📈 MLS Power Rankings: Miami back on top as east dominates top-five
We've had another major shakeup in the top-10 of the MLS power rankings. While the Eastern Conference teams continue to dominate the upper-echelon of the standings, the west has perhaps provided us with the most volatile movement.
Let's dig into this week's top-10.
10. Portland Timbers (no movement)

Phil Neville's side are now unbeaten in six consecutive MLS matches, and after a frankly chaotic 3-3 draw with LAFC over the weekend, they proved that they can absolutely hang with the big-boys under the light.
There may some rumblings of disappointment in the Rose City after the Timbers gave up the lead on two separate occasions Saturday evening, both goals coming in stoppage-time of the respective halves.
9. Austin FC (🆕)

After a short spell out of the top-10, Austin have jumped back into 9th thanks to a narrow win over the LA Galaxy, albeit a woeful LA Galaxy.

Despite spending mega-bucks on their attacking ranks during the last-two offseasons, they have struggled mightily to get them going. However, for the first time this season Austin perhaps have scored a bundle of goals on their way to victory — they will settle for the three points though.
8. LAFC (👎)

LAFC feel as if they could be on the verge of breaking out one week, and the next they require a magical free-kick and stoppage-time penalty to rescue a point. But one thing is for sure, Steve Cherundolo's side remain as talented as any of the top teams in MLS and can put together a run at the drop of a hat.
7. Minnesota United (👎)

It may be harsh on Minnesota to fall a few places after a goalless draw with FC Dallas, but they are simply a victim of the teams around them making big strides in the last seven days.
Eric Ramsay's team is as well-drilled as they come in MLS, but a little bit of star-dust can sometimes be lacking when they need it most.
6. Cincinnati (👍)
📸 Amber Searls-Imagn Images
After a slump in MLS in the midst of their Concacaf Champions Cup run, Cincinnati have a bounced back quite well, winning four in a row to remind the league why they remain one of the true MLS Cup contenders.
Just give Cincinnati a few more weeks and they will keep on creeping up towards the top of the standings.
5. Philadelphia Union (👍)

The Union responded well to a min-slump with a superb 3-0 victory over Atlanta United, and thanks to their red-hot start to the season are still just three points out of top-spot in the Eastern Conference. And when you have the MLS golden boot leader up front, you'll always be in with a shout.
4. Columbus Crew (👎)

The Crew drop in our rankings for the first time in a long time after a 'home' loss to Inter Miami. Columbus' lack of a ruthless number-nine was on full display in a game they dominated, but somehow found a way to draw a blank.
3. Charlotte FC (👍)

Dean Smith's side continue to roll and they impressed wholeheartedly in a thumping victory over San Diego on Saturday.
That is now eight straight games at home without tasting defeat for Charlotte, and a pearly seat at the top of the Eastern Conference.
2. Vancouver Whitecaps (👎)

Vancouver may have only sat atop our rankings for one week but you can hang your hat on them making a return at some point this season.
The high-flying 'Caps touched earth for 90 minutes in a hard-fought goalless draw with St. Louis City this past weekend, but you can't help but wonder if they have their sights set on a Concacaf Champions Cup showdown with Inter Miami later this week.
1. Inter Miami (👍)

Speak of the devil, Inter Miami are back on top. They rode their luck in Cleveland on Saturday, but Javier Mascherano's side seemingly always find a way to win when the chips are down.

