Five's Ritchie Neville is engaged! Singer pops the question to 'nicest soul ever' during romantic trip to Italy

Daily Mail14-06-2025
Five star Ritchie Neville has revealed he is engaged as he popped the question to a woman he confessed has felt 'like his wife since the day they met'.
The singer, 45, appeared elated as he took to Instagram on Friday to announce he has asked his girlfriend, whose name is not known to the public, to marry him.
Sharing a sweet selfie of the pair in Italy, Ritchie beamed at the camera as his now fiancee flaunted her huge diamond ring.
Announcing his news to his 57,000 followers, he confessed that the brunette beauty had the 'nicest soul ever'.
Alongside his loved-up snap, he penned: 'So…….this happened. Met the nicest soul ever and she felt like my wife the minute I met her.' He also added a blue love heart emoji to the end of the message.'

They appeared to enjoyed a romantic break in Florence for the big occasion and returned back to Britain on Friday after announcing the development.
Friends and fans of the star flocked to the comment section to add their congratulatory messages.
One penned: 'Congratulations Rich. That's great news, happy for you both x.'
'Congratulations mate, wishing you both all the love in the world and the most beautiful wedded life together….Big Love C&Jxx.'
'Aww congratulations both, finding your forever person is the BEST!!!'
Richie's big announcement comes just month after he reflected on his two-year romance with Billie Piper as he expressed his 'regret' at breaking her heart.
The couple met when they were teenagers, having just been thrust into the spotlight with their respective pop careers.
Reflecting on their romance, which ended in 2000 when Ritchie was unfaithful, he shared on BBC documentary, Boybands Forever: 'Billie and I, we met backstage.
'And it was really weird because we walked up backstage to say hello and we hugged. And it was really odd because we just stood hugging for 10 minutes.
'Ultimately we were kids that had been thrown into a lions' pit. We were each other's safe place. It was very much young love in a very strange environment, in a very strange life.'
For two years the couple were love's young dream, but it all came crashing down when Ritchie fell victim to a honey trap - being seduced by a Russian beauty while on tour in the country - who subsequently sold her story to the press.
Reflecting on when he met the temptress, Ritchie confessed it did cross his mind that it was 'slightly odd' but ultimately he ended up back in bed with her.
Cringing as he remembered The Sun newspaper's headline at the time - in which Ritchie was described as taking off the beauty's skirt with his teeth - he winced: 'It's almost like a porn story!'
Sharing his upset at the fallout, Ritchie, 45, continued: 'It massively hurt somebody that I loved.
'I regret any pain I caused but equally I was 19 you know? I made a mistake. It ended a relationship.'
Billie, 42, previously revealed how finding fame at an early age 'suffocated her' and that she and Ritchie would spend several days locked in her flat, turning her into a 'recluse'.
The singer became a superstar overnight at the age of 15, when she became the youngest female artist to have a number one hit in 1998.
She told Fault magazine: 'When you're a pop star you're always on duty. You're suddenly a role model even though you don't start out with ambitions of being a role model and also you're a fallible mess yourself.
'So trying to keep some resemblance of togetherness and good behavior was just shit as a teenager.
'Mostly that you couldn't walk anywhere without people wanting pictures and autographs and I found that so suffocating. We all did at that time.
'I went out with Rich from Five and we used to just sit in our flat for days, if we weren't working, and never leave. It made you really reclusive. That's the stuff I hated.'

Louis Theroux questions polyamory and 'trying everything on the buffet' as he admits marriage can be imprisoning in candid chat on his relationship

Louis Theroux questioned polyamory and 'getting to try everything on the buffet' in a candid new interview about love, relationships and his broadcasting career. Speaking with Rylan on the finale of BBC Sounds How to Be in Love on Wednesday, the documentary maker, 55, gave a rare insight into his relationship. Louis, who has been married to his wife Nancy Strang since 2012, quipped that while he has 'no plans' to be polyamorous, getting to the 'end of your life' without having fully explored everything could leave people with regrets. After meeting throuples and visiting marriage agencies in Thailand thanks to his documentaries, he shared how his career has challenged his thoughts on love. Louis told Rylan: 'I've never been [polyamorous], and I've no plans to. What I would also say is that what about being monogamous? 'Like, if you marry, marriage has been around for thousands of years, probably 2,000 / 3,000 years ago, people lived to be about 45, 50 if they were lucky.' He continued: 'You would be married for maybe 20 or 30 years. Now we live to be 90, 100, 110. You could be married for 90 years. 'Can you imagine being with one partner for 90 years? Would that be a life well lived? 'I mean, it's a bit almost crass to define things in those terms but it does feel imprisoning in an odd way, and don't you want to get to the end of your life and feel that you absolutely tried everything on the buffet?' Louis recalled the moment he fell in love with his wife Nancy and also candidly admitted that their relationship 'wasn't always easy.' He added: 'As someone who's been with my wife Nancy for more than 20 years, you've got to survive when the ecstasy isn't present in every moment. 'So love is also a practice, it's a discipline. You should think of it as the daily commitment you make to someone that you care about. 'The moment I fell in love with my wife was when I saw her dancing for the first time. It was like a second or third date, might have been fourth, and I realised that she had these moves. 'She's a dancer like not by training but just by natural she has a natural talent anyone who's seen her dance would tell you that.' Louis said: 'Can you imagine being with one partner for 90 years? Would that be a life well lived? 'It's a bit almost crass to define things in those terms but it does feel imprisoning' Louis revealed that at times in their relationship he 'wasn't always the man he needed to be' which caused problems. He explained: 'It took that kind of crisis of uncertainty to bring it to focus which led to us getting married. 'There was a time in our relationship when I thought I was in danger of losing her. And sometimes it's a terrible cliche, but the feeling of not knowing what you've got till it's gone. 'And that feeling of, it kind of brought everything into focus for me, but that moment, so the answer to the question is the moment of being in danger of losing Nancy was when I most keenly felt how committed I was to her.' The documentarian tied the knot with Nancy back in 2012, and they share three sons Albert, Frederick, and Walter.

Talking Heads frontman David Byrne engaged to much-younger girlfriend after nearly a decade of dating

Talking Heads frontman David Byrne revealed he is engaged to his much younger girlfriend Mala Gaonkar. The 73-year-old musician and Gaonkar, 55, have been dating for nearly a decade, after first meeting in 2016 while working on a production for The Makers series at Stanford Arts Institute. Byrne confirmed the happy engagement news in an interview with The Times, published on Saturday. While discussing his upcoming album, Who Is The Sky?, he referred to Gaonkar as his 'fiancée.' 'My fiancée will sometimes come at me with greasy hands, ready to smear my face. And at one point I thought, "What if I wake up and really looked younger?"' he told the publication. 'But there's a message, too. About how people judge us by the way we look. You learn a lesson you didn't expect at the start.'

This is what Katie Price told me after her toxic split from Peter Andre, what really sparked her new feud with daughter Princess and why his friends say the truth is finally coming out: KATIE HIND

It was a constant theme in my conversations with those close to Katie Price when writing about the glamour model's split from Peter Andre back in 2009. 'Katie wants the best for her children, that's all she cares about,' was her publicist's constant refrain. If we believed all of Team Katie's briefings since Peter dumped her after four years of marriage, she'd have been Mum of the Year ten times over.
