IPL Trade: Rajasthan Royals ask for Ravindra Jadeja or Ruturaj Gaikwad in swap deal for Sanju Samson
The uncertainty over
Sanju Samson
's future with
Rajasthan Royals
has grown, with fresh reports indicating that the franchise is actively working on potential trade options for their captain. As first reported by Cricbuzz, RR have reached out to mult
ipl
e IPL franchises to check if they are interested in acquiring the India wicketkeeper-batter.
Lead owner Manoj Badale is said to be personally involved in the discussions.
According to Cricbuzz, during these talks, Badale has even named specific players from other teams that the Royals would want in exchange for Samson. In the case of
Chennai Super Kings
, it is believed RR asked for either
Ravindra Jadeja
or
Ruturaj Gaikwad
as part of a swap. These demands are understood to be deal-breakers for CSK, who are not willing to release two of their most important players.

Shivam Dube's name has also been mentioned in some conversations, but Chennai are reportedly unwilling to part with the India all-rounder either. In fact, CSK officials are said to be reluctant to release any of their current players. This makes a direct swap between Samson and CSK seem unlikely at present, unless lengthy negotiations change the equation or Samson's name comes up in the auction.
However, there is no certainty that Samson will even enter the auction.

RR are believed to be in serious trade talks with more than one team, and there is interest from several other franchises. This means another franchise could step in and finalise a deal before the auction stage.
Samson, who has been with RR for several seasons and captained them in recent years, has reportedly made a formal request to the management for a move, stating that he wants to take his career in a new direction. Over the past seasons, there have been reports of differences between Samson and the team's decision-makers.

Which player would you prefer to see swapped for Sanju Samson?
Ravindra Jadeja
Ruturaj Gaikwad
Shivam Dube
None of the above
One point of tension was the Royals' choice to release
Jos Buttler
before the last season while retaining
Shimron Hetmyer
. Samson had previously told Star Sports that letting Buttler go was one of the most difficult calls for him, and during a dinner with Buttler in the England series, he admitted he was still not over it.
Despite these issues, Samson has avoided making any negative public comments about the franchise. In a recent podcast with R Ashwin, he said the Rajasthan Royals setup means a lot to him and spoke highly of Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the young left-handed batter who replaced him at the top of the order in the RR batting line-up.
If a suitable trade does not materialise, Samson could still remain with Rajasthan Royals, as releasing or trading a player is entirely the franchise's decision. The player's role in this process is limited to making a formal request. For now, the situation remains open-ended, and it is clear that Samson's next move will be one of the biggest talking points of the upcoming IPL off-season.

