Reliance and Diehl forge ₹10,000 crore defence pact to manufacture Vulcano precision ammunition in India
Reliance Defence
, a subsidiary of
Reliance Infrastructure
, has entered into a strategic cooperation agreement with Germany's
Diehl Defence
. The partnership will focus on the local production of the Vulcano 155mm precision-guided munition system—an advanced artillery shell designed for long-range, high-accuracy strikes.
The announcement, made on 10 June, signals a major step forward in India's efforts to reduce dependence on imported defence equipment and build a robust domestic manufacturing base.
Vulcano system to be made in India
The Vulcano 155mm system is no ordinary shell. It uses cutting-edge laser and GPS-guided targeting to deliver pinpoint accuracy. This makes it a valuable asset for the Indian Armed Forces, especially in modern combat scenarios where precision is critical.

Reliance Defence will lead the manufacturing effort as the prime contractor, while Diehl Defence will provide the core technology and system-level expertise. The production will take place at a new greenfield facility in the Watad Industrial Area, Ratnagiri, Maharashtra, which will be part of the
Dhirubhai Ambani Defence City
(DADC).
A ₹10,000 crore opportunity
Reliance Defence estimates that this partnership could generate up to ₹10,000 crore in revenue. This projection reflects the growing demand for advanced ammunition systems and the company's ability to localise critical defence technologies.
Live Events
The manufacturing initiative will include over 50% indigenous value addition, directly supporting India's defence indigenisation goals. It also aligns with the government's target of achieving ₹50,000 crore in
defence exports
by 2029.
Diehl Defence, headquartered in Überlingen, Germany, is a global leader in defence systems. Its portfolio includes guided missiles, air defence systems, and advanced ammunition. The company employs around 4,500 people and generates annual sales exceeding €2 billion.
Helmut Rauch, CEO of Diehl Defence, said, 'Diehl Defence looks forward to strengthen the current relationship with Reliance Group in the context of TGM for the Indian Armed Forces.'
This collaboration marks Reliance Group's fourth major international defence partnership, following earlier ventures with Dassault Aviation, Thales Group, and Rheinmetall.
Market responds positively
Following the announcement, shares of Reliance Infrastructure rose by 3.5%, closing at ₹404.40 on the
Bombay Stock Exchange
. The market's response reflects investor confidence in the long-term value of this strategic move.
While the Indo-German partnership is being celebrated in New Delhi, reports have surfaced that Diehl Defence is also quietly promoting its
IRIS-T air defence system
to Pakistan1. The IRIS-T, known for its performance in Ukraine, is capable of intercepting supersonic missiles like Russia's P-800 Oniks—technologically similar to India's BrahMos.
Analysts believe Pakistan's interest in the IRIS-T stems from its desire to counter India's BrahMos missile capabilities. This development has raised concerns in strategic circles about Germany's dual-track defence diplomacy in South Asia.

