Madhya Pradesh seeks Inditex partnership for textile industry development

The Chief Minister proposed a strategic partnership with Inditex across the entire farm-to-fabric value chain. This collaboration is envisioned to not only ensure better prices for farmers but also provide them direct access to international markets. He further highlighted Madhya Pradesh's advancements into the cotton-to-carbon fibre domain, underscoring its growing potential in textile innovation. Yadav extended an invitation to Inditex to explore investment opportunities within the upcoming PM MITRA (Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel) Park in the Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh.
He stated that "This integrated textile park can serve as a model production site for global brands looking for sustainable, cost-efficient, and traceable textile manufacturing." He also noted that Madhya Pradesh currently exports textiles and garments valued at over Rs 7,000 crore annually, with Europe being a significant destination. He expressed confidence that a partnership with Inditex could elevate this figure beyond Rs10,000 crore, adding, 'Such collaborations will not only benefit our farmers but also create significant employment in rural areas and drive women's empowerment.'

The Home Office will share information about the location of asylum hotels in a bid to tackle illegal working, which the Government says encourages small boat crossings Food giants Deliveroo, Just Eat and Uber Eats have signed up to new measures to stop asylum seekers working illegally. The delivery companies have committed to crack down further on account sharing. A new agreement with the Home Office will see locations of asylum hotels shared with them - allowing them to see "patterns of misuse". The Government says this will tackle gangs who use the promise of jobs to sell places on small boats. By law those seeking asylum in the UK are not allowed to work while their application is being processed. But there is growing evidence that some are earning cash working for delivery firms. The companies are required to suspend accounts that are shared with asylum seekers who are not allowed to do paid jobs. They have already agreed to bring in facial verification checks and fraud detection tools. Home Secretary Yvette Cooper said: 'Illegal working undermines honest business, exploits vulnerable individuals and fuels organised immigration crime. 'By enhancing our data sharing with delivery companies, we are taking decisive action to close loopholes and increase enforcement. The changes come alongside a 50% increase in raids and arrests for illegal working under the Plan for Change, greater security measures and tough new legislation.' Since Labour came to power there have been more than 10,000 illegal working visits, leading to 7,130 arrests. This is an increase of 50% compared to the year before. In one operation in South London, three asylum seekers arrested for working in a car wash and deported within a month. The Indian nationals, who had overstayed their visas, were removed in late May and early June. Border Security Minister Dame Angela Eagle told The Mirror: 'This operation is a clear example of our commitment to not only disrupt people who ignore the rules and try to work in the UK illegally, but to remove those who do as quickly as possible." New laws will make it a legal requirement for all companies - including the gig economy - to check that anyone working for them has the legal right to do so. This will be introduced as part of the Border Security, Asylum and Immigration Bill.

PARIS, July 22 (Reuters) - French warplane maker Dassault Aviation ( opens new tab raised questions over the future of a Franco-German-Spanish fighter jet project on Tuesday in a growing feud with Europe's Airbus ( opens new tab over control of the futuristic program that combines traditional warplanes with automated drones. CEO Eric Trappier said the Future Combat Air System, widely known under its French initials SCAF, needed clearer leadership and organisation as partners move towards a second phase that calls for a flying model to prove its cutting-edge technology. SCAF is one of several so-called sixth-generation fighter projects expected to combine traditional crewed warplanes with a cohort of uncrewed and armed drones. Britain is working on a similar proposal with Italy and Japan known as GCAP. Dassault, which builds France's Rafale warplanes, is in charge of efforts to come up with designs for the core fighter, one of several "pillars" in the hugely complex SCAF project. Trappier said that in practice, decisions over key parts of the current design phase were having to be cleared with Airbus, adding complexity and contributing to delays. "They say Dassault is the leader but that all decisions must be taken between three (countries)," Trappier said at a half-yearly earnings conference. Airbus, which represents both Germany and Spain in the project with Dassault backed by France, declined comment. Asked if Dassault was threatening to leave the SCAF project, Trappier indicated the programme's wider future was at stake. "It is not a question of leaving SCAF but of deciding if it continues or not," he said. However, he strongly denied reports that Dassault was seeking 80% control. Dassault and Airbus, two historic European industry rivals called on to work together after French President Emmanuel Macron and then German Chancellor Angela Merkel launched the initiative in 2017, have squabbled repeatedly over handling of the project to replace current warplanes by 2040. The latest comments came on the eve of a Berlin summit between Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz that are expected to touch on the status of the defence project, according to a French presidential adviser and industry sources. Airbus Defence & Space CEO Michael Schoellhorn told the Paris Air Forum last month that governance had been agreed and that Airbus, a leading partner in the Eurofighter Typhoon, had a history of successful cooperation with other defence firms.

Charity fundraiser to be held in memory of Ayrshire businessman Kevin Finnie
Kevin, who made his name in the hospitality industry and owned a number of venues across Ayrshire, died aged 55 last July. The daughter of a popular Ayrshire businessman is holding a charity night in a bid to raise funds in memory of her father. Kevin Finnie, who owned and operated a number of Ayrshire hospitality venues, died on July 25, 2024 and his daughter Zara is holding a charity fundraiser a year to the day after his death. She aims to raise money for Beautiful Inside & Out - the charity which helped her through some of the most difficult times in her life. 'A Bevvy for Kevvy' will take place this Friday and a Just Giving page has been set up for anyone who wishes to donate. Zara said: "This Friday marks one year since I lost my amazing dad, Kevin Finnie. To honour his memory and the incredible person he was, I'm putting on a charity night to raise funds for a cause that means so much to me. "The charity we're supporting is Beautiful Inside & Out – SCIO. In one of the darkest times of my life, they reached out with compassion, understanding, and genuine support. "Their work helps people struggling with grief, mental health, and emotional pain, and I'll always be grateful for the kindness they showed me. "This charity night is not only about remembering my dad – it's about giving back, spreading love, and making sure others don't have to go through difficult times alone. "Any donation, big or small, means the world. Thank you for helping me celebrate my dad's life in a way that helps others heal."
