Congress Diplomacy Lesson For PM Modi After Trump Call; BJP Hits Back
Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the G7 Summit was labelled as not a matter to be discussed by Uttar Pradesh Congress President Ajay Rai on Wednesday.
He further highlighted that "nothing can be more shameful" than the invitation of the US President to Pakistan's Field Marshal Asim Munir.
"Today, they have to tell that our PM and US President Donald Trump had a teleconversation. These things are not to be said. The people and countries will know it by themselves. If you have to tell this, it means you are giving justification... On the other side, Pakistan Field Marshal Asim Munir has been invited by Donald Trump for lunch...Nothing can be more shameful than this," Rai said, ANI reported.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held over a half-hour telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the G7 Summit, which was held in Canada.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri stated that during the conversation, PM Modi briefed the US President about India's Operation Sindoor and firmly conveyed the message that India has never accepted and will never accept mediation on the issues with Pakistan.
Misri added, "Prime Minister Modi made it clear to President Trump that during this entire episode, at no time, at any level, were issues such as India-US trade deal or mediation by the US between India and Pakistan discussed. The halt to military action was discussed directly between India and Pakistan, through existing channels of the two armies, and was at the request of Pakistan."
"Prime Minister Modi stressed that India has never accepted mediation, does not accept it, and will never accept it. There is complete political unanimity in India on this issue," He further added.
The remarks come after the US President had time and again claimed that he had used trade as a means for the cessation of hostilities between India and Pakistan.

Resham Singh, a resident of Hamidi village in Barnala, was apprehended in an intelligence-led operation by SSOC officials. According to sources, he was absconding since early June after allegedly vandalising the statue of B R Ambedkar in Nangal village near Phillaur (Jalandhar), on the instructions of Surinder Singh Thikriwal, a US-based fugitive, and SFJ legal counsel Gurpatwant Singh Pannun (in pic), a designated terrorist. Investigators revealed that Resham Singh was actively involved in spreading pro-Khalistan and pro-SFJ graffiti across several Punjab districts, including Patiala, Faridkot, and Jalandhar. During the Indo-Pak border tensions in May 2025, he painted inflammatory slogans such as "Pakistan Zindabad" and "Khalistan Zindabad" on public walls, allegedly to provoke unrest and stoke separatist sentiments. Officials said there is evidence that the accused received foreign funding to carry out these anti-national activities. He has a history of similar offences and was previously booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in Karnal (Haryana) and Sangrur (Punjab). A fresh FIR was registered at SSOC, Mohali, and further investigations are ongoing to identify other operatives and funding channels linked to the SFJ network.

India-UK social security pact was non-negotiable in free trade deal: Piyush Goyal
New Delhi: The India-UK social security agreement was made a non-negotiable part of the free trade agreement (FTA) discussions two years ago, commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal said on Wednesday. Termed the Double Contribution Convention Agreement (DCCA), it was agreed to along with the FTA between the two countries in May. "It was on the table for the last three years to bring balance and equity and balance to the trade deal between the two economies," Goyal said at an event in London. The minister is on a two-day visit to London from Wednesday. The agreement exempts Indian professionals and their employers from paying social security contributions in the UK for short-term assignments of up to three years. The pact will allow temporary Indian workers in UK to pay their social security contributions in India for the first year and for two years nothing will be collected from them. At the same event, UK secretary of state for business and trade Jonathan Reynolds said it is a business mobility provision which the UK has with every country for persons coming temporarily for business or MNCs posting staff in UK. "With 50 other countries we have extended the provision. It is reciprocal so UK nationals employed by those companies in India pay into our system (for one year)." Live Events Goyal said since temporary professionals stay less than the 10 year threshold to qualify for receiving benefits against their social security contributions in the UK, this money otherwise won't be paid back to them.
