Three-year-old boy dies after being hit in Halifax crosswalk by vehicle
HALIFAX — Police in Halifax say a toddler has died after he was hit by a vehicle Friday night, not far from the city's downtown.
Officers say they were called to a crash involving a pedestrian along a street in Bedford, a neighbourhood north of downtown Halifax.
They say a three-year-old boy was crossing the street when he was hit by the vehicle.
Paramedics took the boy to hospital, where he died of his injuries.
Halifax police say they're sending condolences to the boy's family and they thank witnesses and bystanders who remained at the scene.
Investigators say no charges have been laid and an investigation is ongoing.

Missing Brandon teen found dead, police say
A Brandon, Man., teenager who had been missing since Sunday has been found dead, police say. The body of Owen Bedford, 18, was found in the Assiniboine River, the Brandon Police Service said on a Facebook post Friday afternoon. He had last been seen at around 2 a.m. Sunday leaving a bar on Victoria Avenue with some friends, his family previously told CBC News. More than 100 volunteers joined a search, the family said, and the Hutterian Emergency Aquatic Response Team began searching the Assiniboine River for the teen on Tuesday. Brandon police said Bedford's identity has been formally confirmed. "At this time, our thoughts are with Owen's family and friends as they navigate this incredibly difficult and painful time," they said in the update. "We extend our deepest sympathies and stand with them in their grief."
