ED attaches assets of former Rajasthan minister in JJM case
Assets worth over Rs 47 crore of various persons, including Congress leader and former Rajasthan minister Mahesh Joshi, have been attached in the money laundering case linked to alleged irregularities in the Jal Jeevan Mission in Rajasthan, the ED said on Friday.
A provisional order was issued on Wednesday (June 11) under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) to attach the properties belonging to Padamchand Jain, Mahesh Mittal, Sanjay Badaya, Mahesh Joshi, Vishal Saxena and their family members/associate firms, the probe agency said in a statement.
The agency did not specify the value of attachment for these persons separately. It said that the attached assets include agricultural lands, residential flats and houses.
Joshi, 70, was arrested by the ED in this case in April.
Sanjay Badaya, an alleged middleman, Mahesh Mittal, proprietor of Shree Ganpati Tubewell Company and Padamchand Jain, proprietor of Shree Shyam Tubewell Company, were arrested earlier in this case, along with one person named Piyush Jain.
The money laundering case stems from an FIR of the state anti-corruption bureau (ACB) wherein it was alleged that Jain, Mittal and others were allegedly involved in giving 'bribes' to public servants to obtain illegal protection, get tenders and bills sanctioned and for covering up irregularities in respect of work executed by them in various tenders received by them from the PHE department.
Joshi was a minister of the Public Health and Engineering Department in the previous Ashok Gehlot-led government. The JJM scheme was being implemented by this department.

"Any retaliatory action could heighten the risk sentiment further, keeping prices elevated. However, if diplomatic efforts or international intervention led to de-escalation, gold could quickly retreat to the Rs 98,000-Rs 97,000 range," Trivedi said.

ITC completes acquisition of 24 Mantra Organic brand owner Sresta Natural
Multi-conglomerate ITC has completed the acquisition of Sresta Natural Bioproducts , which owns the ' 24 Mantra Organic brand' in an all-cash deal valued at Rs 472.50 crore. This will help ITC to expand its play in the fast-growing organic food products segment . "The company has completed the acquisition of 100 per cent of the share capital of SNBPL on 13th June, 2025," ITC said in a regulatory filing. On the acquisition cost, ITC said it had an upfront consideration of Rs 400 crore on a cash-free debt-free basis and addition, consideration of up to Rs 72.50 crore, which is payable in the next 24 months. In April ITC had informed it had signed a share purchase agreement with Sresta Natural Bioproducts Private Limited (SNBPL) to acquire 100 per cent stake in the company. This acquisition is "in line with the strategy to augment the company's future-ready portfolio, the transaction is expected to fortify ITC's presence and market standing in the high-growth organic products segment in both Indian and overseas market," the Kolkata-headquartered firm said. SNBPL's portfolio comprises a wide range of over 100 organic products, spanning branded grocery staples, spices and condiments, edible oils, and beverages, among others. Besides, it has a strong international presence with a deep connection with the Indian diaspora. The domestic organic food products industry offers a "significant opportunity" for growth on the back of increasing health and environmental consciousness, a rise in household incomes and new-age distribution channels, ITC said, adding that SNBPL is a pioneer and leading player in the organic packaged staples category. SNBPL has two wholly-owned subsidiaries -- Fyve Elements LLC, USA and Sresta Global FZE, UAE. SNBPL, incorporated in March 2004, recorded a revenue of Rs 306.1 crore in FY 2023-24. Over the years, it has built a strong network of approximately 27,500 farmers and 1.4 lakh acres of certified organic land across 71 clusters in 10 states.

X-Ray technician in Pune held for burglary at the software firm owner's house
The Pune city police have arrested an X-Ray technician for allegedly breaking into the house of a software company owner in Koregaon Park and stealing gold ornaments and cash of about Rs 43 lakh last month. The police said it was found that the burglar identified as Rohit Vilas Andhare, 25, a native of Dharashiv district, committed the crime on the intervening night of May 17 and May 18 using the motorcycle belonging to a sharebroker's family that died by 'mass suicide' two years ago. 'Prima-facie, it is suspected that the accused was debt ridden and so he committed the theft,' said Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Pankaj Deshmukh, adding that almost all the valuables stolen from the software company owner's house had been recovered. Andhare has been currently residing in the Kharadi area of Pune city and is learnt to have shifted to the city for employment, senior police inspector Nandakumar Bidwai said. 'Probe so far revealed that the accused has no previous criminal record. He committed the theft at Hadapsar single-handedly, without seeking help from any other person,' said Deputy Commissioner of Police (crime) Nikhil Pingle, during a press conference today. The owner of the plush house at One North Society in Magarpatta had lodged the complaint of theft at his house at the Hadapsar police station. During a parallel investigation, the Crime Branch sleuths got details of a motorcycle used by the unidentified burglar. The team carried out a rigorous technical investigation for about three weeks, including the analysis of 170 videos captured by CCTV cameras around the crime scene and other locations, and trapped Andhare near the Godbole Vasti in Manjari area on June 11. A police officer said that the motorcycle belonged to a sharebroker, who, along with his wife and two children, all residents of Keshav Nagar in the Mundhwa area, had died by suicide in January 2023. An investigation is on to determine how the accused got this motorcycle or whether he had stolen it. The Crime Branch has handed over the accused to the Hadapsar police station for further investigation.
