Eight arrested over conspiracy to destroy Ulez cameras
A co-ordinated operation conducted by the force has seen six men and two women arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit criminal damage.
One of the men is also alleged to have been involved in threatening and harassing the team sent to repair a damaged camera.
The Met made the arrests at addresses in London, Windsor and on the Isle of Sheppey in the early hours of Wednesday.
The London arrests took place in Uxbridge, Ickenham, Northwood, Sutton and Eltham.
Those arrested remain in custody.
Searches are ongoing at the addresses but officers say they have already recovered items related to the alleged offending.
Superintendent Paul Thomas, of the Met's Roads and Transport Policing Command, said: 'There is a big difference between lawful protest and plotting to destroy or seriously damage property.
'Some may think of this sort of behaviour as a victimless crime, but when cameras are damaged or destroyed it creates dangerous hazards, risking collisions on the road in addition to disruption for motorists and residents.
'We take these offences very seriously and officers will continue working closely with Transport for London and other partners to identify and build a case against those responsible.
'Today's arrests are a significant development in what has been a long and complex investigation that is not yet over.
'I would appeal to anyone who has information about plans to target Ulez cameras to come forward.'

Ex-Janus Henderson analyst jailed in UK for six years for insider dealing
LONDON (Reuters) -A former Janus Henderson analyst was sentenced to six years in prison on Friday for using confidential information on companies, including Daimler, Jet2 and THG to make nearly 1 million pounds ($1.4 million) following a London court trial. Redinel Korfuzi, 38, used information he accessed through his job as a research analyst at the asset manager to place bets alongside his sister Oerta Korfuzi, 36. The siblings pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit insider dealing and money laundering between January 2019 and March 2021, but were convicted last month after a trial at Southwark Crown Court. Judge Alexander Milne sentenced Redinel Korfuzi to six years in jail and Oerta Korfuzi, who had an investment and finance qualification, to five years, saying the pair were "intelligent and financially aware individuals" whose actions were a "betrayal of trust". Janus Henderson, which manages roughly $380 billion in assets, was not involved in the criminal case or accused of any wrongdoing. A spokesperson said when the Korfuzis were convicted: "The protection of confidential information is extremely important to Janus Henderson and the firm treats any actual or suspected misuse of confidential information with the utmost seriousness." Prosecutor Tom Forster told jurors at the start of the trial in February that Redinel and Oerta Korfuzi used lockdown restrictions imposed from March 2020 to carry out the conspiracy from the London flat they shared. Forster added that the defendants made a profit of around 963,000 pounds in relation to 11 companies' shares in just over six months. Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault
Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault, the Metropolitan Police said on Friday. The alleged assaults are reported to have taken place between 2021 and 2022, according to the police. Partey, 32, is charged with two counts of rape to one woman, three to a second and one count of sexual assault to a third. Partey's lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire, told CNN that Partey 'denies all the charges against him' and 'welcomes the opportunity to finally clear his name.' 'Our priority remains providing support to the women who have come forward,' detective superintendent Andy Furphy, who is leading the investigation, said in a Metropolitan Police statement.
