the calendar year of 2025 going into June. According to The International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS), the 28-year-old has scored 29 goals in all competitions so far this year. This puts her two goals ahead of last year's winner of the award, Charlyn Corral of Pachuca, who has scored 26 goals during the first five months of 2025. Pajor's 29 goals also put her level with the leading male goalscorer in the world so far this year, Kylian Mbappé of Real Madrid. This means, going into June, no player on the planet has scored more times than Pajor. Pajor joined Barcelona from VfL Wolfsburg last June on a three-year contract. During her first season in Spain, she scored a total of 43 goals in all competitions, outscoring her much-vaunted Polish compatriot in the men's side, Robert Lewandowski, who scored 42 times. Her season total for Barcelona is 15 more than she has scored in any previous season during her career. The 43 goals, scored in just 46 matches, is also just short of the record for the FC Barcelona women's team, four fewer than the 47 scored in 40 games by former striker Jenni Hermoso scored during the 2016/17 season. However, despite winning the league title in Spain, the one domestic club trophy missing from Pajor's collection continues to elude her. The Polish striker lost four Champions League finals in her time at Wolfsburg, the last of them against Barcelona in 2023. One of her main motivations in joining the three-time winners was to become a European champion herself saying "the Champions League is something special, something I want to win but it's not my obsession." LISBON, PORTUGAL - MAY 24: Ewa Pajor of Barcelona dejected after their loss waling past the trophy ... More during the UEFA Women's Champions League final match between Arsenal WFC and FC Barcelona at Estadio Jose Alvalade on May 24, 2025 in Lisbon, Portugal. (Photo by Daniela Porcelli/Sports) Pajor scored seven goals in ten games to help Barcelona reach a fifth successive Champions League final. Yet, once again, she finished as a runner-up, losing 1-0 to Arsenal in Lisbon, the fifth time she was suffered defeat in the Champions League final. Nevertheless, Pajor could help Barcelona complete a domestic treble this weekend by winning the Copa de la Reina final against Atlético de Madrid. It would be 10th season in a row in which Pajor has won a domestic cup competition. Next month, her country's all-time leading goalscorer, Pajor will lead Poland into their first-ever senior international tournament in the UEFA Women's Euro. Corral was the leading female goalscorer in the world at the end of 2024 with 44 goals in all competitions and has already scored at a higher rate in 2025. With 21 goals in the regular season, her five strikes in the Clausura play-offs helped Pachuca win their first league title last month. (Photo by Victor Cruz / AFP) (Photo by VICTOR CRUZ/AFP via Getty Images) However, the Mexican striker has not represented her national team this year and has been unable to add to the 26 goals she has scored for Pachuca. This has proved crucial as Pajor has 25 goals for Barcelona and has moved ahead of Corral due to the four she has scored for the Polish national team, including two against Northern Ireland in Belfast last week. Elsewhere on the list, Kateřina Svitková of Slavia Praha sits in third place with 25 goals in all competitions. 24-year-old Jaimy Ravensbergen of FC Twente has scored 24, all for her club side. She is four ahead of England's Katie Wilkinson in fifth position with 20 goals playing in Scotland for Glasgow Rangers. Pajor is remarkably one of five FC Barcelona players to feature on the top thirty of the list of leading female goalscorers in 2025. She is ahead of Claudia Pina (15) who added another two in Spain's win over England this week, Salma Paralleulo (14), Aitana Bonmatí and Alexia Putellas (both on 12 goals).

