Team India has been hit hard by injuries on the ongoing England tour, with troubles compounding. After Rishabh Pant's finger injury in the 3rd Test at Lord's, another injury has been reported in the Indian squad. This time, a bowler - not Jasprit Bumrah - is injured. However, uncertainty about Bumrah's status continues.
Arshdeep Singh, who was awaiting his chance in the tour, has incurred a cut on his bowling hand and will likely be ruled out for the 4th Test against England. The 26-year-old sustained the injury during a training session on Thursday. Arshdeep was reportedly hit by the ball while trying to stop a powerful strike by Sai Sudarshan on his follow-through. The player's hand has been stitched, and he's unlikely to be fit to play.
STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD
'He has stitches on his hand and is likely won't be available for the fourth Test match, the Indian team will see if he is ready for the fifth Test or not,' as per The Indian Express.
Meanwhile, there is still uncertainty about Akash Deep's availability due to a groin issue. Akash Deep didn't bowl in a nets session held by the Indian team before heading to Manchester.

India's assistant coach confirms Arshdeep's injury
Arshdeep Singh was not given a chance in the series, but he was in the reckoning to feature in the playing XI of the 4th Test.
India's assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate had said: 'Arshdeep took a ball while he was bowling there, Sai hit a ball, and he tried to stop it, and it's just a cut. So we have to see how bad the cut is. Obviously, the medical team have taken him off to see a doctor, and obviously, if he needs stitches or doesn't need stitches, it's going to be important to our planning for the next few days.'

Must-win game for Team India
After ending the Lord's Test on a losing note, Team India trails 1-2 in the series. The 4th Test, which will be the penultimate of the series, can bring India back on track and could also hand the hosts an unassailable lead. Hence, it is a must-win game for the visitors, and the need of the hour is for the management to pick the strongest XI. It has been an enthralling affair so far, and one could assert that had India capitalised on some massive moments, then the score line could have hinted at an advantage towards India. Nonetheless, the team still carries the ability to bounce back and will have to come out all guns blazing at Old Trafford on July 23.

IND vs ENG: Shubman Gill creates history, breaks Virat Kohli's record by...

Shubman Gill in action at Manchester Test. (PIC - PTI) New Delhi: The England tour is Shubman Gill's first Test series as captain and he has broken many records in this series. On Saturday, he created history by breaking Virat Kohli's record in India's second innings in the ongoing fourth Test at Old Trafford in Manchester. What record did Shubman Gill break? Breaking Virat Kohli's record, he has become the Indian captain to score the most runs in a Test series against England. During the India-England Test series in 2016, Kohli played a total of five matches and scored 655 runs with the help of two centuries and two half-centuries. What's happening at the Manchester Test? Gill, who scored only 12 runs in the first innings of the Manchester Test, needed 37 runs in the second innings to overtake Kohli and he achieved this by hitting a four off Jofra Archer in the 17th over during the second session of the fourth day's play. Yashasvi Jaiswal holds the overall record for scoring the most runs for India in a Test series against England. During the five-match Test series between India and England in 2024, Jaiswal scored a total of 712 runs in five matches. Gill will have to score 55 more runs in the current match to break Jaiswal's record and achieve the number 1 position. Whose record is Shubman Gill chasing? Sunil Gavaskar holds the record of the Indian captain scoring the most runs in a Test series. During the India-West Indies Test series in 1978-79, Gavaskar played six matches and scored 732 runs. To break this record, Gill will have to score at least 114 runs in the second innings of the current Test. Gill scored a double century and two centuries in the first two Test matches of the current series against England. He has scored a half-century in the second innings of the Manchester Test.

Asia Cup in UAE from September 9 to 28, India-Pakistan clash on September 14

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will host the Asia Cup, to be played in T20 format, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from September 9 to 28. The marquee match between India and Pakistan — both placed in Group A — will be played on September 14. If the two sides advance to the Super 4s and win the rest of their matches, their next meeting will be in the final. This will be the first match between India and Pakistan after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, in which 26 civilians were killed. Subsequently, Operation Sindoor was conducted by the Indian armed forces in Pakistan against terror emanating from that country. The two sides were slated to meet in the Women's Asia Cup for emerging players last month. However, the BCCI withdrew from the tournament in the aftermath of the terror attacks and the consequent escalation in hostilities. The Indian cricket board even threatened the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) to shift their annual meeting from Dhaka to another country. It is learnt that they warned other countries not to attend the meeting in the Bangladeshi capital. However, with the BCCI officials and Sri Lanka Cricket chiefs attending the meeting through video conferencing earlier this week, the schedule for the September event was finalised. Recently, a senior sports ministry official said the government will not stop India from playing against Pakistan in multi-nation tournaments. Confirming the dates and the host nation for the Asia Cup, ACC president Mohsin Naqvi, also the Pakistan Cricket Board president, posted on X: 'I am delighted to confirm the dates for the ACC Men's Asia Cup 2025 in the UAE. The prestigious tournament will take place from September 9th to 28th. We look forward to a spectacular display of cricket! The detailed schedule will be out soon. #Cricketwins' With only seven months left until the next T20 World Cup iteration to be played in India and Sri Lanka, the continental tournament will return to the T20 format. The previous edition of the Asia Cup was played in the ODI format on the road to the 2023 Cricket World Cup, where India demolished hosts Sri Lanka to lift the title. Naqvi said in a statement: 'Hosting the ACC Men's T20 Asia Cup 2025 in the UAE allows fans from across Asia to come together in a setting that mirrors our region's incredible diversity. When crowds gather to witness the tournament's unforgettable clashes, it will be a great reminder of cricket's power to build bridges.' While the BCCI are the designated host, the tournament will be played in a neutral setting in the United Arab Emirates with eight teams in contention. Besides India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh the competition will comprise Hong Kong, UAE and Oman. The last edition of the Asia Cup in 2023, too, was impacted by the India-Pakistan situation. With Pakistan hosting the tournament, India refused to travel across the border. The BCCI ensured that India played their matches in Sri Lanka. For the PCB, the event proved to be a damp squib as Pakistan failed to make it to the final and India won the title match against Sri Lanka in Colombo.
