Arizona Cardinals DL Calais Campbell took it easy but will be ready in training camp
Arizona Cardinals DL Calais Campbell took it easy but will be ready in training camp Campbell, almost 39 years old, took it easy in the offseason program but says he will be ready when training camp starts Defensive lineman Calais Campbell is back with the Arizona Cardinals for his 18th NFL season. He spent his first nine with the team and, after leaving in free agency in 2017, he returns after eight years. He is now almost 39 years old (he will turn 39 six days before the team's season opener), so preparing for the season is a little different. While some younger players have come on noticeably bigger and stronger, Campbell knows what he needs to do. Where is he physically right now? "I'm where I'm supposed to be," he said, making sure to add, "I'm not ready to play a game, that's for sure." He took it easy in the offseason. He was not at most of OTAs, which were voluntary. He didn't do much in minicamp. "Coach (Jonathan Gannon), he gave me lot of grace and was just like, come around, be around the guys, a little bit of movement, but I didn't do too much," he said. That won't be the approach next month when training camp begins. "Come training camp, I'm ready to go, and I feel like I'm where I'm supposed to be. The experience is a great thing, but the experience tells me I can feel where I'm at and where I should be. I know exactly where I need to be. "Right now I'm right on par." The Cardinals will report for training camp on July 22. Get more Cardinals and NFL coverage from Cards Wire's Jess Root and others by listening to the latest on the Rise Up, See Red podcast. Nico Raskin earns swooning review as Rangers mate showered in love amid £5m transfer exit push
Beaming Rudi Garcia has waxed lyrical about game-changing Nico Raskin after the Rangers star once again made a telling impact for his national team. The 24-year-old capped off the best season of his career with a game-changing cameo in the 4-3 win over Wales as he helped re-address the balance after the Red Devils coughed up a 3-0 lead in Brussels. Advertisement Raskin was a surprise omission from the starting XI but made the most of his 15-minute cameo with the game all square before Kevin De Bruyne broke Welsh hearts. READ MORE: The 3 goalkeeping options facing Rangers as Russell Martin can stick, twist or clear the decks READ MORE: Cyriel Dessers minimum Rangers transfer fee revealed as AEK set to spend big on statement signing The Ibrox star – expected to garner serious transfer interest this summer with two years left on his deal – once again received a glowing appraisal from Garcia. The Belgium boss, speaking on a raft of changes during the game, said: "It didn't prove me right at first, but it was better afterwards. The two periods of change were important, by the way (Nicolas Raskin then Alexis Saelemaekers). It's positive because the players proved they could move forward. Advertisement "Nicolas Raskin's entry (in place of Dodi Lukebakio, who had already come on) was important because we needed fighters on the pitch. Jeremy Doku? He was the catalyst. He's reached a high level in the last two matches." And even when saluting national icon De Bruyne, Garcia couldn't help but once again lavish praise on Raskin and his telling impact in the closing stages of a vital World Cup qualifying win. He added: "It's symbolic Kevin De Bruyne ultimately scored the fourth. Nicolas Raskin 's return helped us get back in control of the game. He stabilised the team, and Alexis Saelemaekers, who can do a bit of everything, helped us finish well." Advertisement Meanwhile, Cyriel Dessers parked frenzied speculation surrounding his own future as he married sweetheart Rosalie de Ruysscher in Italy over the weekend. That would be a £500k profit on the Nigeria international under Michael Beale after he was signed from Cremonese in the summer of 2023.

Michigan State Football Lands Class of 2026 4-Star Prospect Collin Campbell
Michigan State Football Lands Class of 2026 4-Star Prospect Collin Campbell originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Michigan State football secured a significant commitment on Thursday and they landed their first Class of 2026 four-star prospect in offensive lineman Collin Campbell. Advertisement Campbell will bring a massive body and some massive talent to the trenches for the Spartans -- a 6-foot-7, 280-pound offensive tackle out of Gilbert, Ariz., Campbell is ranked as the third-best player in Arizona and the 34th-best offensive tackle in the nation in 247Sports' composite rankings. A Michigan State player's helmet sits on the sideline© David Reginek-Imagn Images 247Sports recruiting analyst Greg Biggins has given a full evaluation on Campbell, and highlighted athleticism and gritty style of play as positive attributes. "A plus athlete who can really get off the ball and has the kind of nastiness you have to have to excel in the trenches. A finisher who loves to bury his man into the ground and has the athleticism to get out on sweeps and pulls. No issues getting to the second level as a run blocker and shows the athleticism and lateral mobility to slide and mirror as a pass protector," he wrote. Advertisement The commitment comes after Campbell came to East Lansing on an official visit from May 30-June 1 -- Campbell left campus remembering why he began to fall in love with the program upon earlier unofficial visits, and was ready to make his commitment within just a couple of weeks. 'I had high expectations coming in…I needed to go back again and really see how much I liked it. I liked even better than I remembered," Campbell told On3. Michigan State was in competition with multiple other Big 10 programs for Campbell's services, including Washington, Minnesota, Nebraska, Purdue, Northwestern, and UCLA. In the end, Campbell's decision came down to the Huskies and the Spartans, as well as Big 12 program Utah.
