Prince William offers cheeky response to fan who called him ‘beautiful'
Prince William wasn't looking for a compliment — but he got one anyway.
The 42-year-old Prince of Wales accompanied his wife, Kate Middleton, in Glasgow, Scotland, on May 22 for the official ship-naming of the HMS Glasgow.
The Princess of Wales, 43, was appointed as the sponsor of the anti-submarine frigate in June 2021.
In one viral clip from their visit, the couple are walking through a crowd of fans and followers when a woman shouted, 'You're beautiful!' at Middleton. 'You too, William!' the woman quickly added.
William, who initially laughed at the compliment, looked back and quipped, 'You didn't have to say that. Don't worry.' His response prompted a sea of laughter from the crowd.
Middleton was dressed in a navy blue and white coat dress by Suzannah London and a matching white saucer hat courtesy of Philip Treacy, according to Elle.
William complimented his wife's nautical theme well with a navy suit, white shirt and striped tie.
As is tradition when naming a ship, Middleton briefly spoke to a crowd of people before releasing a bottle of whiskey that was broken against the hull of HMS Glasgow.
'I have the pleasure to name this ship: HMS Glasgow,' Middleton said in her remarks. 'May God bless her and all who sail on her.'
The Duke and Duchess of Rothesay, as Kate and William are known in Scotland, did plenty of laughing during their Glasgow visit.
In another funny interaction, the couple were testing their pipe-building skills with apprentices onboard the ship. At one point in the exercise, apprentice Natalie Black tells Kate that it looks like she's done it before.
According to Hello! Magazine, Kate credited her skill to her experience playing with kid's toys.
When all was said and done, one of the practitioners announced Kate the winner — but not for long.
As seen in the clip above, shared by Sky News' reporter Rhiannon Mills, part of Middleton's construction collapsed just as she was being announced the winner.
According to the BBC, HMS Glasgow is the ninth Royal Navy warship to be named after the city.
It's also the first of eight Type 26 frigates to enter service and was designed to 'provide critical protection for the UK's nuclear deterrent and aircraft carriers,' according to the Ministry of Defence.
The ship is expected to be operational by 2028, with the rest of the fleet to be completed in the next decade.
Kate and William's visit comes less than one month after the couple celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary with an official visit to the Isle of Mull in Scotland.
On May 21, William took part in a solo visit to the Leith Community Centre in Edinburgh, Scotland, where he showed off his football skills while wearing a suit.
The couple, who have been married since 2011, have three children — Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7.

Prince William Toasts His Aunt Sophie as Pair Join Forces in Rare Royal Outing
Prince William and Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, teamed up for a rare outing The Prince of Wales and his aunt spent Friday, June 6, at an agricultural event in southwest England together William, 42, and Sophie, 60, have a special connection to the association putting on the event; while William is a patron, Sophie is the vice presidentPrince William and Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, are teaming up for a rare joint outing. On Friday, June 6, the Prince of Wales, 42, and Duchess of Edinburgh, 60, stepped out together to attend The Royal Cornwall Show in Wadebridge, Cornwall. The agricultural show is organized by The Royal Cornwall Agricultural Association, which both royals back in a formal capacity. Prince William is patron of the association, while his aunt Sophie is the vice president. It was an unusual joint duty for William and Sophie, who are not often paired up for royal outings. Both undertake many solo engagements for their respective patronages and causes, or partner with their spouses for public work. Prince William and Kate Middleton are a tight team personally and professionally, while Sophie and her husband, Prince Edward, are often spotted on engagements together. William and Sophie wrapped the week on an upbeat note at the Royal Cornwall Show, which was established in 1793. The event celebrates the best of Cornish heritage and tradition through agriculture, food, entertainment, and competition to promote and support future improvement in agriculture and the collective community. Their first stop was the Royal Cornwall Food and Farming Pavilion, where they checked out some of the best food and drink produced by artisans across Cornwall and even enjoyed sampling local gin with a toast. Prince William and Sophie then split up to tour separate areas. The Prince of Wales, also known as the Duke of Cornwall, headed to the Duchy of Cornwall hub. The Royal Cornwall Show highlights mental health, and he met with representatives from various local charities and groups. The heir to the throne has made mental health a focus of his royal work and puts his passion into action through programming to help support the mental health of the Duchy of Cornwall's farming tenants. William then visited the Local Nature Partnership – Regenerative/Agricultural, an educational hub organized by the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Local Nature Partnership and Cornwall Council. Cornwall is a meaningful region for William as he inherited control of the Duchy of Cornwall (and the royal title along with it) when King Charles acceded to the throne in 2022. The historic estate worth around $1 billion spans over 130,000 acres in England and Wales and is designed to provide income for the heir to the throne; William visits the region every four to six weeks. While William was at the farm show, Sophie spent time with LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming) and the Girl Guides, two organizations she supports as patron. The Duchess of Edinburgh also checked out a fun feature of the festival by seeing cattle, pigs, and sheep in the surrounding countryside. Prince William and Sophie are thought to share a steady bond and had another day out together at The Royal Foundation's screening of Rhino Man hosted by United for Wildlife in June 2023. At the time, Kensington Palace said Sophie was "delighted to join the Prince of Wales at the event this evening to show her support for United for Wildlife," which he created in 2013. Cameras also caught a sweet moment between the pair last year at Trooping the Colour in June 2024, when Sophie put her hand on William's back as the royal family left the balcony of Buckingham Palace. 