Kerry business selected for programme providing supports for start-ups developing new AI solutions

Ailtir, founded by Donagh Ó Buchalla and Adrian Smith, is a company which provides an AI platform that reduces much of the time and costs associated with the construction tenderising process.
The Tralee-based startup has been selected to participate in the second six-month AI Ecosystem Accelerator Programme, which is being delivered by NovaUCD, an entrepreneurial hub, and CeADAR, Ireland's centre for AI, at UCD.
The focus of the programme, which has just commenced, is to support a cohort of entrepreneurs who are developing disruptive AI solutions in a variety of sectors for a global market.
Ailtir co-founder and CEO, Donagh Ó Buachalla, said he is delighted his company has been accepted into the AI programme.
'It's a fantastic opportunity to connect with world-class mentors and ambitious founders, and to accelerate Ailtir's mission to transform how construction teams approach tendering,' Mr Ó Buachalla said.
'We're looking forward to sharpening our product, deepening our impact, and scaling our solution both in Ireland and internationally.'
Participants of the AI Ecosystem Accelerator Programme will receive guidance from CeADAR's AI experts and experienced commercial mentors, along with workshops on value proposition, scaling and investor readiness.
They will also have access to collaborative co-working space at NovaUCD with the opportunity to connect with successful AI entrepreneurs, start-ups, corporates, investors and access to skilled interns.
The programme is funded through the European Digital Innovation Hubs framework, an initiative with funding of €700 million from both the European Commission and the governments of member states.
Enterprise Ireland is leading on the programme in UCD.
The 2025 AI Ecosystem Accelerator Programme will end with a showcase event in October.

Us Chain Walmart Opens First Case Ready Beef Facility in Kansas

The move comes as the company aims to supply customers with sustainable beef. The US-based supermarket chain Walmart has opened its first in-store case-ready beef facility in Kansas. The facility aims to provide customers with an end to end supply chain for Angus beef. The move will see over 600 new jobs being created, directly impacting the community of Olathe, the fourth most-populous city in Kansas. It comes after Walmart's investment in the Nebraska-based Sustainable Beef company in 2022. The investment was part of Walmart's strategy to supply consumers with local Angus beef, promoting transparency, efficiency and resilience. Walmart have stated that Sustainable Beef LLC sources their cattle from within a 250-mile radius Walmart's food division executive vice president, John Laney said: 'The opening of our new facility in Olathe, Kansas, is centered on delivering more of what our customers want — affordable food and quality they can trust. "This is the first case-ready facility fully owned and operated by Walmart, and that milestone ensures we're able to bring more consistency, more transparency and more value to our customers.' Kansas Governor Laura Kelly said: 'Kansas has long been at the forefront of the agriculture industry, and Walmart's investment in Olathe is further driving our success. 'Through food production and supply chain innovations, we are proud to partner with Walmart to transform how we feed communities across our state and the region.' Walmart have said that the new facility will fulfill demand for quality beef in the region and is delivering a positive and long-lasting impact. The facility has the capacity to process fresh beef into case-ready cuts, which will be packaged and prepared for retail before being shipped directly to Walmart distribution centres to serve stores in the US midwest. The company noted that the facility is also expected to increase business for suppliers and service providers, further boosting the facility's impact on the community. Olathe Mayor John Bacon said: 'Walmart's decision to open its new case-ready facility in Olathe isn't just a business investment — it's a vote of confidence in our community and our workforce. 'With over 600 new jobs being created, this facility will fuel local economic growth and reinforce Olathe's position as a regional agricultural leader. "We're proud to work with Walmart and build more economic opportunity for our residents.' Walmart highlighted that this facility supports the company's commitment to US manufacturing, with plans to invest $350 billion in US-made products by 2031.

Husband handed just £325k of wife's £60MILLION family fortune in bitter divorce battle WINS bid to get more cash

A MAN who was awarded just £325,000 of his wife's £60 million fortune has now won a bitter divorce battle. The divorcee 2 Jenny Helliwell, 42, was said to have behaved "fraudulently" Credit: Champion News Service 2 Simon Entwistle, 42, was awarded just £325,000 after a 'painful' divorce battle Credit: Champion News Service Simon Entwistle, 42, a financial trader, was awarded just £325,000 at the High Court after a His claim of needing £36,000 a year for flights, and £26,000 for "a meal plan just for himself", was called "aspirational" by the judge. The judge added: "He said to me, 'I can't even cook an omelette,' well my answer to that is 'learn', it is not difficult." "You do not have to be a master chef to learn how to eat reasonably well." Read more News Now, a judge has found Jenny guilty of "fraudulent" behaviour by failing to declare £48m of her £66m personal fortune. The pair, who were together from 2016 until 2022, enjoyed an "opulent standard of living throughout their relationship." Simon reportedly "enjoyed the trappings of being married into a family of exceptional wealth". This included living in a £4.5m villa in Dubai, and a Parisian wedding ceremony that cost £500,000 in August 2019. Most read in The Sun The villa had been a gift from Jenny's father - Dubai-based British businessman Neil Helliwell. Simon's own assets were worth around £800,000, including a flat in Teen Mom star Ryan Edwards begs judge not to force him to expose top-secret MTV contract and NDA in nasty divorce When the couple split in August 2022, Jenny hired lawyers to order Simon to leave their home with just 48 hours' notice. It sparked a legal battle that would see Simon asking for £2.5m of his wife's fortune, estimated to be worth £60m. Jenny had offered him £500,000, and then £800,000 to avoid a However, the original judge awarded just a £400,000 payout following a pre-nuptial agreement that stated the pair would keep their own assets. This came to £325,000 after he was made to pay his wife's legal fees. During an appeal, Simon claimed he was a victim of "gender prejudice", and that the agreement had been invalidated by Jenny failing to disclose around £48m in assets when he signed the document. His lawyer said: "Had the positions been reversed, it is very unlikely that he would have... so ungenerously assessed the needs of a wife after a six-year relationship." A judge has ruled that this amounted to "fraudulent" behaviour, invalidating the agreement. While Jenny did disclose around £18m in assets, she failed to disclose an additional £47m. It included around £8m of beachfront land in Dubai, and a £1.6m property in Wimbledon. This meant that Simon did not sign the agreement with full knowledge of his partner's wealth. She did not make any findings on the gender prejudice argument. The case will now be returned to the High Court, to be judged as if the agreement didn't exist. Lady Justice King said: "Since the husband in the instant case was deliberately deprived of information which it had been agreed that he should have, in my judgment, the agreement cannot stand."