5 best Ana de Armas movies to stream right now
In the 10 years since she made her English-language film debut, Cuban-born actress Ana de Armas has become one of Hollywood's top rising stars, moving from supporting roles to lead parts in blockbusters and awards contenders. Even in her earliest appearances in American films, including Eli Roth's trashy thriller 'Knock Knock' and the rote boxing biopic 'Hands of Stone,' she makes a strong impression with limited screen time. She's gone on to star in big-budget streaming movies like Netflix's 'The Gray Man' (with Chris Evans and Ryan Gosling) and Apple TV Plus' 'Ghosted' (with Evans again). Now she's taking her career to the next level as the title character in 'Ballerina,' a spin-off of the hugely popular 'John Wick' movies, hitting theaters June 6. Here are five Ana de Armas movies to check out before watching 'Ballerina." As the seemingly timid nurse to wealthy novelist Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer), de Armas is the stealth heroine of writer-director Rian Johnson's clever murder mystery. At first, de Armas' Marta appears overwhelmed by Harlan's obnoxious family members, following his mysterious death. But even when she becomes the target of their suspicions, Marta maintains her integrity and compassion, finding an understanding ally in renowned detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig). In a cast full of major stars — including Jamie Lee Curtis, Chris Evans, Don Johnson, Toni Collette and Michael Shannon as Harlan's extended family — de Armas emerges as the most engaging presence, and Marta provides the story's anchor. Craig may have gone on to solve more mysteries as Benoit Blanc, but he's not the only one who makes a lasting impression. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. Watch on Prime Video The decades-later sequel to sci-fi classic 'Blade Runner' explores the intersection between humanity and artificial life, placing de Armas in the middle of that divide as Joi, the holographic girlfriend of android protagonist K (Ryan Gosling). K is a blade runner, which means that he hunts down his fellow replicants when they go rogue. His latest assignment puts him on the trail of a conspiracy, which leads him to former blade runner Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford). Joi functions as a sounding board and support system for K, but she's not just a glorified assistant. She has needs and desires of her own, even if she can never physically touch her lover. One of the movie's most affecting scenes involves Joi employing a replicant surrogate so that she and K can have sex, and de Armas beautifully expresses that sense of longing and frustration. Rent/buy at Apple or Amazon De Armas shows up for just one extended sequence in Daniel Craig's final movie as superspy James Bond, but she gives the somewhat bloated movie a jolt of energy and leaves the audience wanting more once she disappears. She plays Paloma, a rookie CIA agent sent by Bond's American ally Felix Leiter (Jeffrey Wright) to aid him on a mission in Cuba. While Bond is suave, confident and sometimes overly serious, Paloma is exuberant and a bit nervous, but she proves to be resourceful when the moment arises. De Armas shows off her charisma and her skills as an action hero, and Paloma looks like a prime candidate for a potential spin-off. That probably won't happen in the current Bond era, but 'No Time to Die' offers a glimpse into de Armas' future ability to carry an action franchise. Rent/buy at Apple or Amazon De Armas brings nuance and heartfelt emotion to a fairly thankless role in director Todd Phillips' fact-based dramedy about a pair of friends who become unlikely international arms dealers. De Armas plays the concerned wife of David Packouz (Miles Teller), an aimless dreamer who seems to find his calling when he reconnects with his childhood best friend Efraim Diveroli (Jonah Hill) and is introduced to the shady world of contract bidding for the Department of Defense. Although de Armas' Iz spends most of her time sitting at home worrying about David's safety and getting angry about his lies, de Armas effectively conveys the anguish and frustration of Iz's position, grounding the story in a familiar dynamic. As David and Efraim travel around the world, getting themselves deeper and deeper into trouble, Iz provides a sensible, relatable counterpoint to the mayhem. Rent/buy at Apple or Amazon Director Andrew Dominik's fictionalized biopic about Marilyn Monroe is a bit of a disastrous mess, with bold stylistic experiments that mostly don't pay off. One aspect that Dominik gets right, though, is casting de Armas as the troubled movie star, whose beauty most likely prevented her from getting the respect she sought as an artist. Although the filmmaker puts his protagonist through nearly as much torture as she endured from the actual people in her life, de Armas maintains her poise and vulnerability in a sensitive and empathetic performance that earned her an Oscar nomination. The movie is often tough to watch, but it shows the depth and range that de Armas can bring to a role — which she deserves to showcase in a project more worthy of her talents. Watch on Netflix
