A Moment Like This songwriter and DJ John Reid dies ‘suddenly' aged 61
DJ John Reid, who worked with the likes of Tina Turner, Sir Rod Stewart and more, has died at the age of 61.
The Glasgow-born producer and vocalist is best known for co-writing hits such as the chart-topping Unbreakable for Westlife.
He was also behind Kelly Clarkson's iconic A Moment Like This, later taken to number one in the UK by X Factor winner Leona Lewis.
Mary Kiani, who was engaged to Reid for nine years, shared the devastating news online and wrote: 'Just heard this morning that my first love John Reid died suddenly.'
A cause of death was not revealed by the 56-year-old singer but she shared their love story, which was set against the backdrop of the 90s dance scene.
'We met in Glasgow but fell in love in London. He was recording his album with Roy Hay (Culture Club) for his new band 'This way up',' she continued. 'Myself and Danusia DanooshaZaremba were on tour, and every night we met at the Columbian hotel.
'We bought our first flat in Dennistoun age 21 & 22. We were both doing great with our music. The birth of The Nightcrawlers happened (Push the feeling on). We toured, we recorded, we did our vocal sessions together.
'We parted 9 years later. Last year, I got in touch with him. I said I'd love to say hello again before one of us dies. I saw him just last year in Glasgow. RIP John, Love Bubbs xoXO.'
She wasn't the only one paying tribute to the late DJ, with vocal coach and Red Hot Chilli Pipers singer Chris Judge, writing: 'RIP John Reid, an incredible Scottish singer with so much soul most famous for his vocals in the Nightcrawlers hit push the feeling on ..' More Trending
The track was widely sampled, including by Pitbull, which Judge praised him for and added he was 'an extremely talented topline writer.'
Over the years he wrote for Eternal, Gemini, and Claire Richards as well as his biggest 90s hit with Nightcrawlers, which peaked at number one.
'I remember him from doing road shows all over the country .. back when I was in the boy band days he was always such a nice guy very encouraging and supportive to all the new bands .. he had so much success as a writer but it was his voice I loved he was an incredible singer and well respected like Mary in the session scene doing all the backing vocals working for people like Ian Levine.'
He concluded: 'Sending love to my besty Mary Kiani you guys were the OG Session singers of the 90s l've loved hearing your story's Sjo Big hugs xxx'

JJ Spaun's 'awkward' moment with wife after US Open win as fans say same thing
JJ Spaun won the U.S. Open at Oakmont on Sunday to capture his first career major, but eagle-eyed fans noticed an 'awkward' moment between the golfer and his wife Eagle-eyed fans spotted an "awkward" moment between JJ Spaun and his wife, Melody, just after the American golfer clinched the US Open title. On Sunday, Spaun triumphed over torrential rain and tough conditions at Oakmont to win his first major championship. Only three months earlier, he had faced a heartbreaking defeat to Rory McIlory at The Players' Championship, which he used as fuel for his US Open success. After his exhilarating win, Spaun was quick to celebrate with his two daughters and wife. However, several golf enthusiasts noticed that the 34-year-old seemed to snub his spouse during the initial celebrations. "Search 'JJ Spaun wife.' Glad it's not just our living room who all think he and his wife must not be getting along. Man that was awkward," one social media user commented, while another observed: "Oh there's some drama between Spaun and his wife. They didn't even acknowledge each other," reports the Mirror US. Another wrote: "JJ Spaun at no point even acknowledged his wife after winning." Despite this, Spaun did share a kiss with his wife following his victory, but viewers picked up on the apparent coolness between them. Spaun's victory was particularly remarkable given that he bogeyed five of the first six holes in the final round. The Los Angeles-born golfer then rallied, sinking birdies on four of the last nine holes, including an astonishing 64-foot birdie putt on the 18th to clinch the win at 1-under. "I never thought I would be here holding this trophy," Spaun expressed afterwards, overwhelmed with emotion. "I mean, I've always had aspirations and dreams. "But a few months ago, I never knew what my ceiling was. I never knew how good I could be, but I'm just proud that I've been resilient in my career and pushed through a lot of things and just trying to be the best golfer I can be. And, you know, I'm happy to display that today at Oakmont. "I don't think I did keep my composure, honestly, with all the breaks I was getting," he confessed. I was trying to just dig deep, hit some good shots coming in. But honestly, the weather delay we had kind of just changed the whole vibe for the day. [A] similar thing happened to me at The Players. "So this time I kind of leaned on that whole experience where I came back after the delay at The Players and I just kept pushing. "I'm super fortunate to just have a good support system around me and encourage me and support me in ways that a lot of people don't notice," he gratefully added. "So I'm just proud of how I battled, and I'm super proud to be the U.S. Open champion."