'AJLT': Here's Where You've Seen Carrie's Hot Gardener (And Tom Hardy Lookalike) Logan Marshall-Green Before
It's a tough time being a fan of And Just Like That... and its leading lady, Carrie Bradshaw. So far this season we've had that hand lick, a bonnet and in episode two, we had to withstand a plague of rats. But thankfully, Carrie finally came up with the goods hiring landscape architect to the stars, Adam Gardens, played by Logan Marshall-Green. FIND OUT MORE ON ELLE COLLECTIVE After her romance novel writing is interrupted by the aforementioned rats in the beautiful garden of her Gramercy home (we're completely obsessed - the wisteria!), in her determination to look underneath the perfection, Carrie hires a string of professionals to try and sort her garden (clearly the gardening bloom boom hasn't reached New York's great and good). In comes Adam, played by Marshall-Green. And as she magicked him straight off her own page, he enters by saving Carrie's cat, Shoe. It seems viewers were thrilled to see him too, with fans swooning all over social media. In the US, where viewers can see the latest AJLT episode at a more sociable hour than the UK's 2.05 am drop, Marshall-Green was the top trending topic on Google for viewers of the show. And with there being more pictures of Adam online - and that garden a long way from done - it looks like the actor could be a recurring cast member in season three. So where have you seen the actor before? Here's what you need to know. Marshall-Green has starred in a number of TV shows and films across his varied career, but chances are you may remember him from way back, when he starred in The O.C. The actor starred as Trey Atwood, Ryan's big brother in nine episodes, after he replaced another actor. He was a crucial part in the show, when he attacked Marisa in season two, before she shot him at the end of the series. He had a six-episode role in 24, and was in series including Damnation, The Defeated and Big Sky. He's also appeared in big-budget films like Carry-On, Spider-Man: Homecoming and Prometheus. While the likeness isn't maybe as obvious in his beared Adam Gardens guise, throughout his career, people have compared him to Brit actor Tom Hardy, with some claiming it's hard to tell them apart. And while, no, he's not related to Hardy, he does have a twin brother - Taylor Marshall-Green. The likeness between Marshall-Green and Hardy is so commonplace, that he has previously spoken about it. 'I'd be honoured to be in the same sentence as Tom Hardy,' he's told ELLE previously. 'I've been a twin since the day I was born - fraternal, but we look a lot alike - so I've already been mixed up with another man my entire life.' Dakota Johnson & Chris Martin's Breakup ‘Feels Final,' ‘Source' Claims
and Chris Martin are reportedly going through a breakup after eight years of their on-and-off relationship. According to a new report, the pair, who first sparked romance rumors in 2017, have seemingly gone their separate ways for good this time. Although Johnson and Martin kept their relationship out of the spotlight for the most part, they occasionally gave glimpses of their loved-up dynamics. A new report has sparked breakup rumors about Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin, while the couple has yet to address the speculations. PEOPLE reported on Wednesday that the pair has ended their eight-year on-and-off relationship. A source told the outlet, 'It feels final this time.' The split news comes after Johnson and Martin were spotted together during an outing in Malibu last month. Earlier this year, in January, the 35-year-old actor was also seen with the Coldplay star in India. This was during the band's stop for the 'Music of the Spheres World Tour.' Some of the sightings showed Johnson and Martin walking hand in hand during their outings. This was after the alleged former couple were caught up in split rumors in August last year, too. However, a rep for Johnson confirmed to PEOPLE that they were still 'happily together.' Meanwhile, Johnson and Martin had been private about their romance since getting linked in 2017. However, they did not shy away from occasionally giving insights into their relationship. During a 2021 interview with Elle, Johnson got candid about her love life with Martin. The 'Fifty Shades of Grey' star said, 'We've been together for quite a while, and we go out sometimes.' However, Johnson noted, 'But we both work so much that it's nice to be at home and be cosy and private.' The 'Materialists' actor added, 'Most of the partying takes place inside my house.' Despite the low-key love life, Johnson and Martin also had their ups and downs. A source previously told PEOPLE that 'they've had issues and taken breaks in the past.' This was around the time there were split speculations last year. However, the source added that things were 'great.' It's worth highlighting that Martin and Johnson are yet to address the breakup report. The post Dakota Johnson & Chris Martin's Breakup 'Feels Final,' 'Source' Claims appeared first on Reality Tea.
