Dhalwad's 4-Lane Flyover and Mehad's 2-lane tunnel now operational
National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) Project Director Shubham Yadav stated that the construction of the flyover and canopy tunnel is a remarkable achievement by the NHAI, as these two spots had been a significant source of trouble on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH44) for passengers and commuters.
'The construction of both these projects is a big achievement for NHAI, as the two places were a big trouble on NH 44 for the passengers and commuters. Due to landslides and debris during rainfall, the traffic on NH 44 would be disrupted. A lot of people have also died on this highway due to the debris... Now, because of the timely construction of these two structures on these two most landslide-vulnerable spots on the NH44, the movement of the vehicles of Amarnath Yatra, tourists and fruit-laden heavy trucks besides routine local traffic has become hassle-free and smooth,' Yadav told ANI.
Yadav gave credit for the achievement to the unflinching support of the Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways(MORT&H) Nitin Gadkari, Secretary (MORT&H) V Umashankar, NHAI Chairman Santosh Yadav, Regional Officer RS Yadav and former Project Director Purshottam Kumar.
Earlier in Ramban on July 3, 17 medical camps were set up at langar sites along with mini hospitals. Ambulances were also deployed for the Amarnath Yatra.
Ramban Chief Medical Officer Kamal Zadoo told ANI, 'On behalf of the health department, we have set up 17 camps at langar sites and lodgement centres across Ramban district from Nashri tunnel to Navyug tunnel. Mini hospitals have been established at Yatri Niwas Chanderkot and Lambhar Ground, featuring a four-bed indoor facility, a laboratory, and an ECG unit. We have also placed cardiac monitors there this year. Two ambulances have been deployed at Yatri Niwas Chanderkot, the Langar Site in Chanderkot, and Lambhar Ground. We have also kept back-up ambulances for any untoward incidents...'

Japanese Encephalitis claims 13 lives at GMCH this year, 50 confirmed cases since April 1
Guwahati (Assam) [India], July 5 (ANI): Japanese Encephalitis (JE), a mosquito-borne viral infection, has claimed 13 lives at Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Assam so far this year. The hospital has reported 50 confirmed cases of JE since April 1, raising significant concerns among health authorities. Dr Ujjal Kumar Sharma, Deputy Superintendent of GMCH, told ANI, 'In Guwahati Medical College & Hospital, from April 1 to July 4, 50 patients of Japanese Encephalitis have been admitted.' He added, 'Out of the 50 patients, 13 patients have expired here. Three patients left against medical advice. Six other patients have recovered and were discharged. Many patients have come from Kamrup (Rural), Nalbari, and Darrang districts.' According to the authority of Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), 14 JE cases from Kamrup district have been admitted to GMCH, with 10 cases from Nalbari, seven cases from Darrang, and three cases from Kamrup (Metro) district. According to the data of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare of the Government of India, over 840 people died in Assam due to infection of Japanese Encephalitis during the period from 2015 to 2024. 135 people died of Japanese Encephalitis in Assam in 2015, while 92 people died in 2016, 87 in 2017, 94 in 2018, 161 in 2019, 51 in 2020, 40 in 2021, 96 in 2022, 34 in 2023 and 53 in 2024. In November 2024, Delhi also reported an isolated case of Japanese Encephalitis (JE) in a 72-year-old man from Uttam Nagar, West Delhi. However, officials confirmed that there is no outbreak in the city, emphasising that most JE cases reported in Delhi originate from neighbouring states. Public health measures, as per national guidelines, were implemented, and officials urged residents not to panic. The patient, a diabetic with a history of coronary artery disease and chronic conditions, tested positive for JE through IgM ELISA on November 6, 2024, during his hospital stay. He was discharged on November 15 after receiving care. The JE virus, primarily carried by waterfowl and amplified in pigs, is transmitted to humans through the bite of infected Culex mosquitoes. Although the virus can cause febrile and neurological illnesses, it does not spread through human-to-human contact. (ANI)

36 Amarnath pilgrims injured after 5 buses collide in J&K's Ramban; rejoin yatra after treatment
At least 36 Amarnath pilgrims, hailing from different states, suffered minor injuries when five buses slammed into each other in Jammu and Kashmir's Ramban district on Saturday, officials said. The buses were part of a convoy headed for the Pahalgam base camp of the pilgrimage in south Kashmir from Jammu's Bhagwati Nagar. All the injured persons rejoined the yatra after receiving treatment at the Ramban district hospital. The accident took place near Chanderkote, along the Jammu-Srinagar national highway, at around 8 am due to the failure of the brakes of one of the buses in the convoy, the officials said. "There was a minor accident at Chanderkote when a Pahalgam-bound vehicle collided with other stationary vehicles due to brake failure," Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said in a statement. He said 36 pilgrims received minor injuries in the incident. They were discharged after preliminary treatment and resumed the journey towards the 3,880-metre cave shrine in the south Kashmir Himalayas, the statement said. "By the blessings of Lord Shiva, all the devotees are safe," the LG said. Live Events "Our priority is the safety of all pilgrims. He said the government officials already present at the site rushed the injured to the district hospital. Several senior police officers visited the hospital to monitor the treatment of the injured and directed the chief medical officer to ensure the best care. "The yatris were later shifted to other vehicles for their onward journey," the deputy commissioner said. Union minister Jitendra Singh said he spoke to the Ramban deputy commissioner after learning about the road accident. ".... There is no reason for concern. All arrangements for the pilgrims are in place and are being constantly supervised by the administration," Singh said in a post on X. The fourth batch of 6,979 pilgrims -- 5,196 men, 1,427 women, 24 children, 331 sadhus and sadhvis, and one transgender -- left the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in two separate convoys between 3:30 am and 4:05 am. While 4,226 pilgrims left in 161 vehicles for the Nunwan base camp for the 48-kilometre traditional Pahalgam route, 2,753 pilgrims were headed for the shorter but steeper 14-kilometre Baltal route in 151 vehicles. Meanwhile, a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) spokesperson said the injured pilgrims hailed from Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. Along with the Ramban district administration, the mobile medical team of the 84 Battalion of the CRPF rushed to the spot, provided immediate medical attention and helped in the evacuation of the injured pilgrims, he said.

The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) was directed to provide the best possible care to the Minister Dr Jitendra Singh spoke to Ramban Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Alyas Khan, regarding the Amarnath pilgrims accident."All arrangements for the pilgrims are in place and are being constantly supervised by the administration," he said on receiving medical attention, the affected yatris were shifted to other vehicles to continue their onward journey, Deputy Commissioner's X post annual Amarnath Yatra began on July 3 with the first batches of pilgrims setting off from the twin base camps in Baltal and Nunwan towards the 3880-metre-high cave shrine in the south Kashmir Himalayas, which houses a naturally formed ice-lingam.- Ends