WWE icon, 76, flooded with support from fans after revealing cancer update
WWE legend Ric Flair has informed fans that he must scrap a scheduled meet and greet due to 'health issues'. The 76-year-old retired wrestler was inundated with supportive messages after sharing the update, having announced earlier this month that he had skin cancer. Flair, whose real name is Richard Morgan Fliehr, said at the time that this is his second skin cancer diagnosis in three years. He started undergoing treatment last week. Now, the Memphis-born star has explained that his poor health means he cannot meet his supporters as planned tomorrow. He was due to host the meet-and-greet event at a Mississippi wellness clinic. Taking to Instagram, where he boasts 2.5million followers, he wrote: 'To All My Dear Friends And Fans- I Am So Sorry, That I Will Not Be Able To See You Tuesday. I Have Health Issues, That I Need To Attend To. As I Have Procrastinated Putting My Health First In The Past. Melanoma, I Have Found Out, Is Nothing To Play With. I Promise To See You ASAP. Please Continue To Love Ric Flair Drip, As @ricflairdrip Loves You [sic]'. The WWE Hall of Famer soon had his fans wishing him well in the comments, assuring him that they understand his 'health comes first'. 'God bless you Ric. We love you. ❤️', commented @elainahubble. @chrisbeepz added: 'take it easy legend 🙏🏽'. 'We love you Ric health comes first ❤️', wrote @mayne_dan. The 16-time WWE champ initially denied his cancer diagnosis on X in a bid to keep it private. However, once he felt ready, he confirmed it to People. 'It's the second time in three years that I've been dealing with skin cancer,' he told the outlet. 'I will be undergoing treatment next week.' He also thanked people for their well wishes, adding: 'Appreciate the concerns!' Flair's health woes have been well documented in recent years. In August 2017, he was hospitalised with stomach pains. A few hours later, he was in the early stages of kidney failure. Widely regarded as one of the greatest pro wrestlers of all time, Flair was also close to congestive heart failure. His loved ones were prepared for the worst, as doctors informed them he only had a 20% likelihood of survival, having put him into a medically induced coma, where he remained for 11 days. Flair had a pacemaker fitted and part of his bowel removed. Speaking to People a month after the ordeal, he admitted just how bad it got. 'I crashed in an aeroplane and broke my back; I've been hit by lightning, but this is totally different,' he confessed. 'Anything I've been through before is nothing like this.' Throughout it all was his partner, Wendy Barlow. They were together for 13 years before parting ways in September 2024. However, Flair still cherishes how she cared for him, writing in a social media statement at the time their split became public: 'I'll Never Ever Be Able To Thank Her Enough For Standing By My Side Through My Terrible Health Crisis In 2017.' 'She Never Left My Side! And For That I Will Always Be Grateful! [sic]', he added. Alas, his battles continued in 2019 when Flair was rushed to the Atlanta hospital emergency room after suffering a 'very serious' medical emergency. He went on to have heart surgery once again. Flair's heart problems can be attributed to alcohol abuse, which he discussed in his book, Ric Flair: To Be the Man. He shared that he suffered from alcoholic cardiomyopathy, which is a cardiac disease caused by chronic alcohol consumption 'I had one vice,' Flair told Sports Illustrated in 2017. 'I'm not going to point my finger at anybody else. My vice was drinking. 'I didn't have any pain issues, addiction problems, marijuana, cocaine, nothing like that. It's a fact that I kept myself up all night and always had a good time.' More Trending Flair's wrestling career spanned 50 years before he retired in 2022. The 'Nature Boy' won numerous titles and was named Wrestler of the Year on several occasions. In his 2022 Peacock documentary Woooooo! Becoming Ric Flair, then-wife Barlow said that Flair seemed to rely on his WWE persona to help him through tough times. 'I don't know how he survived,' she said. 'What he did was go back into Ric Flair, to be a character so he didn't have to feel.' If you or someone you care about has been diagnosed with cancer, Macmillan can offer support and information. Tattle Life creator unmasked as anonymous blogger Sebastian Bond
The man behind an online gossip forum where users tear down both famous and regular people has been unmasked. 'Gossip' website Tattle Life first appeared on the internet in 2018 as a website for people to 'fairly' criticise celebrities. Now the man behind Tattle Life has been exposed as plant-based recipe influencer Sebastian Bond, known as Bastian Durward of Nest & Glow. Irish couple Neil and Donna Sands discovered Bond's identity after suing the website for hosting defamatory commentary about them.
