Yahoo2 days ago

Former MTV reality star Whitney Purvis announced the tragic death of her son, Weston Owen Gosa Jr., who died at age 16. Purvis, who appeared on 16 and Pregnant in 2009, shared the devastating news Monday, June 2, on social media.
Whitney Purvis is heartbroken over the demise of her son, Weston. The 16 and Pregnant star wrote on her emotional Facebook post, 'This is so hard to write. My beautiful son, Weston has passed away. He was only 16 years old. Life is so cruel and unfair. I just dont understand. Oh my baby is gone and I don't know what to do with myself.'
Purvis further wrote that her 'worst nightmare' has come true. She shared, 'How do you go on in life after losing a child? I'm in disbelief, this cannot be happening. I don't want it to be real. I would do anything just to hold him. Words just can't describe the pain I am feeling.'
The mother of two concluded the post, writing, 'I love you so much, Weston Owen Gosa. God, I love you so much. You are my heart. I was so proud of the young man you were becoming. I just can't go on without you. Rest in Peace, my angel. You are gone too soon. April 2, 2009 – June 2, 2025.'
While Purvis did not reveal the cause of her son's death, Weston's stepmother, Amy Gosa, revealed in a separate Facebook post that they would be conducting an autopsy to ascertain the cause of death. Gosa also disclosed that the family found Weston at 7 am in the morning and 'tried to wake him up.'
She stated, 'He was not breathing; we attempted CPR and called an ambulance. The paramedics attempted it as well and took him to the hospital in Gordon County, where he was pronounced dead. He had several health issues as well as diabetes.'
Viewers of 16 and Pregnant are probably aware of the birth story of Weston Junior. The former MTV star's son was born on a prom night. Later, Purvis revealed that she went through a C-section. After Weston, Purvis welcomed her second son in 2014 with ex-boyfriend Weston Lewis Gosa (via US Weekly).

Health Minister Ong Ye Kung is "dismayed" at the $52,188 monthly rental bid for a general practitioner (GP) clinic in a Tampines HDB estate as "this must translate to higher cost of healthcare one way or another." I-Health Medical's unusually high bid to operate the 52 sq m ground-floor unit at Block 954C Tampines Street 96 continues to draw attention but a co-owner for the company insists they will not raise prices to compensate for their rental costs. Health Minister Ong said that going forward, bids for future HDB GP clinics will be assessed using a Price-Quality evaluation Model (PQM) that focuses less on price, and more on quality of care. Health Minister Ong Ye Kung has expressed his dismay at the $52,188 monthly rental bid for a general practitioner (GP) clinic in a Tampines HDB estate as "this must translate to higher cost of healthcare one way or another." The health minister made the comment in a Facebook post on 4 June after media reports of I-Health Medical's unusually high tender bid to operate the 52 sq m ground-floor unit at Block 954C Tampines Street 96. Earlier this week, a co-owner for the healthcare firm, Andrew Chim had explained the unit's location near several Build-To-Order projects as well as the surrounding competition justified the high rental amount. Chim, in the same interview with the Straits Times, also said the company would not increase their prices. "Rent is not commensurate with [consultation] fee," Chim said in a separate interview with CNA. "I can assure you that the total bill for different cases will be in range for other heartland clinics." HDB has also moved to assure the public that the rental for this Tampines clinic "does not set any price requirements for future tenders by HDB, and it also will not affect the rentals that HDB is charging other existing clinics." I-Health Medical tendered for the Tampines unit in December 2024 and won it in March. This was before the Ministry of Health (MOH) and HDB had launched a new tender approach for GP clinics at Bartley Beacon last month. Health Minister Ong said that going forward, bids for future HDB GP clinics will be assessed using a Price-Quality evaluation Model (PQM) that focuses less on price, and more on quality of care. "Quality of care will account for 70% of the tender evaluation, and rental 30%," he said. "We will make the new PQM approach the norm, when tendering our GP clinics in our HDB heartlands," Ong said.
