
Saudi Arabia wins big at the Clio Music Awards 2025
Recognising creativity at the intersection of music and branding, the Clio Music Awards celebrate work that shapes pop culture, redefines artist promotion, and sets new benchmarks in music marketing and advertising.
Billboard Arabia and SRMG Labs took home multiple awards for 'Sounds of the Land,' earning two Grand Clio Music Awards for 'Use of Artists, Talent, & Influencers' and 'Packaging.' The project, which highlighted regional musical heritage, was recognised for its creative approach to fusing culture with branding.
At the heart of 'Sounds of the Land' was an innovative use of topographic data from five locations in the region, transforming natural landscapes into unique soundscapes. Artists and music producers were then invited to reinterpret these sounds, creating one-minute tracks inspired by each location.
In addition to the Grand Clios, 'Sounds of the Land' won four Gold awards in categories such as Use of Artists, Talent, & Influencers, Data Visualisation, Direct Marketing and Innovation. The creative conceptualiser of the campaign, SRMG Labs was also awarded In-House Agency of the Year at the awards.
BigTime Creative Shop's collaboration with the General Entertainment Authority resulted in three Silver Clio Music Awards, all in the 'Use of Music in Film/Video Advertising' category for campaigns 'Knockout Chaos' and 'Everything or Nothing' that used music to enhance their storytelling and impact.
Meanwhile, Droga5 New York's work on the film 'Rumble' for General Entertainment Authority secured a Gold Clio also in the 'Use of Music in Film/Video Advertising' category.
The strong performance at the 2025 edition of the Clio Music Awards highlights Saudi Arabia's advancing creative landscape and its increasing presence in global advertising and branded content.

Riyadh Season 2025: Comedy festival with Dave Chappelle, WWE Royal Rumble, Boulevard World and more
Blockbuster comedians, tennis champions, wrestling stars and concerts featuring regional artists are part of the upcoming Riyadh Season 2025. Running from October to March, the seasonal festival in the Saudi capital will take place across venues throughout the city, with programming spanning entertainment, sport, culture, food and retail. Launched in 2019, the festival is now a major attraction, hosting exclusive events and steadily expanding its offerings. While the full programme is yet to be revealed, Turki Al-Sheikh, chairman of the General Entertainment Authority, said the season's concert line-up will have 'a strong presence of Saudi and Gulf content, in addition to a notable participation of Syrian artists in theatrical performances and concerts'. With more to be announced soon on Riyadh Season's social media channels, here is what we know so far about the event. 1. Dave Chappelle, Kevin Hart and more to headline comedy festival Could this be the best comedy festival line-up of the year? Launching as the official prelude to the festival from September 26 to October 9, it will involve more than 50 international and regional comedians performing across venues at Boulevard City, one of Riyadh's main entertainment districts. With the line-up still to be fully revealed, some of the names already confirmed are Dave Chappelle (date to be revealed soon); Kevin Hart (September 28); Russell Peters (October 2 to 4); Louis C.K. (October 6); Sebastian Maniscalco (October 9); Chris Tucker (October 2) and Aziz Ansari (September 28). 2. WWE Royal Rumble and Benavidez – Yarde fight WWE's Royal Rumble will take place this January at King Saud University Stadium. It will be the first time that the marquee event, which is broadcast live and watched by millions, is held outside the US. Exact dates are to be announced soon. Boxing fans can also look forward to The Ring IV on November 22 at ANB Arena in Boulevard City, featuring a headline bout between David Benavidez and Anthony Yarde, alongside three additional world title fights. 3. Boulevard World returns more than a dozen cultural zones A bigger Boulevard World is on the horizon as part of Riyadh Season, with organisers confirming an expanded layout. As in previous years, culture remains at the heart of the sprawling entertainment zone, with more than a dozen country pavilions set to return – each offering food, performances and crafts from across the globe, in a format reminiscent of Dubai's Global Village. With the 2023 site reportedly stretching 1.2km – and last year's capacity increased by 30 per cent – the venue is massive, featuring attractions such as a life-size replica of the Egyptian pyramids. A three-minute cable car will once again connect Boulevard World to Boulevard City – the adjacent hub for live entertainment and fine dining. While specific dates are yet to be announced, the zone is expected to open daily throughout the winter. 4. Khaleeji artists and Saudi theatre take the spotlight Riyadh Season 2025 will place a strong emphasis on Gulf and Syrian performers across its music and theatre programming. While an official line-up is yet to be announced, organisers can be expected to schedule performances by Khaleeji pop-stars and traditional music ensembles across multiple zones. On the theatre front, new Saudi plays are likely to be shown in venues such as Boulevard City and Al Suwaidi Park. International acts may still appear in limited categories – including sport and comedy, but the cultural focus this year will remain regional. 5. Top zones to visit: Via Riyadh, Boulevard City and more Riyadh Season is spread across various areas of the city in 14 themed zones, each offering its own distinct atmosphere and tailored programme. While Boulevard City and Boulevard World remain the major drawcards, several other zones are worth a visit. Via Riyadh caters to luxury seekers with high-end retail and fine dining outlets. The Groves, styled like a European riverside town, features food vendors and evening cultural events. At Souq Al Awaleen, visitors can browse an open-air market selling oud, textiles, cookware and traditional clothing. Some zones are ticketed, others free to enter. 6. Djokovic, Alcaraz and Sinner to compete at Riyadh's Six Kings Slam Half a dozen tennis champions will hit the courts as part of The Six Kings Slam championship, running at ANB Arena from October 15 and 18. The exhibition event features six top-ranked players: Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, Alexander Zverev, Taylor Fritz and Jack Draper. Tickets will go on sale soon. .