Govt school gets approval for high school after long wait
Mangaluru: The long-pending demand of Kavu Government School in Puttur to be upgraded to a high school has finally been met, with the government granting approval for admissions from the next academic year. The DK ZP Government Model Upgraded Higher Primary School, Kavu , a century-old institution once on the brink of closure, received a new lease of life 12 years ago, when it was adopted by entrepreneur and politician Kavu Hemanath Shetty. Increased enrolment since then kept the dream of a high school section alive. Shetty recalled that in 2017-18, they had started Class IX without formal permission from the education department, hoping for official approval. "Unfortunately, permission did not come through, and after one year we had to shift students to other schools for SSLC. Now, with the government's nod, we expect at least 60 admissions for Class IX next academic year," he said. The government has sanctioned the high school on the condition that it be run with local funds for at least three years by the SDMC or villagers. "We are ready for it, and construction of new classrooms is in progress," Shetty said, adding that the school now has the highest admissions among rural government schools under Puttur BEO limits, despite competition from nearby private institutions. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 11 Foods That Help In Healing Knee Pain Naturally Undo Since introducing LKG and UKG in 2016, the school has grown from 140 students to over 450. To cut costs and promote sustainability, it has adopted solar power for electricity and extra income, and set up a biogas unit using kitchen waste to prepare midday meals. ‘Efforts on to open 3 new metro lines next week'
Kolkata: Efforts are underway to open new stretches in three metro lines in Kolkata next week, Railway Board chairman and CEO Satish Kumar told reporters during an inspection of East-West Metro's Esplanade-Sealdah section on Tuesday. Kumar was in town to review the readiness of the three new metro stretches: Green Line's last leg or the East-West Metro's 2.6 km between Esplanade and Sealdah, Yellow Line's first phase or the 7 km Noapara-Airport, and the Orange Line's Phase II or the 4.5 km Ruby-Metropolitan sections. Responding to reporters' queries on when the three new metro lines would open, he replied, "Soon." He later indicated that efforts were on to launch the lines next week. The metro authorities are planning to have the PM's event at the Yellow Line's Jessore Road Metro station, sources said. Satish Kumar visited the metro station, accompanied by Metro Railway GM P Uday Kumar Reddy and other officials. Earlier, the authorities had thought of organising the programme in either Sealdah or the Airport metro station. But both are underground stations and security hazards, sources said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Become Fluent in Any Language Talkpal AI Sign Up Undo The Yellow Line's surface station on Jessore Road was more suited to the PMO's specifications, they said. All new features and content in Battlefield 6 open beta second week
Image via Electronic Arts. After a successful early access period and the first week of the open beta phase, Battlefield 6 is on a roll right now. Starting from August 7 to 10, the beta phase boasted over a whopping half-a-million million players. And this feat becomes more impressive when it's realized that this is just the PC users. Now, as we are approaching the second week of the Battlefield 6 open beta, it is expected that the player-count is going to reach newer heights, breaking more records. And for that, EA is leaving no stones unturned as the company has planned to bring more content in the second stint of the beta phase. Everything new that is coming to Battlefield 6 open beta second week Battlefield 6 open beta second week will introduce a lot of new features, gamemodes, and a map. | Image via Electronic Arts. After the disastrous display from Battlefield 2042, bringing back fans of this long-standing franchise to Battlefield 6 was the main job of EA. After the first phase of the open beta, it seems the job is more than done. But the developers aren't stopping there, because more brand new content is slated to be featured in the second phase of the open beta. Here are they: New Modes As leaked a month earlier , the popular Rush mode will be back this time. Just like in Counter-Strike and Valorant, there will be two teams where the defenders will stop the attackers from destroying the pairs of military communication channels named M-COM stations with explosives. Failing to stop the bomb from exploding or letting the stations get destroyed would reduce the limited numbers of respawn cards given per phase. Along with it, everyone's favorite Squad Deathmatch mode will be there where four teams will get face-to-face to reach the elimination goal. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 20 Legendary Cars from the Past Undo Not only that, a new form of the popular Breakthrough mode will be available as well, where players can only equip class-specific weapons. New Map A new map called Empire State will join the flurry in the second phase of the open beta of Battlefield 6. This map is set in the streets of Brooklyn and will be infantry-focused. New Rewards Following the seven challenges in the first weekend of the open beta, the second week will also feature three challenges. Completing these challenges will again grant high-value rewards, which will be carried forward to players' inventory when the game gets fully released on October 10, just like the previous weekend's rewards. Here are the new challenges and the rewards: Challenges Reward Capture 42 flags in Domination, Conquest, or King of the Hill War Machine Vehicle Skin Get 200 kills or assists Bat Company Dog Tag Capture 10 sectors in Rush or Breakthrough Striking Distance Weapon Package This is it for all the new content that is coming to the second weekend of Battlefield 6. Along with these new elements, previous content like the three maps, the previous game modes like Conquest, Domination, etc. will all be there. Battlefield 6 open beta second weekend begins on August 14, 2025 at 4 AM ET and will run until August 17 at 4 AM ET. Unlike the first phase, there will be no early-access option for the players. So, everyone can hop it around that given time. However, you might need to uninstall Valorant before playing the second phase of Battlefield 6 open beta.
