NCAA super regionals set after frenzy of upsets
June 3 - The SEC remains a dominant presence ahead of this week's NCAA super regionals despite the conference losing the top two teams in the country in shocking upsets last weekend. With No. 1 Vanderbilt and No. 2 Texas bounced in the regionals they hosted, No. 3 Arkansas, No. 4 Auburn and No. 6 LSU are now among the favorites as the road to Omaha continues with the eight super regionals beginning Friday. That includes No. 5 North Carolina, which finished the regular season ranked No. 1, and former powerhouse Miami, which returns to the super regionals for the first time since 2016. The streaming package has seen its viewers increase 27%, with more than 7.5 billion minutes watched through Monday. Games on the NHK channels in Japan are averaging 2.7 million. The average does not include the Tokyo Series games between the Dodgers and Chicago Cubs which began the regular season. The ratings are on pace for MLB's most-watched regular season in Japan as the audience has increased every year since 2021. On streaming viewership has increased 27% vs 2024, which was the most-watched season in the history of the service. Reports: Dodgers signing veteran RHP Jose Urena
June 3 - The Los Angeles Dodgers are signing right-hander Jose Urena, multiple outlets reported on Tuesday. The Toronto Blue Jays designated the 33-year-old veteran for assignment on Saturday. He has no decisions and a 5.87 ERA in seven games (two starts) this season with the New York Mets and Blue Jays.
