Telangana government to set up panel to end film workers' strike
The Telugu Film Industry Employees Federation (TFIEF) has been on strike for the past eight days, demanding a 30% wage hike. Against this backdrop, TFIEF representatives met minister Venkat Reddy at the Secretariat.
During the meeting, the minister urged both producers and cine workers to show flexibility and end the strike. 'The government stands with the workers, but they must also consider the concerns of small producers. Only discussions can lead to a solution. A strike is not the right path to resolve issues,' he said.
Reiterating the government's vision to make Hyderabad a global film hub, Venkat Reddy stressed the importance of safeguarding the city's reputation as a prime destination for the cinema and entertainment industry. He noted that Telangana's scenic locations have the potential to attract filmmakers, boost tourism, create jobs, and generate revenue for local communities.
The minister also said that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is committed to providing housing for economically weaker cine workers and improving amenities to enhance their quality of life.
Telangana State Film Development Corporation Chairman Dil Raju emphasised the need for unity within the industry and urged collective support for the government's vision.
Special Chief Secretary (Home) Ravi Gupta and representatives of various film associations also attended the meeting.

Conserving water resources will boost groundwater level, says Naidu
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has stressed that only through comprehensive conservation of water resources can groundwater levels be increased. Addressing the irrigation Water Users' Associations, district Collectors, and officials via video-conference from the Secretariat on Thursday, Mr. Naidu reviewed water management, equitable distribution to tail-end areas, and efficient utilisation. The Chief Minister said effective water management had enabled the State to store 82% capacity of the reservoirs and barrages this season. He cited the diversion of rainwater and upstream inflows into major projects, including filling the Rayalaseema reservoirs via the Handri-Neeva system. 'Focus will now be on Velugodu, Uttarandhra, and Galeru–Nagari Sujala Sravanti projects,' he added. Mr. Naidu directed that village tanks and irrigation canals be preserved and filled, with active participation from the Water Users' Associations. 'About 17% less rainfall has been recorded in the State. Every drop must be conserved, with water reaching all farmlands,' he said, adding that the State's 38,000 minor irrigation tanks could store substantial volumes. The Chief Minister announced district-wise ratings for water management, and said irrigation engineering systems would be restructured. He emphasised groundwater recharge as essential, warning that over-reliance on deep borewells would lead to fluoride contamination and high power costs. Efficient use could cut these expenses by 50%., he observed Water Users' Associations must also take responsibility for conservation, recharge, and coordination with officials, Mr. Naidu said, noting that coastal and certain inland districts needed special focus on groundwater improvement. Senior officials from the Water Resources Department attended the conference. Water Resources Minister Nimmala Rama Naidu joined the conferecne from Palakollu.

National flag on 40 lakh houses as part of BJP's campaign
The national tricolour will be hoisted on an estimated 40 lakh houses as part of the BJP's ongoing campaign to encourage people to do so on the occasion of the Independence Day celebrations, said party State president N. Ramchander Rao on Thursday. Participating in the rally organised from Necklace Road to B.R. Ambedkar statue near the Secretariat as part of the programme here, he said it is a great initiative by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to promote national unity, dignity, integrity and patriotism. He pointed out that the campaign is to instil a sense of patriotism in the hearts of citizens. Mr. Rao claimed that a wave of patriotism has swept across the State and the country as the campaign is being taken up with great fanfare to commemorate the 79th Independence Day. It is also the occasion to recall the sacrifices of thousands of freedom fighters and great leaders who were instrumental in achieving India's Independence, he said. The BJP leader accused Congress party of having 'supported' the British and Pakistan in the partition of India on religious basis, which led to the country's wealth being plundered. He made the participants take a pledge to protect India's unity, Integrity and culture. Mr. Rao also took part in another rally held at JNTU Kukatpally, said a press release.

Anupama urges audiences to support female-centric films in theatres
Actress Anupama Parameswaran, who made her Malayalam debut with Premam and later rose to prominence in Telugu cinema with A Aa, is set to headline a female-centric film titled Paradha. Speaking about the challenges of making such films, Anupama highlighted a growing trend—audiences show interest in watching female-led stories on OTT platforms but are often reluctant to visit theatres for them. 'Commercial viability is a big hurdle,' she explained. 'Many female-centric films end up on OTT because they struggle to draw theatre audiences. But movies like Arundathi and Bhaagmathi proved that such stories can succeed on the big screen. Paradha has everything audiences expect from a good film—it's just led by a female star. I may not have typical hero-style fights, but we have a strong, engaging story.' Anupama stressed that female-led projects must also be presented in a commercial format to survive theatrically. She urged viewers to give Paradha a chance if they hear positive word of mouth. The film's cast includes Darshana Rajendran, Rag Mayur, Sangitha Krish, Rajendra Prasad, and Harsha Vardhan.
