Nelly Korda, amateur star Rianne Malixi among those competing in JM Eagle LA Championship
World No. 1 Nelly Korda headlines the list of early commitments for the 2025 JM Eagle LA Championship, which takes place this year at El Caballero Country Club in Los Angeles as the tournament's usual host, Wilshire Country Club, undergoes renovations.
Korda is one of seven top-10 players in the world who have signed up for the April 17-20 event. She's joined by two-time defending champion Hannah Green (No. 5) as well as Jeeno Thitikul (2), Fountain Valley, California's Lilia Vu (6), Ayaka Furue (7), Jin Young Ko (8) and Haeran Ryu (9).
In addition, Rianne Malixi, who won the U.S. Girls' Junior at El Caballero Country Club last summer, will compete on a sponsor exemption. Malixi also won the U.S. Women's Amateur in 2025. The incoming Duke freshman will compete next week at the Augusta National Women's Amateur.
In January, JM Eagle donated $1.5 million to support wildfire relief efforts in Los Angeles and has pledged to donate an additional $5 million. The tournament will provide complimentary grounds tickets to those impacted by the Eaton and Palisades Fires.

Best of Jayson Tatum with the Boston Celtics in 2024-25
We may not get to see star Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum on a basketball court for his team again until the start of the NBA's 2026-27 regular season. The St. Louis native tore his Achilles tendon playing the New York Knicks in the 2025 NBA Eastern Conference Semifinals second round series that would Boston's last in the 2025 NBA Playoffs. Fans of Tatum and the Celtics will likely grow restless waiting for his return to the team, but the folks behind the official Celtics YouTube channel put together a clip of the best of the Duke alum's plays from the 2024-25 season to keep us all occupied while we wait for Tatum to get back to being himself. We might have a shot at seeing him back late in 2025-26, but in the likely case he elects to wait until the following season to return to the court, check out the clip embedded below for your Taco Jay fix in the meantime. Three amateurs vie for Smyth Salver honors at AIG Women's British Open at Porthcawl
The list of recent Smyth Salver winners is packed with stars. The award, given to the low amateur at the AIG Women's British Open, has served as a strong indicator of future success, with names like Lydia Ko, Danielle Kang, Georgia Hall, Leona Maguire, Jeeno Thitikul and most recently, Lottie Woad, receiving the honor. Three amateurs made the cut this week at Royal Porthcawl, and two of them were paired together on Saturday, with Paula Martin Sampedro and Jeneath Wong playing alongside each other while Carla Bernat, known as Carla Bernat Escuder prior to this week, was just a few groups back. Spain's Martin Sampedro carded five birdies in a 2-under 70 on Saturday to take a three-shot lead in the amateur race, moving to even par for the championship. A 73 from Bernat, the Augusta National Women's Amateur champion, moved her to 3 over for the week while Wong's 77 put her at 7 over for the tournament. It's been a massive summer for Stanford's Martin Sampedro, who won both the British Women's Amateur and European Ladies' Amateur Championship in Germany. She currently ranks third in the World Amateur Golf Ranking. "I try to stay consistent, especially when a mistake comes," she said after the third round, "just not trying to do too much and accept that and just walk out with a bogey, and that could be good. Just not trying to make like big numbers on this course." Bernat noted that every part of her game has improved since she won the ANWA in April, though the scores might not show it now. She's also learned how to prepare for a major, something she knows many amateurs don't have the opportunity to do. This is Bernat's fourth major championship start of the year, courtesy of that Augusta victory. "I mean, it sounds crazy, but for me, (this is) the beginning, I haven't started yet," said Bernat. "It's cool to win on amateur tournaments, but what I want, it's in the future."

Nelly Korda, Charley Hull enjoyed filming Happy Gilmore 2 but Hull 'couldn't be an actress'
Charley Hull was born about a month after the original "Happy Gilmore" movie came out in 1996. Nelly Korda, who turned 27 on Monday, is two years younger than Hull. Both joined a host of golf stars – including fellow No. 1 Scottie Scheffler – in the comedy hit's sequel, which brings back Adam Sandler in the lead role. "Happy Gilmore 2" was released on Netflix July 25 and, according to Variety, 46.7 million viewers streamed the movie in just three days — making it the biggest U.S. opening weekend in Netflix history. Korda said she planned to watch the movie sometime this week while she's competing at the AIG Women's British Open in Wales. "It was so cool getting to meet Adam Sandler, getting to be part of that process, and actually seeing how difficult acting is from that point of view," said Korda. "That scene with Shooter was amazing to see just from my point of view, his acting, and how much it takes. "That scene took all day. It was like a 20-second scene. The appreciation for their lifestyle and their job definitely grew for me. For me, it was just so cool to be a part of, and getting to do it with Nancy (Lopez) is a lot of fun too." England's Charley Hull said the filming process was also long but "good fun." "Never thought I'd be in a movie, but there you go," she said. "Definitely safe to say I couldn't be an actress. Just filming that scene all day, I haven't got the patience." Other golf stars in the film include Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas, Keegan Bradley, Rickie Fowler, Tony Finau, Collin Morikawa, Xander Schauffele, Jordan Spieth and Will Zalatoris from the PGA Tour, as well as Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka from LIV Golf. PGA Tour legends Jack Nicklaus, Lee Trevino and John Daly also joined in the fun.
