Over 5,000 police personnel deployed for ASEAN foreign ministers' meeting
Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department director Datuk Seri Azmi Abu Kassim confirmed that comprehensive security measures are in place, including continuous monitoring and advanced technology such as facial recognition and explosives detection.
'PDRM has taken appropriate measures to ensure high preparedness ahead of this meeting, and the main focus is on the security of VIPs, traffic control and handling emergencies,' he said.
The security operation involves multiple police units, including the Kuala Lumpur Police Contingent Headquarters, Federal Reserve Force, Special Operations Unit (UTK), 69 Commando, and Special Branch.
Security will also cover key locations such as Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), Subang Airport, and delegates' hotels. Restricted zones will be enforced to limit access.
Azmi added that security training and simulations, including convoy drills and system tests, have been conducted to ensure smooth coordination.

Saifuddin was responding to a question from Jerai MP Sabri Azit (PN) on how far the Home Ministry has worked with other ministries to proactively address online criminal activities such as 'swinger' culture, to prevent them from becoming ingrained social trends. Addressing the broader challenge, Saifuddin acknowledged the complexities involved in handling children involved in criminal activities, noting that they are subject to different legal frameworks. 'For instance, these children cannot be brought before an open court. So how do we take action? Our laws are diverse. If we try to take legal action, SUHAKAM (Human Rights Commission of Malaysia) may argue that they are still children. 'And then there's the question of what happens to their future? So when we encounter cases like this, enforcement must be approached carefully, often requiring input from multiple agencies. That's our modus operandi,' he explained. Perak forms multi-agency committee to tackle school bullying cases
PARIT: The Perak government has established a reinforced special committee at state and district levels to systematically address bullying cases in schools, incorporating multi-agency collaboration for comprehensive intervention. State Education, Higher Education, Youth and Sports Committee chairman Khairudin Abu Hanipah confirmed the committee is chaired by the State Education Director at state level and District Education Officers at local levels. 'This committee has existed before, but we have strengthened it with the involvement of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the Social Welfare Department (JKM), the Ministry of Health (KKM), and other agencies.' He revealed that all 12 District Education Offices in Perak are conducting active monitoring, including unannounced night inspections at school hostels to observe student activities during prep sessions. Khairudin emphasised the initiative's importance in preventing severe abuse cases through collective intervention by relevant authorities. The state prioritises creating a safe learning environment where students can focus academically without fear of oppression or harassment. All reported bullying incidents must follow strict Education Ministry protocols requiring preliminary reports within one day and full investigations concluded within seven days. 'We ensure compliance with the guidelines through the MOE Circular, whereby a preliminary report must be submitted within one day, a follow-up report within three days, and a full report within seven days.' Man nabbed over TikTok claim Zara Qairina was murdered

(PDRM pic) PETALING JAYA : A 51-year-old man has been arrested by police over a TikTok video which allegedly contains false statements regarding investigations into the death of Form 1 student Zara Qairina Mahathir. Bukit Aman criminal investigation department director M Kumar said the video – which is more than two minutes long – involved a conversation regarding the findings of the autopsy on Zara. 'Preliminary checks found that the video contained false statements regarding investigations into Zara's case because it described her death as being a premeditated murder,' he said in a statement. Kumar said the man was arrested at 10.20pm yesterday, and that a handphone had been confiscated. The suspect is under remand until Thursday. He is being probed for sedition, improper use of network facilities and making statements with the intention of causing, or that may lead to, public alarm. Kumar warned the public against spreading rumours or manipulated facts concerning Zara's death, pointing out that an inquest was set to be held. He also advised the public to verify the information they came across on social media. Zara was found unconscious at 4am on July 16 after allegedly falling from the third floor of her school's hostel in Papar, Sabah. She died at Queen Elizabeth I Hospital in Kota Kinabalu the following day. Her body was exhumed on Aug 9 to allow for a post-mortem amid allegations of bullying. Five minors are set to be charged tomorrow over the alleged bullying.
