Contractor pleads not guilty to RM50k false document charges
Fakhruziyahdy Shaari, 53, entered a not-guilty plea in the Sessions Court today over an alternative charge linked to forged documents.
The case involves claims for the upkeep of 16 CCTV cameras at the Community Rehabilitation Centre, Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah Camp.
The alleged offence occurred on November 20, 2017, at Markas Stesen Staf, Kem Lapangan Terbang Sungai Petani.
The charge falls under Section 471 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of two years in prison, a fine, or both.
Judge set bail at RM10,000 with one surety and scheduled the next mention for August 19.
Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) prosecuting officer Mohd Zulfadli Azharuddin led the prosecution, while lawyer Kamal Hisham Jaafar represented the accused. - Bernama

Mazlan is accused of unlawfully involving directly in a transaction involving the money using his bank account at a financial institution on March 15 this year at the Ace Delight Food Court in Kg Nagapas, Papar. The offence under Section 424C(1) of the Penal Code carries a jail term of between three and ten years, or could be a fine of between RM10,000 and RM150,000, or both, on conviction. The court set Sept 2 this year for pre-trial case management and released Mazlan on bail of RM5,000 in two local sureties. Mazlan was also ordered to report to Sabindo police station in Papar every month, to surrender his passport, if any, to the court until the disposal of his case. The court advised Mazlan to engage a counsel to represent him. During the proceedings, the court had asked him about the money and Mazlan said he just wanted to help a 'person'. 'I withdrew the money from my account and later gave it to the person who treated me for breaking of fast,' said Mazlan when the court asked him what the person had given him in return. In asking for his bail sum to be reduced, Mazlan told the court that he was working with his mother to sell vegetables in Kinarut market. Earlier, Deputy Public Prosecutor Bryan Francis offered bail of RM10,000 in two local sureties with several additional conditions to be imposed. Police: 14-year-old student detained after punching, threatening teacher at Kajang school
KUALA LUMPUR, July 30 — A 14-year-old male student has been detained for allegedly punching and threatening his schoolteacher after he was reprimanded for skipping a physical education class yesterday. Kajang Police chief ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof said the 29-year-old secondary school teacher lodged a report at about 7.15 pm yesterday, and the student was detained shortly afterwards in the Kajang area. 'The suspect was unhappy with the reprimand, which led to a scuffle with the teacher. He then punched the teacher in the face and threatened him. The incident, which occurred within the school compound, was witnessed by several teachers and students,' he said in a statement today. Sibu cops probe ‘Small Apple' after two women report receiving explicit content
ACP Zulkipli Suhaili SIBU (July 30): A man known as 'Small Apple' has landed on the police radar after allegedly harassing women online by sending them explicit images and videos. Sibu police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said two women have come forward to lodge reports over the disturbing incidents, which are being treated as cases of sexual harassment and exploitation. 'The first report was lodged on July 25 by a 33-year-old woman, who claimed she met the suspect at a wedding in 2022. 'Throughout a year of acquaintance, he allegedly sent her private lewd images under the pretext of seeking her opinion,' he said in a statement last night. Zulkipli said that the second report came a day later from a 40-year-old woman. 'The second complainant said that their conversation initially revolved around health matters before the suspect suddenly sent her explicit photos and videos,' he said. Police have opened an investigation under Section 509 of the Penal Code for acts intended to insult a person's modesty, which carries a penalty of up to five years in prison, a fine, or both upon conviction.
