Student uses school leadership position to fundraise
The Mandurah Baptist College Primary School head boy is hoping to use his position to help children in need.
Nate May, 11, hopes to use his leadership position to raise funds and awareness of the Backpack Buddies program run by local charity Bridge Builders.
He currently volunteers at the organisation every week and has already raised more than $2400, which will feed three children in the Backpack Buddies program for the entire year.

Bridge Builders supports 180 children in 15 schools across the Peel region, with 40 more children in the community still on the waitlist.
'I can't imagine going home on the weekend to no food in the pantry,' Nate said.
'That's the sad reality for lots of kids in the community and I want to do as much as I can to help.'
Bridge Builders CEO Kelly Hinder said Nate's dedication and leadership was truly inspiring.
'His passion for helping others embodies the spirit of community and generosity we strive to uphold at Bridge Builders,' she said.

Nate's mother Demi said she couldn't be prouder of her son's commitment and the positive impact he was making at such a young age.
Nate will be helping MBC hold a whole school cereal domino event on June 25 to raise more donations for Bridge Builders.
The event encourages every student to contribute a cereal box that will form a large domino chain.
The cereal will then be donated to Bridge Builders, along with a gold coin donation.
'Please, if you can spare any loose change for hungry local kids, it would make my year,' Nate said.

The Oklahoma baseball team did what it needed in order to stay on the good side of things in the Chapel Hill Regional of the NCAA Tournament on Friday, beating Nebraska, 7-4, in the first round. OU's victory advances the Sooners in the winner's bracket where they will play host, and No. 4 national seed North Carolina on Saturday at 6 p.m. Malachi Witherspoon, Oklahoma's normal No. 3 starter, was the star Friday. The Sooners' right-hander kept Nebraska scoreless through his six innings of work. Witherspoon gave up just three hits and two walks while striking out nine batters over his 102 pitches. His offense picked him up plenty, staking him to a 2-0 lead after two innings and a 4-0 advantage through six. Drew Dickerson popped a two-run home run in the second to give OU the early lead and he was followed in the third inning by Easton Carmichael, who hit a solo shot to make it 3-0. Trey Gambill's RBI single in the fifth inning provided more breathing room. OU still needed more, though, as Nebraska scored four runs in the eighth inning off Jason Bodin. The Sooners, however, had already added to their advantage, scoring three runs in the seventh. Scott Mudler plated a run with a groundout and Kyle Branch tacked on two more with a two-out single through the right side. Oklahoma hasn't lost its opening game at the NCAA Tournament since 2012, a stretch of six straight appearances with a victory. North Carolina booked its spot in the second round earlier Friday with a 4-0 win over Holy Cross. The Crusaders and Cornhuskers will play an elimination game at noon Saturday. The winner will play the loser of Oklahoma/North Carolina on Sunday at noon.

SBCA issued notice on 'harassing' female lawyer
The Sindh High Court has issued notices to the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) officials and other parties on a petition against harassment of a female lawyer, a resident of Nazimabad, by the SBCA. The petitioner's lawyer submitted that the female lawyer provides legal advice to people at home. The SBCA officials terming it illegal to run a business of giving legal advice on residential property took extremely harsh measures and started harassing her. The said officials broke the door of the female lawyer's house without notice. The SBCA officials should be stopped from harassing the petitioner, the consul urged the court. The court issued notices to the SBCA officials and other parties and adjourned the hearing until after summer vacations. NED controller of exam runs admissions prep centre A teachers' association has filed a petition against the high-level appointments of Registrar and Controller of Examinations at the NED University over conflict of interest. The association has taken the position that the selection board has appointed Registrar and Controller of Examinations, ignoring transparency. The Controller of Examinations also runs private coaching centres for the preparation of NED entrance tests. The dual role poses ethical and professional concerns.
