Ruel Finds Exactly What He's Been Looking for on New Single ‘I Can Die Now'
'I've been waiting for what seems like forever to get I Can Die Now out,' Ruel shared in a statement. 'I love the juxtaposition between the title and the theme and energy of the song — once you listen to it, you'll know what I mean. On top of that, ICDN is the first taste of what my new album might be like.'

'I Can Die Now' bounces along a propulsive bass line and finds in rhythm through thudding percussion. 'In a room full of these strangers/You're the one, you're the one/The way you got me feeling from the waist up to the waist down/Girl, I found you, yeah, I found you, I can die now/Yeah, I would hate to 'cause you're mine now/But since I found you, yeah, I found you, I can die now,' he sings. 'I know that it's fucked up, I don't want to/Nothing more for me to do than be around you/I want you to lock me inside/Want you to spend all your nights in my arms.'
Ruel crafted the record alongside collaborators Julian Bunetta (Sabrina Carpenter, One Direction), Ammo (Beyoncé, Britney Spears), JKash (Charlie Puth, Dua Lipa), Mark Schick (Nessa Barrett, Benson Boone), and Ed Drewett (Niall Horan). It marks first release of the year, follow last year's one-off singles 'Cats on the Ceiling' and 'Make It Awkward.' His most recent studio album, 4th Wall, arrived in 2023.
'First single I've put out in almost a year and first part of this new eraaaa,' Ruel wrote on Instagram. 'All this has been a looong time coming so over the moon to get this out in the world.'

Aussie's 'magical' $3,000 discovery in deep hole after digging for months
For more than 20 years, Cherië and Michael have spent countless hours searching for 'elusive' treasures on a rural piece of land they also call home. Through rain and sweltering heat, the Aussie couple have 'dug deep' in the hope of unearthing their 'next brilliant find' in Queensland's Sapphire Gemfields. And it appears their persistence is paying off, with Michael recently discovering a roughly $3,000 'beauty' glimmering deep inside in a 2.5 metre hole he had been chipping away at for months. Video footage capturing the 'magical' moment shows the fossicker hone in on 'something that just popped out'. After removing rock chucks and dirt using his hands and a pick axe, Michael exclaims 'holy dooley' as he pulls the 183-carat sapphire from the ground. Speaking to Yahoo News, Cherië explained that the couple have multiple off-grid mining claims about six kilometres from Rubyvale, a precious gemstone area that attracts both commercial interest and amateurs. 'We live on the mining claims, and we have done for a bit over 20 years with our five children,' she said, adding they leased the area where the gem was found about two years ago. 'About two months ago we started that hole, and we have found little pieces but that one he ended up catching on camera. You just never know… you see a glint and you think 'oh is it one?'' 183-carat gemstone revealed to be a parti sapphire While the large gem is 'nice stone', Cherië admitted it's 'not perfect' and does have some issues. In its current state its worth about $3,000. 'It looks like a bit of a parti sapphire,' the mum said, meaning it has a natural blend of multiple colours. 'I think it has a little bit of yellow, blue, maybe green.' For now, the stone will be tucked away, but the couple hope to be able to retrieve a couple of five to 10-carat pieces which will then be sold at Cherië's shop Sapphire Gem Cuts. 'You might hit a patch where you get stones, and then you might go for six months or nine months without getting much at all,' Cherië, who grew up camping in the gemfields with her family, told Yahoo. Last year Michael unearthed a very clear 123-carat parti sapphire worth up to $12,300 while fossicking, she added, but they have also found 300 to 500-carat 'bombs', meaning they are 'not good quality whatsoever'. 'We're still waiting for the big one. We're still hoping to find that retirement stone,' she said. And they're not the only ones. While travelling families and their young children were once a rare sight in the gemfields, the demographic has changed since Covid, Cherië explained. 'It's great to see the families come out. 'It's more than a pub, it's a community' - first pub in Best Pub contest
THE first hopeful in The Press Best Pub contest is hoping readers will raise a glass to it. The Crooked Tap is one of 10 finalists in The Press 'Best Pub 2025' awards. Press readers have nominated their favourite pubs in York and North Yorkshire via an online voting platform. RECOMMENDED READING: They will now be able to vote for their 'Best Pub 2024' by picking up copies of The Press newspaper between today and August 2, with the winner set to be announced shortly after. Each copy of The Press in the coming days will feature a short profile on each pub and why it thinks it deserves to be voted number one. Owned by Crooked Brewery and run by manager Jimmy Hebbron, the Crooked Tap opened its doors for the first time around six and a half years and has been a community favourite in Acomb ever since. The pub has nine keg lines and two casks offering both their own creations and craft beer offerings from across the world, ranging in strength from 0.5 per cent to 13 per cent, in addition to local spirits and an excellent wine menu (including a 'great Romanian pinot grigio'). The Crooked Tap is also dog friendly and welcomes other furry friends – with some customers even known to bring their cats along for the evening. However, Colbert had to stop the song prematurely and was handed an official letter. 'It says here this is purely a financial decision,' he said. 'What does that mean,' replied Miranda. 'Since you started playing that song, the network has lost, and I don't know how this is possible, $40M-$50M,' joked Colbert. Miranda pointed out that the tune was a number one song, noting that it makes no sense to cancel something that is number one. Given that the last 'celebrity' in the crowd was a cartoon Donald Trump, seemingly drawn in the style of the Colbert-produced Tooning Out The News, Miranda said, 'Tell me this has nothing to do with who we just put a spotlight on.' The letter? It was signed 'Yours truly, the Paramount family of global entertainment properties and A.I. weapons systems'. Many in this group are close; Stewart was previously Colbert's boss at The Daily Show and is an exec producer of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, while others bonded heavily during the writers strike in 2023 with their own Strike Force 5 podcast, which was hosted by Colbert, Fallon, Kimmel, Meyers and Oliver. Kimmel had a good excuse for not showing up; ignoring the fact that he's based in LA, whereas the others are all based in New York, he's been on holiday for some time with a phalanx of guest hosts leading his Jimmy Kimmel Live! show. The group appeared after Colbert had delivered his own rebuke to President Donald Trump, who was over the moon at the news last week.
