Clément Turpin to referee Sunday's Classico between PSG and Marseille
According to a report by L'Équipe, Clément Turpin will be the referee chosen to oversee this weekend's Classique clash between Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique de Marseille at the Parc des Princes, (20:25 CET). The 42-year-old referee has already officiated 30 times this season, and will be taking charge of his eighth Classique, with PSG winning on six occasions and OM earning one draw. Les Olympiens will be hoping to show they've made progress since the 3-0 win for Les Parisiens at the Vélodrome earlier this season. Luis Enrique's PSG, however, face a Champions League Round of 16 second leg clash against Liverpool tonight before preparing for the match against their rivals this weekend. There have been no major worries from OM in recent games officiated by Stéphanie Frappart, and Thomas Léonard, since the controversy surrounding Jérémy Stinat, who sent off defender Derek Cornlelius to the indignation of Marseille president Pablo Longoria, who accused Ligue 1 referees of 'corruption' – subsequently receiving a 15-match suspension.GFFN | George Boxall

Real Madrid rule out summer return for former academy ace
NIco Paz was well on Real Madrid's radar as they looked to improve their depth in midfield ahead of the new season. The Argentine starlet, after all, has been brilliant in the Serie A with Como and his great numbers for club and country coupled with the low clause Real Madrid had to execute his signing made him a perfect candidate. Advertisement Last week, the offices at the Valdebebas were convinced that he was the midfield signing that would give Xabi Alonso the required depth in midfield. The player, however, was uncertain of returning and worried about being sidelined once more. Real Madrid press halt on Nico return A week later, the situation has completely turned on its head as Los Blancos have now decided that Paz will not return back this summer. They have closed the interest from their end as relayed by OK Diario. As confirmed by the Spanish outlet, the key factor behind Real Madrid withdrawing from the race to sign Paz is the Franco Mastantuono deal that is coming along well. Nico Paz unlikely to return to Madrid this summer. (Photo by) The River Plate youngster, after all, is one of the brightest and most promising midfield prospects in world football. He was close to joining PSG just last week, but Real Madrid swiftly swooped in and are now favourites. Advertisement As it stands, it looks like the men in white have an agreement in place with the prodigy and he is set to join the club after the FIFA Club World Cup. Thus, they see no further need to sign any new midfielders. To bring him to the Santiago Bernabeu, the Merengues will shell out the player's release clause and an official announcement can be expected in the next week. Whether he links up with the team before or after the Club World Cup still remains to be seen.