'Usko kya nazar aayega?': Javed Miandad on Babar Azam's Asia Cup snub
Babar Azam (AFP Photo) Pakistan selectors on Sunday omitted senior batters Babar Azam and Mohammed Rizwan while announcing a 17-member squad for the upcoming tri-series in the UAE later this month, followed by the Asia Cup . The squad, announced by the PCB on its official website, includes senior fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi, Mohammad Wasim, and left-arm pacer Salman Mirza. Ahead of the Asia Cup — scheduled in the T20 format from September 9 in the UAE — Pakistan will feature in a tri-series against Afghanistan and the hosts UAE at Sharjah from August 29 to September 7. Salman Ali Agha will lead the side. Meanwhile, a video of legendary cricketer Javed Miandad slamming the selectors for excluding Babar has gone viral on social media. "Unko khud ko nahi pata. Unhone cricket kheli hai? Jo jis level pe cricket kheli hai, woh selection kar rahe hain Babar Azam ki. Usko kya nazar aayega? Babar Azam is a great player. Ups and downs hote hain. Cricket is like a radio — you have to catch the station. Jab aap wicket pe jaate ho, bowler aata hai, aap sochte ho – haan, main yeh kar sakta hoon," Miandad said. I am glad to captain Mumbai, says Ayush Mhatre
For someone who's bowled very little in senior cricket, it came as a surprise to watch Ayush Mhatre practise his off-spin, bowling to Sarfaraz Khan in the nets at the A.M. Jain College ground here on Sunday. Mumbai was preparing for its opening fixture in the Buchi Babu All India cricket tournament against TNCA XI, set to begin at the Gojan-B ground on Monday. 'I had a niggle, so I didn't bowl in the England tour (India u-19 tour in June and July). But I bowl regularly,' he emphasised after practice. Despite the presence of a few senior players in the squad, the 18-year-old has been entrusted with the responsibility of leading his side in the tournament. 'I'm very glad to captain the Mumbai team. It's very special for me. I'm very lucky to captain Mumbai at such a young age!' he said. But he isn't wearing the captaincy hat for the first time. He led the India u-19 side that toured England recently. He's been named the captain again for the u-19 tour to Australia in September. Speaking about how captaincy has had a positive impact on his overall game, he said: 'The (sense of) responsibility has improved. And the involvement in the game has been better for me now, because as a captain, you have to be alert for all the situations.' Having played for CSK last IPL season, he said he has 'learned from Mahi bhai (M.S. Dhoni) to stay calm in any situation and make smart decisions on the field without being aggressive.' He's clear in his head when it comes to his approach to batting in multi-day cricket. 'Every batter has his own strengths, and my strength is aggressive cricket. I just think about scoring runs. So automatically, if the ball comes in my range, I just hit it,' he said.

Premier League: Arsenal edge Manchester United 1-0 in season opener; Chelsea frustrated by Crystal Palace
Declan Rice of Arsenal celebrates after teammate Riccardo Calafiori (2L) scored their team's first goal. (Getty Images) Arsenal kicked off their Premier League campaign with a statement win, grinding out a 1-0 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday. In a clash billed as the marquee fixture of the opening round, Riccardo Calafiori's early goal proved decisive as Mikel Arteta's men displayed resilience at the back and efficiency from set pieces — a hallmark of their rise in recent seasons. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! The breakthrough came in the 13th minute when Declan Rice's corner caused chaos inside United's box. Back-up goalkeeper Altay Bayindir, preferred over first-choice Andre Onana, failed to collect cleanly, allowing Calafiori to nod home from close range. It was yet another reminder of Arsenal's lethal edge from dead-ball situations, with Arteta's side making a habit of punishing defensive lapses. Poll Do you think Manchester United can bounce back this season after their opening loss? Yes, they will improve No, it will be another tough season For United, the script felt painfully familiar. After a miserable 15th-place finish last season, optimism had returned under Ruben Amorim, bolstered by nearly £200 million spent revamping their attack. Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha were given starting debuts, while highly rated Benjamin Sesko came off the bench in the second half. Despite flashes of energy, United lacked the cutting edge to breach Arsenal's disciplined rearguard. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Project Management 2.0 with IITD IITD PM Apply Now Undo Arsenal themselves had a quiet evening in open play. New striker Viktor Gyökeres struggled on his competitive debut, but with their backline marshaled superbly, the Gunners followed likely title rivals Liverpool and Manchester City in securing three points on opening weekend. Elsewhere, Chelsea endured frustration in their first match as reigning Club World Cup champions, held to a goalless draw at home by Crystal Palace. Eberechi Eze, linked with a move to Tottenham, nearly gave Palace a dream lead with a stunning free kick, only for VAR to disallow it due to an infringement in the wall. The Blues, still short on sharpness after a shortened preseason, created little of note as Joao Pedro and Cole Palmer were subdued. At the City Ground, Nottingham Forest got off to a flying start with a 3-1 win over Brentford. Chris Wood picked up where he left off last season, netting twice before halftime, while new signing Dan Ndoye scored on debut. Brentford pulled one back late through Igor Thiago's penalty, but the damage was already done. Sunday's matches were preceded by a poignant moment of silence across stadiums in memory of Diogo Jota and Andre Silva, the brothers tragically killed in a car accident in Spain last month.