Chelsea announce players for Club World Cup; these stars couldn't make it to the list
Chelsea have announced the list of players who are left out of Chelsea's squad for the upcoming Club World Cup 2025. By Ravi Kumar Jha Published on June 12, 2025, 08:30 IST Chelsea have announced the list of players who are left out of Chelsea's squad for the upcoming Club World Cup 2025. The new competition brings a lot of energy to the teams and Chelsea after winning Europa Conference League is also been named in one of the groups. Chelsea's 28-man squad for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup in the USA was officially revealed on June 11, 2025. Following their UEFA Conference League triumph, the Blues are set to compete in Group D—alongside LA FC (Mexico), Flamengo (Brazil), and ES Tunis (Tunisia). However, the announcement was met with controversy as eight notable players were left out: João Félix Djordje Petrovic Axel Disasi Raheem Sterling Ben Chilwell Kendry Paez Renato Veiga Wesley Fofana (excluded due to hamstring injury) For many of those left out, especially Félix, Sterling, Petrovic, Disasi, and Chilwell, this exclusion appears to be more than a tournament decision; it's a clear signal of summer exits being planned. Moreso, Chelsea's focus is shifting toward youth, rejuvenation, and financial pragmatism as they look to reshape the squad after a mixed season. Portion Of Falcons Schedule Allows Them To Create Space In The NFC South Division
Portion Of Falcons Schedule Allows Them To Create Space In The NFC South Division originally appeared on Athlon Sports. According to NFL schedule experts, since the NFL has experts in every aspect of the game, the Atlanta Falcons have the 20th-ranked strength of schedule for the 2025 NFL season. Advertisement The Falcons are ranked 17th in the league in terms of difficulty alone. However, they will play against seven teams that were over .500 last season. Three of those teams had at least twelve wins, and six had fewer than six wins. Six of Atlanta's games will be against teams that made the playoffs last year. Numbers and math are complex, but a portion of Atlanta's schedule could present them with an opportunity to rattle off a few straight wins and set themselves up for a run at the NFC South division title. Looking at the schedule and eyeing weeks 8 through 17 could give Atlanta just what they need to turn this thing around and make their first playoff appearance since 2017. Falcons GM Terry Fontenot speaks to the media at the NFL Scouting Combine. Kirby Lee-Imagn Images In week 8, the Falcons will take on the Miami Dolphins at home. They will hit the road in week 9 for a date with the New England Patriots, then return home for a week 10 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts. During this stretch, Atlanta could be looking at rattling off three wins in a row and propelling the team to a first-place division lead. Advertisement In Week 11, the Falcons will have a home game against the Carolina Panthers. Yes, they will be better across the board, but Atlanta could prove to be too much offensively. Week 12 at the New Orleans Saints is always a toss-up due to the bitter rivalry, but Atlanta could also snag a win here, depending on the Saints' QB situation. Weeks 13 and 14 will feature Atlanta taking on the New York Giants and Seattle Seahawks at home. Atlanta could be looking at a six- or seven-game win streak at this point in the season. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers in week 15 are another division toss-up. Weeks 16 and 17 will bring on the Arizona Cardinals and the Los Angeles Rams. All of this is speculation, and the Atlanta Falcons will need to develop the chemistry this summer with all of the new additions on defense. However, the offensive side of the ball can be a very potent weapon for the foreseeable future in the NFL and should propel Atlanta to the top of the NFC South. Michael Jordan News Emerges Amid $40 Million NBA Return Rumors
Michael Jordan News Emerges Amid $40 Million NBA Return Rumors originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Michael Jordan, widely considered the greatest basketball player of all time, is set to return to the NBA next season. While he won't be suiting up and stepping on the court, he'll be taking on a new role. With the league's broadcast moving from TNT to NBC for the 2025-26 season, Jordan will serve as a "special contributor" for NBC's coverage. Advertisement His exact role hasn't been announced, but getting the six-time NBA champion to come out of retirement and appear on television likely took a lot. On the "PBD Podcast," Patrick Bet-David mentioned that Jordan is reportedly receiving a $40 million annual deal. Michael Jordan is honored for being selected to the NBA 75th Anniversary Terada-Imagn Images On Monday, Ryan Glasspiegel of Front Office Sports (FOS) confirmed that the amount is inaccurate. "A source tells Front Office Sports that this number, which is about twice what Charles Barkley makes per year from TNT, is inaccurate. NBC declined to comment," Glasspiegel wrote. Despite the NBA's coverage moving on from TNT, Barkley is still under contract with the network as he prepares to work for both TNT and ESPN next season. He signed a 10-year, $210 million extension with TNT in 2022, according to FOS's Michael McCarthy. Advertisement ESPN's Stephen A. Smith was on that episode of the "PDBD Podcast" and shared he thinks Jordan will be "brutally honest" when he's on the air next season. "Let me tell you something about Michael Jordan: He's going to be brutally honest—oh, I can assure you that,' Smith said. "He's not going to be somebody who's going to be passive…The Michael Jordan I know, when talking basketball, he is as candid as it gets. He ain't trying to hurt nobody's feelings. He ain't trying to be insulting but he's going to tell you what's going on."
