TEXARKANA, TX. (KTAL/KMSS) — A 16-year-old girl is facing serious charges after a fight broke out at an apartment complex, leaving one boy with stab wounds and the mother in jail.
According to the Texarkana, Texas Police Department (TTPD), on May 22, a fight broke out, and when a 15-year-old boy tried to step in, he ended up ' getting stabbed in the back and neck with a pocketknife.'
'Witnesses at the scene – and the boy himself – said the girl was the one who did it,' posted TTPD. The detailed officers found her in a nearby apartment and arrested her for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

'While taking her into custody, they also found a baggie of marijuana in her pants pocket. As a result, she was hit with an additional charge for Possession of Marijuana. She was taken to JDC and turned over to juvenile authorities.'
TTPD said the teenage girl's mother was one of the other individuals involved in the big fight, claiming she started it. The mother is now at the Bi-State Jail.
According to detectives, the boy was treated at the scene by LifeNet paramedics. Thankfully, his injuries weren't any more serious than they were.
Officers posted, 'The whole situation is just sad. A teen trying to do the right thing ends up getting hurt, and now a mother and daughter are both in jail. This kind of violence helps no one, and it's a strong reminder of how quickly things can spiral out of control these days.'

LSA Deputy of the Year awarded to Caddo Parish Sheriff's deputy

CADDO PARISH, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — The Louisiana Sheriffs' Association (LSA) has named a Caddo Parish Sheriff's Deputy as their Deputy of the Year. Resolutions in both the Louisiana Senate and House authored by State Senator Sam Jenkins and State Representative Steven Jackson recently recognized Corporal Rickey Anderson for being chosen as the LSA's Deputy of the Year. Shreveport firefighters save man from Stoner Ave blaze According to the LSA, the award recognizes a deputy sheriff who has shown unusual initiative and imagination in the performance of duty and has worked to improve the quality of life in their community through selfless and impactful service. As a DEA Task Force Officer, Corporal Anderson began an in-depth investigation following a traffic stop in Shreveport back in 2021, which led to the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of large quantities of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and counterfeit opioid pills. Anderson's efforts in the ensuing investigation helped uncover a fentanyl trafficking ring that was tied to the death of Jason Grubb, who overdosed on fentanyl pills in 2021. Salute the Badge: A candid conversation with SPD Chief Wayne Smith Two ensuing arrests connected to Grubb's death resulted in the first-ever federal convictions in the Western District of Louisiana and the United States for the distribution of fentanyl resulting in death. Anderson has served with the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office since 1993. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