Platinumlist reveals Saudi consumer ticketing trends
Platinumlist, a Saudi-based online ticketing platform, examines key changes and trends in the industry. Over the past few years, Vision 2030 and the General Entertainment Authority (GEA) initiatives have driven major investment in cultural and entertainment projects. Saudi Arabia's entertainment sector is expected to reach about SAR 17.36 billion by 2030, driven by digitalisation, diversified event formats, and changes in audience behaviour. According to Platinumlist, 70 per cent of tickets are now purchased via mobile, with 31 per cent bought on the same day, reflecting a shift toward spontaneous, mobile-first experiences. Event formats have multiplied and diversified at an unprecedented rate. Between 2016 and 2017, Arabic pop concerts accounted for nearly 100 per cent of all public events, which was both culturally acceptable and logistically feasible at the time. Consumer behaviour and trends Platinumlist's internal data reveals that, as of now no single category dominates. Audiences are engaging with a much wider range of events like experiential formats (attractions, immersive zones, seasonal festivals – 24 per cent), Arabic Music & Concerts (23 per cent) Family & Cultural Content (kids events, lifestyle, national days – 13 per cent), Youth & Niche Segments (EDM, anime, gaming, underground – 13 per cent), business & conferences (3 per cent). 'The primary purchasing pattern involves pairs or small groups, with an average of 2.2 to 2.6 tickets per order, although this varies by event category. Consumer interest in comprehensive entertainment formats is characterised by group attendance (average tickets per order: 2.7 for Attractions, 3.3 for Kids Events),' said Moayad Qudus, Senior Business Development Manager at Platinumlist. He adds, 'Arabic events consistently demonstrate high demand over many years, reflecting stable cultural preferences.' Individual purchases are more typical for event categories such as EDM (1.9), Art (1.7) and Anime & Gaming (1.7). Men aged 25–34 remain the dominant and growing segment of ticket buyers, accounting for 25.2 per cent in 2025. The fastest growth is demonstrated by women in the same age group (25–34 years), whose share has increased to 16.1 per cent, making them a key emerging audience. What's more important, the female audience has risen significantly, from just 1.7 per cent of the tracked digital audience in 2017 to 42.4 per cent in 2025. Stable, moderate interest in ticket purchases persists among men and women aged 35–44. Older age groups (55+) show a consistent decrease in activity, reaching a very low level of engagement in the last year (3.8 per cent). As the young audience is the core segment, mobile sales now account for over 70 per cent of all transactions, with dynamic QR codes ensuring secure entry and cutting ticket fraud by 85 per cent. Accessible same-day ticketing is dominant Ticket-buying behaviour has transformed, with a major shift from dominant mid-range planning (73 per cent in 2017) towards last-minute purchases (51 per cent in 2025) and a notable rise in long-term planning in recent years. The report highlights the following buying behaviour changes: Last-Minute Decisions (Same day or 1 day before): from 12.2 per cent in 2017 to 51.0 per cent in 2024, keeping the trend in 2025 Early Purchases (2-4 days before the event): 14.7 per cent in 2017, peaking during 2020 at 42.3 per cent, and then normalising to 19 per cent in 2024 and 2025. Mid-Range Planning (5-14 days before): dominant purchasing behaviour (73.0 per cent) in 2017, with a drop tendency in the last three years to 21.3 per cent in 2025. Long-Term Planning Purchases (14 days+): almost negligible (less than 1 per cent till 2023) at the start, this segment shows growth in 2024 (14.72 per cent) and 2025 (18.85 per cent). 'This rise in last-minute purchases may reflect enhanced event accessibility and spontaneous decision-making', said Moayad Qudus, Senior Business Development Manager at Platinumlist. 'At the same time, the growth in long-term planning could be driven by an increasing number of high-demand international events that require early ticket acquisition.' Accessibility has improved both in price and frequency. Average ticket order values have fallen from SAR 1,400 in 2018 to around SAR 250 today. This means that events become a more affordable and frequent part of everyday life, and are open to a new audience mix, including families, students, and youth segments. That's why the most affordable and popular categories in the last three years are attractions (SAR 109 on average) and Festivals (SAR 213 on average). With the entertainment sector projected to grow at a 10.44 per cent compound annual growth rate (CAGR), Saudi Arabia holds significant potential to shape the global entertainment landscape. Combining its unique cultural heritage with innovative approaches, the Kingdom is well-positioned to achieve its vision of becoming a hub for world-class events and tourism.

Fujifilm Instax ME launches campaign for emerging Saudi music talent
The campaign features 10 emerging Saudi artists who use the Instax Wide EVO camera to document their personal journeys, performances, and milestones bringing together music, culture and analogue creativity. Fujifilm Instax Middle East has announced 'A Picture That Tells My Story,' a new campaign in partnership with Billboard Arabia that celebrates Saudi Arabia's rising generation of musical talent. The initiative marks the second phase of Instax's Emerging Artist Strategy in the Middle East and highlights the brand's growing role as a cultural investor in the region's creative industries. Launched alongside the debut of the Instax Wide EVO, Instax's most advanced hybrid camera to date, the campaign merges music and photography as platforms for self-expression.
