Klang road rage: Driver arrested after intentionally ramming motorcyclist who hit his windscreen
SHAH ALAM, April 27 — Police have arrested a man to assist in investigations into a case of intentionally crashing into a motorcyclist at Jalan Dato Yusof Shahbudin 28, Bandar Sentosa in Klang yesterday.
Klang Selatan police chief ACP Ramli Kasa said the 37-year-old man, who was held at 1.15am today in Klang, has four previous criminal records and has been remanded for four days until Wednesday (April 30).
'An investigation paper has been opened under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder and it will be referred to the deputy public prosecutor soon,' he said in a statement today.
He added that police received a call from the public at 10.20pm yesterday notifying them of an argument involving a car driver and a motorcyclist before the driver allegedly rammed his vehicle into the motorcyclist.
He said that during the incident, the 50-year-old was riding his motorcycle and tried to avoid some bumps on the road but his action resulted in the driver assuming that he (the victim) was riding recklessly.
'The suspect then honked at the motorcyclist, following which the motorcyclist chased after the driver and an argument broke out.
'During the argument, the motorcyclist hit the car's windscreen with his helmet and the driver then rammed the victim until his motorcycle was dragged under the car,' he said.
Ramli said the suspect then left the scene while the victim was taken to the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) in Klang.
'The victim suffered injuries to both legs and shoulders while his left shoulder joint was dislocated. He is in stable condition,' he said while urging the public not to share the video clip of the incident so that it does not cause concern to the community.

DAP to issue statement on Teoh Beng Hock case, says Loke
PETALING JAYA: DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke said his party will issue a statement on the Teoh Beng Hock case soon. He however did not indicate a specific time for the statement's release. Beng Hock's sister, Lee Lan expressed her dismay over the decision for no further action (NFA), especially given that multiple court rulings had established the death was not due to suicide or an accident. She said that the Court of Appeal had ruled in 2014 that Beng Hock's death was caused by the actions of individuals, including Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers, and demanded that the police investigate the case under the proper criminal provisions. She also called for those currently in the government to act appropriately as they had in the past stood by the fact that he was killed. Last month, the Teoh Beng Hock Association for Democratic Advancement called for DAP's five ministers to resign in protest over the NFA. Association chairperson Ng Yap Hwa said the ministers - Loke, Gobind Singh Deo, Nga Kor Ming, Sim Chee Keong, and Hannah Yeoh - should take responsibility on the party's behalf for failing to fulfil promises to seek justice for Beng Hock. Beng Hock's family had earlier been informed by police that their latest investigation into the case had been classified as requiring no further action or NFA. On Nov 21 last year, the High Court had directed the police to complete their long-delayed investigation into the death more than 15 years ago. Beng Hock died on July 16, 2009 at the fifth floor of Plaza Masalam, Shah Alam, after being questioned for hours by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). An inquest was held and the coroner returned an open verdict. However, the Court of Appeal in 2014 ruled that his death was caused by "one or more persons unknown", including MACC officers. In 2019, police launched an investigation under Section 342 of the Penal Code for wrongful confinement. Prior to 2018, two special investigation teams were set up – one in 2011 and the other in 2015 – to look into Teoh's death, but both cases were classified as NFA by the public prosecutor.

Man believed high on drugs attacks wife with electric guitar
TAWAU: A man suspected of being under the influence of drugs allegedly assaulted and threatened his wife with an electric guitar and scissors at Kampung Tanah Merah, Merotai Besar here, yesterday. The 44-year-old suspect reportedly became enraged at 7.13pm after his 36-year-old wife confronted him over suspicions of drug use involving syabu. Tawau district police chief Assistant Commissioner Jasmin Hussin said the man struck the victim's right shoulder with an electric guitar and then pointed scissors at her, threatening to stab her multiple times. He added that the suspect also punctured all four tyres of his wife's car to stop her from leaving to lodge a police report. "However, thanks to the swift action by police, the suspect was arrested near their home around 11.35pm following the victim's report," he said in a statement. Jasmin said police also seized the electric guitar and scissors used in the incident. "The suspect is now in custody to assist with investigations under Sections 323 and 506 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt and criminal intimidation," he said.

Police receive seven reports after 80 haj pilgrims stranded at KLIA
KUALA LUMPUR: Police have confirmed receiving reports on the 80 haj pilgrims stranded at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) after being duped with the offer to perform haj using Mujamalah visas. Dang Wangi district police chief ACP Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman said so far, seven reports have been lodged by the affected individuals. 'I can confirm that we have received the reports, and the case is being investigated under Sections 420 and 511 of the Penal Code,' he said in a statement today. Yesterday, the media reported that around 80 individuals preparing to depart for the Haj were stopped by a special task force at KLIA, reportedly after their travel agency had arranged for them to travel using tourist visas instead of the promised Mujamalah visas. The pilgrims reportedly failed to obtain the Mujamalah visa due to a technical issue with the Nusuk system. However, the travel agency allegedly insisted on flying them out using tourist visas, resulting in them being denied departure. The Mujamalah visa is a special visa issued by the government of Saudi Arabia to certain individuals or groups and is not part of the official Haj quota allocated to Malaysia.
