Bhubaneswar: Seven new Covid cases were reported in the state in the last 24 hours, taking the total to 45, of which 33 are active cases. Most of these cases are from Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
Official sources said Covid patients are undergoing treatment in hopital isolation wards. "We have not received any report regarding severe Covid illnesses. The public should follow Covid-appropriate behaviour like using masks, proper hand hygiene, and avoiding crowded places. The situation is under control, and people should not panic," said Nilakantha Mishra, director of public health.
Odisha govt has taken necessary steps to monitor and contain the spread of infection after receiving an advisory from the Centre.
According to the advisory, individuals with acute respiratory illness should monitor their condition and seek medical care if symptoms worsen.
The Centre has instructed the state to ensure availability of oxygen, isolation beds, ventilators and essential medicines. Capital Hospital conducted a mock drill and opened an isolation ward on Sunday to treat Covid patients. Other hospitals in the state have also made preparations to treat Covid patients.

State and district surveillance units under the integrated disease surveillance programme (IDSP) are closely monitoring influenza-like illness (ILI) and severe acute respiratory illness (SARI). The Centre has advised states to conduct tests for all admitted SARI cases and 5% of ILI cases as per guidelines. "Positive SARI samples are sent for whole genome sequencing through the ICMR VRDL network," read the advisory.

1 2 Silchar: As floodwaters begin to recede across the Barak Valley, Cachar emerged as a model of proactive healthcare response, with authorities conducting 487 medical camps in affected areas between June 1 and June 6 in the first phase. Over 7,200 patients have received free treatment as part of this relief effort. Led by DC (Cachar) Mridul Yadav and backed by local MLA and minister Kaushik Rai, the district administration, in coordination with the health department, mobilised static medical teams to relief camps across Silchar and Katigorah. Such camps will continue till the situation normalises. Each team comprises doctors, nurses, and paramedics offering round-the-clock medical services to the affected population. 6 more deaths tied to Covid take India toll since January to 65
NEW DELHI: Six more Covid-related deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, the Union health ministry said on Sunday. The country's total Covid count has crossed the 6,000-mark, with 769 fresh cases being reported in the last 48 hours, revealed data released by the ministry. Kerala continues to be the most affected state, followed by Gujarat, West Bengal and Delhi. In all, there are 6,133 active Covid cases in the country. With the latest casualties, the Covid death toll since Jan has gone up to 65. Maharashtra has recorded the maximum fatalities (18), followed by Kerala (15) and Delhi (7). Due to the rising number of cases, Centre is conducting mock drills to check facility-level preparedness and has instructed all states to ensure availability of oxygen, isolation beds, ventilators, and essential medicines, official sources said. However, most cases are mild and are being managed under home care, they stressed. A series of technical review meetings were held on June 2 and 3, under the chairpersonship of director general of health services (DGHS) Dr Sunita Sharma, with representatives of Disaster Management Cell, Emergency Management Response Cell, National Centre for Disease Control, Indian Council of Medical Research, Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme, and central govt hospitals in Delhi and with representatives of states and UTs to evaluate the situation and preparedness measures.
