A large humanitarian aid convoy from Egypt has been launched to support the Gaza Strip, in preparation for the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan. The convoy consists of over 460 trucks, carrying over 7,200 tonnes of food and necessary supplies.
Implemented by Tahya Misr Fund, the convoy departed from People's Square in the New Administrative Capital. The aid includes medical supplies, basic dry food items, as well as a variety of drinks, tents, clothes, quilts, blankets, carpets, personal hygiene materials and shelter bags.

Apr 07, 2025 Al Azhar's Global Fatwa Center has issued over 71,000 online fatwas and successfully mediated 500 family and community disputes during Ramadan 1446 AH, according to a new report highlighting the centre's outreach and digital engagement efforts throughout the holy month. Using its digital platforms, the centre responded to 71,354 enquiries from across the world, offering religious guidance on personal, social, and theological matters. Its dedicated 'Reunion Unit' also held 50 awareness sessions in various governorates, aimed at promoting family cohesion and resolving domestic tensions. The centre's 'Bayan Unit', tasked with combating extremist ideology, organised 323 activities including workshops and public discussions to promote balanced Islamic thought. Meanwhile, its 'Psychological Support Unit' provided 380 direct services, helping individuals manage personal and emotional challenges through religious and psychological support. As part of its broader educational mission, the centre produced 243 scientific texts and over 2,500 awareness materials, shared across its social media platforms to reach younger audiences. Media engagement remained a key pillar of outreach, with 1,170 appearances across TV, radio, and online channels. Additionally, 23 livestream sessions addressed current religious issues, and 136,000 educational publications were distributed nationwide. These initiatives seek to position Al Azhar at the forefront of digital religious outreach, reinforcing its role as a key institution shaping contemporary Islamic discourse in Egypt and beyond.

Dar al-Ifta in Egypt responds to confusion over date of Eid al-Fitr
Egypt's Dar al-Ifta issued a statement on Saturday evening following confusion over why Monday has been set as the first day of Eid al-Fitr. Various Arab and Islamic countries such as Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, and Kuwait, declared Sunday as the first day of Eid al-Fitr, while other countries, including Egypt, Syria, and Oman, saw that moon sightings indicate that Eid al-Fitr would instead begin on Monday. It outlined three aspects to respond to the controversy, stating that the established legal basis from the Prophet Muhammad for determining the beginning of lunar months 'is sighting the crescent moon with the naked eye.' The statement added that it 'Adopts a clear methodology that combines established Islamic texts with the reliance on definitive astronomical calculations whose accuracy is scientific certainty. These calculations do not confirm the beginning of the month, but rather deny the possibility of seeing the crescent moon if it is scientifically proven impossible. They thus serve as one criterion for determining the Islamic sighting.' Dar al-Ifta pointed out that, based on this approach, it announced that Ramadan will be completed in 30 days and that Monday, March 31, will be the first day of Eid al-Fitr as a result of the inability to sight the crescent moon as per Islamic law. 'There is no contradiction between Islamic law and modern science; rather, they complement each other in determining the legal times with precision and clarity,' Dar al-Iftaa assured.
