PM leaves for UAE today

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will embark on an official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Thursday (June 12).
The visit reflects the deep-rooted fraternal ties between Pakistan and the UAE, which are marked by mutual trust, shared values, and close cooperation across multiple sectors, said the Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson in a statement.
The prime minister will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, federal ministers, and other senior officers.
Prime Minister Sharif will hold high-level meetings with the UAE leadership, including a bilateral meeting with the President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
A wide range of bilateral, regional, and global issues of mutual interest and concern will be discussed during the high-level interactions.
The Prime Minister's visit will serve to further strengthen the longstanding brotherly relations between Pakistan and the UAE, deepen economic ties, and foster multifaceted collaboration. This visit is a manifestation of Pakistan's and UAE's shared commitment to bolstering the mutually beneficial strategic partnership, enhancing cooperation in existing areas of mutual interest, and exploring new avenues for further strengthening the bilateral cordial relations.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif undertook an official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) on 5–6 June on eve of Eid-ul-Azha. He was accompanied by a high-level delegation.

The leaders agreed to maintain close coordination and continue working together to advance shared goals of regional peace and prosperity. The prime minister reiterated his earlier invitation to the UAE president to visit Pakistan. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Chief of the Army Staff Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir, Federal Minister for Interior Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, Federal Minister for Information & Broadcasting Ataullah Tarar, SAPM Syed Tariq Fatemi were also present in the meeting. Later in a post on X, the prime minister said, "Delighted to meet my dear brother, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, during my official visit to the UAE. I thanked him for the UAE's vital role in easing recent tensions between Pakistan and India. "We reaffirmed our shared commitment to peace, stability, and prosperity in the region. Our deep-rooted ties built on trust and brotherhood, continue to grow stronger, especially in trade and investment. I look forward to welcoming His Highness to Pakistan soon," he added. Digital transformation Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday said the country's resolute commitment amid accelerating journey toward a knowledge economy to digital transformation, global tech engagement and youth empowerment remains unwavering. The prime minister was addressing the Pakistan's participation at London Tech Week 2025, held with all global stakeholders on board. The prime minister congratulated all stakeholders on Pakistan's impactful presence at London Tech Week 2025. "This positions Pakistan as a forward-looking country that is harnessing technology, innovation and youth potential to engage with the world. Our presence at such an important platform reflects our growing digital footprint and global ambition," he said. PM Shehbaz commended the Ministry of IT, PSEB, TDAP, and its tech entrepreneurs for presenting Pakistan with vision and purpose. He commented, "Pakistan's tech future is bright! INSHA ALLAH".

President Asif Ali Zardari expressed sorrow over the tragic loss of life in the plane crash that occurred in Ahmedabad, India on Thursday. "Our heartfelt sympathies and condolences are with the families of the victims who have lost their loved ones in the air crash," the President said. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed profound grief over the tragic crash of an Air India flight near Ahmedabad, which claimed the lives of more than 200 people, including passengers and crew members. The premier conveyed his condolences through a post on X, stating: "Saddened by the tragic crash of Air India flight near Ahmedabad today. We extend our condolences to the families of the victims grieving this immense loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by this heartbreaking tragedy." Defence Minister Khawaja Asif also expressed sorrow on the social media platform, writing: "We are deeply saddened by the tragic crash of Air India Flight AI171 near Ahmedabad today. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the families and loved ones of all aboard. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected." PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif offered his sympathies, remarking: "My heartfelt condolences to the families of the precious lives lost in the tragic Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad. Country's first virtual centre for child safety established

LAHORE: Under the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan's first 'Virtual Centre for Child Safety' has been established with regard to forced child labour under the auspices of Punjab Safe Cities Authority. A team of professional experts in the centre is tasked to carryout search operation for the missing persons, getting in touch with heirs and verifying their credentials. The centre has proven to be an effective in bringing back home not only missing children but also frail elderly people. In case of disappearance of a child or an elderly person of loved ones, there is an easy-to-use contact system at Virtual Centre for Child Safety. It is possible to contact the Virtual Centre for Child Safety immediately by calling the emergency helpline 15 and pressing the button number 3. Citizens across Punjab can contact the Virtual Centre for Child Safety through the Safety App. For the first time, a special helpline 0309-0000015 has also been activated for missing children and citizens of other provinces as well. There is also a facility to report missing children by making a call, sending WhatsApp message or text message on a special helpline. More than 59,635 people have contacted the Virtual Safety Centre to complain about missing persons. 53,542 cases of missing persons have been successfully resolved through Punjab's first Virtual Centre for Child Safety. More than 26,000 people have reached their homes after going missing on account of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif's innovative initiative to establish Virtual Centre for Child Safety. The Chief Minister highlighted 'Children are my red line; I can understand the profound grief of parents in case of their disappearance. Whether children belong to Punjab or any other province, they are all dear to us.' She maintained, 'In case of disappearance, we are determined to fulfil our responsibility of bringing every child home safe and sound. Every citizen of the country can benefit from Pakistan's first Virtual Centre for Child Safety.' She outlined, 'Punjab's first Virtual Centre for Child Safety is a successful initiative of promoting humanitarianism, national solidarity, digital technology and good governance.
