Smith mounts triple assault on Scone midweek meeting
Smith will link with leading apprentice Anna Roper when she partners Lady Memphis in the Agnes
Marshall Class 1 Handicap (900m), while Ashley Morgan will have the reins on Omaha Sand in the
Heather Ashford Maiden Handicap (1300m) and Dubai Warrior in the Coolmore Class 1 & Maiden
Plate (1600m).
'The team have all been running well of late,' Smith said. 'There's no reason that will stop now.'
Lady Memphis is a filly by Invader that has only had two starts. She ran second behind top-class performer and The TAB Everest contender Private Harry on debut.
She backed that up with a dominant on pace triumph at Goulburn when racing on the speed and
fighting on too strongly.
She's had two trials leading into this resuming effort.
Omaha Sand is also resuming from a spell after three barrier trials.
He's had three starts and has been unplaced in each of them and hasn't raced since December when
finishing down the track at Newcastle.
'He's had two barrier trials leading into this first-up run,' Smith said.

Don't miss out on the headlines from Horse Racing. Followed categories will be added to My News. Cyber City's owner Andrew Knox is laughing all the way to the bank after he collected more than $15,000 for a $200 outlay when his roughie caused a huge upset at Doomben on Saturday. Ladbrokes offered me an owner's bet – for up to $2000 you get your money back if the horse runs second or third. 'The night before when it came through on my phone it was $61 so I was kicking myself I didn't get on at that price. 'I picked up $15,000 for $200. I went and bought a carton of beer, I've got it in the fridge now. 'When he turned into the corner, I knew he had them because I was watching all the horses behind him and they just weren't progressing forward. 'I thought 'we've got this' and then when he started to kick around the 200m mark I thought 'this is over'.' • Maloney warms up for Melbourne mission with Doomben double Knox said he wasn't surprised at Cyber City's victory, believing the gelding should have won his previous race after being caught wide in a Maiden Plate (1100m) at Ipswich on July 31. Before that, Cyber City finished sixth to the Paul Shailer-trained filly Ha'penny Hatch, who went on to run in the $1m Group 2 BRC Sires Produce Stakes (1400m) at Eagle Farm in late May. 'If you go back and watch the replay, my horse could've beaten him that day or at least it would've been a fight at the end,' the 61-year-old Knox said. 'Cyber City got caught in a bunch of horses and got boxed in. He pulled up a little bit sore after the race so we put him in the paddock. 'He comes from a really good family. I've had the mare (Star Council) since about 2003 – I bought her as a yearling from the Brisbane Bloodstock sales.' The David Murphy-trained Cyber City wins at big odds at Doomben on Saturday. Picture: Grant Peters / Trackside Photography • Concussed jockey 'should never have been allowed to go home' After saluting at Doomben on Saturday at 52kg, jockey Taylor Marshall said Cyber City had 'plenty of potential, he's very untapped and raw'. Murphy was worried that the 'aggressive' galloper would go too hard early but Marshall did well to get him into a nice rhythm. 'Once he gets a bit of experience then he'll settle down because he's like a bull at a gate at the moment,' said Knox, who was born and raised in Longreach and now flies between Brisbane and Western Australia as a FIFO mines worker driving road-trains. 'I know he'll get to a mile because the whole family have been really good milers. 'Longshoreman (whose dam was Star Council) was a very good horse over a mile, he won a Balaklava Cup (in 2014). 'Next year he'll be a really good winter carnival horse, that's what David's opinion was.' Boos rain down as Collingwood superstar Nick Daicos given controversial free kick against Adelaide
AFL fans have called out Collingwood superstar Nick Daicos for playing for a free kick in the first quarter of Saturday night's blockbuster clash against Adelaide. Daicos and veteran Crow Brodie Smith were involved in a push and shove right under the umpire's nose at a stoppage. WATCH THE VIDEO ABOVE: Nick Daicos given free kick after tangle with Brodie Smith. Know the news with the 7NEWS app: Download today The Brownlow Medal favourite hit Smith with an aggressive shove to the chest before Smith retaliated with a near identical blow. But then Smith gave Daicos another shot to the chest region that caused the gun Magpie squat down. The umpire immediately paid a free kick as the pro-Adelaide crowd made their feelings felt with a chorus of boos. The resulting free kick gave the Pies another inside 50 to continue their dominant start. While it didn't amount to a goal, social media lit up when a clip of the free kick was posted. 'My thoughts are that Daicos is umpired completely differently to other players,' one fan said. 'He's a champion, but gee I hate seeing him flop like this. Just looks horrible,' another said. 'The only player in the comp that gets this free kick,' another said. 'Soft, weak protected species, embarrassing. The commentators said nothing which speaks volumes,' another added. 'The fact the umpire falls for that and pays it is a joke,' another said. While the majority of the fans turned on Daicos, who is often targeted by opposition fans, there were some who said there was no need for Smith to do it. They had already given each other one each before Smith's extra blow forced the umpire into action. 'Umpires have to penalise the first action. They'll stop this within two weeks if they start giving away frees,' one fan said. 'Maybe don't punch a guy in the chest?' another said. It remains to be seen whether Smith will come under match review scrutiny for the incident. St Kilda tagger Marcus Windhager was fined for a similar blow to Daicos' chest earlier this season.

John Baggetta: Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault football coach sacked over shocking Tammy Hembrow slur
A prominent WA country football coach has been sacked by his club after he used a highly-offensive and sexist comment towards the influencer girlfriend of AFL star Bailey Smith. John Baggetta — who was the coach of South West Football League powerhouse Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault's league side — left the now-deleted comment on a story about influencer Tammy Hembrow and Geelong player Smith being seen together on a 'date'. Baggetta described Hembrow as a 'c.m bucket' on a post sharing an article about her new romance with the football star and model. The post was called out online by a feminist advocacy group late on Thursday which was shared widely on social media. The club confirmed the well-known country football figure was sacked on Friday in a statement where its board of directors said the 'do not condone these comments and they do not reflect the values or standards of the Harvey Brunswick Leschenault Football Club at any level'. When contacted by The West Australian on Friday, Baggetta said he was 'regretful' for what he called a 'mistake' and 'error in judgement', but he would 'live and learn and move on'. Baggetta returned to the Lions, where he won a premiership in 2019, midway through this season. He has also previously coached Bunbury-based club Carey Park to a flag. The club also has a long-standing women's program and one of the region's biggest junior programs. The club revealed it had consulted with its women's team over the decision and 'committed to offering them and all the females in our club any support necessary'. 'We have a large junior base of players, parents, supporters, officials and others that also believe that such comments are not appropriate, and not to be tolerated in society,' its statement read. 'We are incredibly proud to have a women's team, female representation on our board and women actively involved as members of our club.' Hembrow and Smith were spotted on what appeared to be a date in Queensland — and again after his game in Geelong last week — just weeks after she announced her divorce from former reality star and podcaster Matt Zukowski. The pair were seen at the popular Burleigh Pavilion just over a week ago, where witnesses claimed they were holding hands and kissing for hours. It is the second major incident of overt sexism in the powerful country league and comes three years after a male club leader at South Bunbury Football Club was forced to apologise for making offensive comments to female players at a season launch. HBL's league side, who sit fourth on the ladder, will play Carey Park at Kelly Park in Bunbury tomorrow, where a win will secure their place in the finals.
