Tesla arson suspect arrested in Arizona after fiery assault on Cybertruck
Police in Arizona arrested a suspected arsonist at a Tesla dealership after he allegedly lit a newly delivered Cybertruck on fire.
Mesa police responded just before 2:00 a.m. on Monday, April 28, to reports of an explosion at the Tesla Service Center in Mesa, Ariz.
Witnesses reported smoke and flames near the building, which officers determined were coming from a newly delivered Tesla Cybertruck.
Footage from Fox News affiliate, KSAZ-TV, captured federal and state law enforcement surrounding the Tesla dealership after the fire was put out.

The arson suspect, identified by local police as 35-year-old Ian Moses, allegedly wrote "THEIF" (sic) on the side of the dealership before setting the Cybertruck on fire.

The footage captured the charred electric truck as investigators taped off the scene. No injuries were reported.
During their investigation, police said they noticed a suspicious van parked nearby and observed a man riding a bicycle approaching and opening the van's door. Officers immediately contacted the individual and identified the suspect.
Investigators were able to match Moses to security photos captured by the Tesla Security Center during the incident. He was arrested and booked into jail for one count of arson of a structure and property.

The Mesa Police Department announced that it is collaborating with federal authorities, and additional charges against Moses are pending as the investigation continues.
This arrest comes amid a broader national movement targeting Musk's companies, driven by activists protesting the billionaire's involvement with the Trump administration.

In March, Attorney General Pam Bondi announced that the Department of Justice would pursue federal charges against vandalizers.
"The swarm of violent attacks on Tesla property is nothing short of domestic terrorism," she said. "We will continue investigations that impose severe consequences on those involved in these attacks, including those operating behind the scenes to coordinate and fund these crimes."
Officials have urged anyone with additional information about the suspected arson incident to come forward as the investigation continues.

Chinese student arrested for allegedly smuggling undeclared biological materials seen in new mugshot
Authorities have released a mugshot of the Chinese national accused of smuggling undeclared biological material into the United States. Chengxuan Han was initially scheduled to appear in federal court Wednesday to face charges of smuggling goods into the U.S. and making false statements, according to court documents obtained by Fox News Digital. However, her detention hearing was cut short after her court-appointed attorney requested more time due to "some additional matters pertinent to the issue of bond." Han is a citizen of the People's Republic of China (PRC) and Ph.D. student at Wuhan's College of Life Science and Technology in the Huazhong University of Science and Technology, according to the Department of Justice (DOJ). Han is the third Chinese national arrested this month for allegedly smuggling items into the U.S. University of Michigan post-doctoral research fellow Yunqing Jian and her boyfriend, Zunyong Liu, were arrested after allegedly bringing an "agroterrorism agent" into the U.S. to study at a University of Michigan laboratory. Chinese Phd Student From Wuhan Arrested Smuggling Biological Materials After Deleting Electronic Evidence: Doj From September 2024 to March 2025, authorities allege Han mailed four packages containing undeclared biological material to individuals working in the University of Michigan's laboratory, according to the criminal complaint. During the search, Han allegedly told officers she did not mail packages to the laboratory, before eventually admitting she had sent them when pressed by authorities. Han initially told CBP officers the packages contained plastic cups – not petri dishes – and a book, according to court documents. Chinese Official Claims No Knowledge Of Fungus Situation, Says China Requires Citizens 'Abide By Local Laws' "Biological samples, such as plasmids, are often placed within a book and manifested only as a book for shipment, as a means of concealment from U.S. Customs," the complaint said. Han's attorney did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment. Upon being confronted by officials, Han allegedly confessed to sending packages containing roundworm-related biomaterials. CBP officers also discovered the content on Han's electronic devices had been deleted three days before she arrived in the U.S. Following the inspection, the FBI and Homeland Security officials spoke with Han. During the conversation, Han allegedly admitted to previously making false statements to CBP officers and acknowledged she sent the packages. "The alleged smuggling of biological materials by Chengxuan Han is a direct threat to public safety and national security, and it severely compromises the integrity of our nation's research institutions." The FBI did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment. "The alleged smuggling of biological materials by this alien from a science and technology university in Wuhan, China—to be used at a University of Michigan laboratory – is part of an alarming pattern that threatens our security," U.S. Attorney Jerome Gorgon said in a statement. "The American taxpayer should not be underwriting a PRC-based smuggling operation at one of our crucial public institutions." Han is scheduled to appear in court for a detention hearing on June 13. Prior to moving to the U.S., Wen met with officials from North Korea's government at the country's embassy in China, where he was directed to obtain the items on behalf of North Korea. Nearly 10 years later, North Korean government officials directed Wen via an online messaging app to procure firearms and sensitive technology to be smuggled to North Korea through China. Wen used money from a North Korean contact to purchase many of the firearms in Texas before driving them back to California to be shipped, according to the DOJ. By December 2023, one of the shipments departed the Port of Long Beach and arrived in Hong Kong one month later, with it eventually arriving in North Korea. Wen also obtained sensitive technology to send to North Korea, according to prosecutors. The technology consisted of a handheld broadband receiver that detects known, unknown, illegal, disruptive or interfering transmissions and a chemical threat identification device. He also looked to acquire a civilian airplane engine and thermal imaging system to be mounted on a drone or aircraft for target identification. The entire scheme cost North Korean officials approximately $2 million in wire transfers to Wen, with the funds being used to procure firearms and other goods for the government. Wen faces a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison for both charges and is scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 18. (Photo by) The Wisconsin Democracy Campaign is suing billionaire Elon Musk over allegations that he violated multiple state laws, including the election bribery statute, when he offered voters a potential $1 million award for signing a petition as part of his effort to sway the result of Wisconsin's April Supreme Court election. Represented by Wisconsin's Law Forward, Democracy Defenders Fund and New York-based law firm Hecker Fink, the lawsuit accuses the world's richest man of implementing 'a brazen scheme to bribe Wisconsin citizens to vote.' Musk and his political action committee, America PAC, played a major role in this spring's election becoming the most expensive judicial campaign in American history. Musk's involvement in the race, which came as he was leading President Donald Trump's cost-cutting initiatives and firing thousands of federal employees through the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), was widely seen as causing a backlash and helping Dane County Judge Susan Crawford defeat Musk-backed Waukesha County Judge Brad Schimel. Musk and his PAC spent more than $20 million on the race. Prior to the election, America PAC offered voters $100 if they signed a petition 'in opposition to activist judges,' and another $100 if they referred another voter to sign the petition. Later, at a pre-election rally in Green Bay, Musk handed out two $1 million checks to voters, which had been advertised as awards 'in appreciation for you taking the time to vote.' The lawsuit, filed in Dane County court, notes it is against the law to offer anyone more than $1 to induce them to go to the polls, vote or vote for a particular candidate. 'By offering and paying Wisconsin citizens amounts far greater than $1 to vote, Defendants violated Wisconsin's election bribery law,' the lawsuit states. 'Defendants' payments and offers of payment to Wisconsin voters, made with the clear intent to aid one candidate and induce Wisconsinites to vote, threatened the integrity of the election and damaged public confidence in the electoral system.' Jeff Mandell, Law Forward's general counsel, said the lawsuit was meant to prevent efforts like Musk's from becoming a regular occurrence. 'We are fighting for free and fair elections,' Mandell said. 'We believe our democracy demands better than schemes like the one detailed in our complaint. So, we are working to hold Musk accountable and stop this from becoming the new normal.'
