Tom Cruise's co-star Hayley Atwell was eight months pregnant while filming fight scene in Mission: Impossible
In the eighth and reportedly final instalment of the Tom Cruise-led Mission: Impossible series, titled The Final Reckoning, Hayley Atwell reprised her role as Grace. Hayley's character was first introduced in Dead Reckoning Part One as a former thief who becomes an IMF recruit in the Ethan Hunt-led team. But as she bids farewell to her role in the popular franchise, the actor has stepped into a new role—motherhood. Up until now, Hayley had kept it all under wraps, but during a recent appearance on The Jimmy Fallon Show, she revealed filming a fight sequence while pregnant.

'During this fight sequence, we came back to it a few times to add a few elements to it,' the 43-year-old said, right before the host played a clip from the movie. 'In this clip, I'm actually eight and a half months pregnant,' she added. Jimmy, shocked, asked if she was serious, and yes, she was. Hayeley explained that the production team had revisited that particular fight scene multiple times to make changes and add more fight sequences. And by the time they returned for the last round, she was about to pop. However, Hayley added that she didn't back out and continued filming, even when the cast and crew kept offering her a stunt double. She continued, 'And I have to say, I was taken such good care of. Everyone was so supportive, and they were like, 'Oh, you can sit down, and we'll have a stunt double do it.' And I was like, 'No! I've worked too hard. Let me do it.' So I did it, and here it is.'
Hayley first joined the Mission: Impossible franchise in 2023. At the time, her character Grace became a fan favourite, and critics also heaped praise, with demands for her to reprise the role in the next instalment skyrocketing. Her character was introduced as a pickpocket who later becomes Ethan Hunt's ally. Since then, her character has transformed into a full-blown IMF agent helping Ethan fight off a rogue AI that threatens to wipe out humanity. The franchise added a new batch of cast, including Angela Bassett, Nick Offerman, Hannah Waddingham, and Katy O'Brian, while older ones like Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Pom Klementieff, and Esai Morales reprised their roles.
In a previous interview with Collider, Hayley opened up about the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of working on the globally loved franchise alongside Cruise. The actor recalled how the Top Gun star kept her motivated throughout with encouraging words. When asked about her emotions on the last day of filming, Hayley said, 'We filmed Grace's first-ever introduction in the second film, so her first appearance in the movie is the last thing that I shot. I remember that day, Tom had said, 'Movies are not something I do, it's who I am.'' She added, 'And I could see that. I saw that every day for five years. He lives it and breathes it and has devoted his life to it. So, to work with someone with that kind of work ethic is remarkable.' The actor was pressed on rumours suggesting she might be in a Marvel film, which she downplayed, jokingly calling the internet 'a very reliable source.'

Music streaming service Deezer adds AI song tags in fight against fraud
LONDON (AP) — Music streaming service Deezer said Friday that it will start flagging albums with AI-generated songs, part of its fight against streaming fraudsters. Deezer, based in Paris, is grappling with a surge in music on its platform created using artificial intelligence tools it says are being wielded to earn royalties fraudulently. The app will display an on-screen label warning about 'AI-generated content" and notify listeners that some tracks on an album were created with song generators. Deezer is a small player in music streaming, which is dominated by Spotify, Amazon and Apple, but the company said AI-generated music is an 'industry-wide issue.' It's committed to 'safeguarding the rights of artists and songwriters at a time where copyright law is being put into question in favor of training AI models," CEO Alexis Lanternier said in a press release. Deezer's move underscores the disruption caused by generative AI systems, which are trained on the contents of the internet including text, images and audio available online. AI companies are facing a slew of lawsuits challenging their practice of scraping the web for such training data without paying for it. According to an AI song detection tool that Deezer rolled out this year, 18% of songs uploaded to its platform each day, or about 20,000 tracks, are now completely AI generated. Just three months earlier, that number was 10%, Lanternier said in a recent interview. AI has many benefits but it also "creates a lot of questions" for the music industry, Lanternier told The Associated Press. Using AI to make music is fine as long as there's an artist behind it but the problem arises when anyone, or even a bot, can use it to make music, he said. Music fraudsters 'create tons of songs. They upload, they try to get on playlists or recommendations, and as a result they gather royalties,' he said. Musicians can't upload music directly to Deezer or rival platforms like Spotify or Apple Music. Music labels or digital distribution platforms can do it for artists they have contracts with, while anyone else can use a 'self service' distribution company. Fully AI-generated music still accounts for only about 0.5% of total streams on Deezer. But the company said it's 'evident" that fraud is 'the primary purpose" for these songs because it suspects that as many as seven in 10 listens of an AI song are done by streaming "farms" or bots, instead of humans. Any AI songs used for 'stream manipulation' will be cut off from royalty payments, Deezer said. AI has been a hot topic in the music industry, with debates swirling around its creative possibilities as well as concerns about its legality. Two of the most popular AI song generators, Suno and Udio, are being sued by record companies for copyright infringement, and face allegations they exploited recorded works of artists from Chuck Berry to Mariah Carey. Gema, a German royalty-collection group, is suing Suno in a similar case filed in Munich, accusing the service of generating songs that are 'confusingly similar' to original versions by artists it represents, including 'Forever Young' by Alphaville, 'Daddy Cool' by Boney M and Lou Bega's 'Mambo No. 5.' Major record labels are reportedly negotiating with Suno and Udio for compensation, according to news reports earlier this month. To detect songs for tagging, Lanternier says Deezer uses the same generators used to create songs to analyze their output. 'We identify patterns because the song creates such a complex signal. There is lots of information in the song,' Lanternier said. The AI music generators seem to be unable to produce songs without subtle but recognizable patterns, which change constantly. 'So you have to update your tool every day," Lanternier said. "So we keep generating songs to learn, to teach our algorithm. So we're fighting AI with AI.' Fraudsters can earn big money through streaming. Lanternier pointed to a criminal case last year in the U.S., which authorities said was the first ever involving artificially inflated music streaming. Prosecutors charged a man with wire fraud conspiracy, accusing him of generating hundreds of thousands of AI songs and using bots to automatically stream them billions of times, earning at least $10 million.

Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt To Reunite On Screen After 31 Years? Here's What We Know
Last Updated: Brad Pitt said he is open to working with Tom Cruise again, but has one condition. Brad Pitt is open to working with Tom Cruise again, as long as he doesn't have to do any big stunts. The 61-year-old actor hasn't appeared on-screen with the Mission: Impossible star, 62, since 1994's Interview with the Vampire, and Pitt has now revealed he would collaborate with Cruise again, on the condition that his feet stay firmly on the ground. Speaking with E! News, Pitt said: 'Well, I'm not gonna hang my a** off airplanes and s*** like that. So when he does something again that's on the ground [then yes]." Pitt will next be seen in F1 – the high-octane racing movie from Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski. In F1, Pitt plays Sonny Hayes, a retired racer who returns to the track with new blood Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris) in a bid to become the best Formula One driver in the world. While Pitt wants to avoid doing any major stunts in a Tom Cruise movie, the Once Upon A Time In Hollywood actor had driven at 180-miles-per-hour in real Formula One cars for F1. Speaking at a Q+A event in March, Kosinski said: '[Pitt] just had that natural feel for grip in the car, and what we're doing on this film is dangerous. So yeah, you have to be fearless, and when you see Brad driving, that's not acting." He added: 'He's really concentrating on keeping that car on the track and out of the wall during all those scenes. So that's something that you just can't fake, I think. I hope the audience feels that when they watch the movie." The filmmaker added that Pitt had undergone 'months of training" to prepare for the racing scenes, which also involved learning the art of the sport under the tutelage of seven-time Formula One world champion Sir Lewis Hamilton. Kosinski explained: 'Brad and Damson are both driving in this film and in order to get them into these race cars, it required months, literally months of training. But the first day was really fun. It was me, Brad and Lewis Hamilton at the track together, all of us jumping in cars and driving each other around in sports cars, which was one of those things, I'll never forget having Lewis Hamilton as your driving instructor. But what we learned and what Lewis was really interested was seeing did Brad knew how to drive right? Because if Brad can't drive, this whole film wasn't going to work." The director said Hamilton found Pitt to be a 'very talented, naturally gifted driver" when they first sped around the track together. Kosinski said: 'And what Lewis was very happy to discover was that Brad had a lot of just natural ability right from the start. And I don't know where he got that or if he was born with it, and he rides motorcycles, which I think has something to do with it, but he's just a very talented, naturally gifted driver, which for Lewis after that first meeting gave him a lot of confidence that we might have a shot at pulling this off." Brad Pitt Is Open To Working With Tom Cruise, But There Is One Condition
Last Updated: Brad Pitt made it clear that he would not be taking on roles that require him to pull off sky-high stunts. Brad Pitt, who is eyeing the release of his sports-drama F1: The Movie, has opened up on the possibility of sharing the screen space again with Tom Cruise. They were seen together in the 1994 film Interview with the Vampire. In an interview, Pitt said he would love to work with Tom Cruise, but on one condition. Any guesses? No sky-high stunts, please. We get it, Brad Pitt, we get it. In a chat with E! News, Brad Pitt shared, 'I'm not gonna hang my a** off the airplane and s**t like that." Pitt, currently busy with the promotion F1 racing film, talked about his reunion with Cruise. The actor stated he will consider working with Mission: Impossible star 'when he does something again that's on the ground." In the same chat, Pitt went on to talk about some of the unusual habits he developed while working on F1. 'Before getting in the car, I always have to get in on the left side," he said. Pitt added, 'I have to put my left shoe on first, I'd have to put my left glove on first." Talking about Tom Cruise, the actor is well-known for pulling off heart-stopping stunts in his films. In the Mission: Impossible series, he was seen skydiving, flying helicopters, scaling skyscrapers and jumping off a cliff. Earlier, Pitt and Cruise collaborated for the 1994 film, titled Interview with the Vampire. The gothic cult classic saw a rivalry between the two, which even reached the tracks. 'We raced go-karts. He got me in the end. I gotta admit," Pitt recalled. Meanwhile, earlier this year at a Paramount event, Tom Cruise lauded Brad Pitt's driving skills, especially given his upcoming F1 film. F1: The Movie has been directed by Joseph Kosinski. Formula 1 champion and British driver Lewis Hamilton has backed the movie. It will release on June 27. Damson Idris, Javier Bardem and Kerry Condon are also part of the film. First Published:
