One man arrested, another at-large in alleged Covington store theft
ST. TAMMANY PARISH, La. (WGNO) — A New Orleans man is in a St. Tammany Parish jail accused of stealing thousands of dollars of merchandise from a Covington area store.
St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office deputies reported one suspect, 25-year-old Basil Martin Jr., was recently featured in their 'Whodat Wednesday' video , highlighting criminal they are searching for.
Orleans Parish law enforcement millage renewal passes by two votes
Deputies said Martin was caught on camera twice, allegedly stealing over $2,000 worth of 'high-end' curling irons, styling tools and perfumes.
On March 7, he reportedly entered the store and took items valued at $2,203.89. He then returned on March 10 with an accomplice and allegedly stole $1,571.91 worth of products, according to deputies.
The two also reportedly stole $65.98 worth of items from a neighboring business.
Through an investigation, deputies identified Martin and his accomplice, 26-year-old Keith Gutter from Chalmette.
Man wanted in connection with Kentwood homicide in custody
With assistance from the New Orleans Police Department, Martin was found and booked as a fugitive into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail on April 22 for similar crime committed in Hammond.
On April 29, he was transferred to the St. Tammany Parish Jail on one count of theft under $1,000 and two counts of theft between $1,000 and $5,000.
STPSO deputies are still searching for Gutter who is wanted on charges of theft under $1,000 and theft between $1,000 and $5,000.

Jail records show that Jones was booked into Kenton County Jail on June 7 and is facing charges of public intoxication, disorderly conduct and assaulting a police officer. The former Bengals player was arrested by Covington police and booked at 1:51 a.m. ET. Records show that Jones was later released after posting bond at 11:32 a.m. ET. Covington police officers were called to the Second Story Bar on West Sixth Street at approximately 12:44 a.m. on June 7 following a report of a "disturbance involving a customer and an employee," police said in a news release. When police arrived, they were alerted to a car trying to leave the area, per the release. Officers conducted a traffic stop and the 41-year-old Jones was identified as a passenger. Police arrested Jones "on charges related to his level of intoxication and his behavior," according to the release. Officials said he'd been consuming alcohol. Jones was transported to the Kenton County Detention Center and assaulted the arresting officer while being lodged, police say. Officials said it caused a minor injury. "The Covington Police Department takes incidents of this nature very seriously. We are committed to maintaining peace and ensuring the safety of all who live in or visit Covington," the department said. "Adam Jones is being held to the same standard of conduct as any other individual in our community." Jones has a history of legal issues. He was arrested in November for an altercation at a Dallas hotel following the Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul fight. A year earlier, Jones pleaded guilty to a disorderly conduct charge in Boone County District Court. The former Bengals standout was arrested early Sept. 11 after Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport police responded to a call about an unruly passenger on a United Airlines flight, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail, but that sentence was conditionally discharged for two years, provided Jones avoided new criminal charges. Firefighters respond to St. Tammany Parish house fire
ST. TAMMANY PARISH, La. (WGNO) — Firefighters responded to a home in St. Tammany Parish after it caught fire on Saturday morning, June 7. According to the St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 11, their units, as well as units from District No. 1, were called to a home on James Crosby Road off of Highway 41. 6-year-old, 12-year-old killed in Terrebonne Parish crash On scene, the small house was found heavily covered by flames. Responders managed to extinguish the fire, although the house was significantly damaged. All occupants escaped without injury and the American Red Cross has been contacted to help them. Cut Off couple arrested on drug charges
CUT OFF, La. (WGNO) — A Cut Off couple has been arrested following a traffic stop turned drug bust that occurred on Monday. According to the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office, the investigation started when agents received a tip from Bayou Region Crime Stoppers back in November of 2024. As a result of the tip, an arrest warrant was obtained for 47-year-old Trent Sanamo and a search warrant was obtained for his home. Slidell 17-year-old accused of armed robbery Later, on June 2, 2025, Trent and his wife, 44-year-old Chasity Sanamo, were found traveling in the Cut Off area, prompting agents to perform a traffic stop. Trent was arrested on the active warrant and deputies say methamphetamine, clonazepam and drug paraphernalia were all found in his possession. They also say his wife was found with drug paraphernalia. Trent was booked into the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex on charges of distribution of methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession of clonazepam and possession of drug paraphernalia, with a bail set at $57,000. Chasity was issued a criminal summons for possession of drug paraphernalia.
