DA NCOP member welcomes reports NPA to charge Nigerian rapper for crashing luxury car in CT
The musician, known as 3GAR Baby, is expected to appear in a Cape Town court soon for crashing his luxury supercar at high speed.

The NPA said the musician would be summoned to appear in court soon to face charges of reckless or negligent driving.
It's believed that the Nigerian rapper, whose real name is Prince Daniel Obioma, was driving at over 200km/h when he lost control of his vehicle and slammed into a pavement on High Level Road on 1 March.
Photos of him with blood gushing down his face circulated on social media shortly after the crash.
Gotsell said the wheels of justice were finally turning after months of pressure on the South African Police Service (SAPS) to investigate the matter.
"Over the past months, Cape Town and surrounds have been plagued by serious incidents involving luxury vehicles. Nobody, not even a so-called celebrity, is above the law."
It's understood that a passenger was also injured in the accident.

Tshwane metro says awaiting investigation into 44 dismissed SAMWU workers
JOHANNESBURG - The Tshwane metro says it will only be able to give clarity on the fate of 44 dismissed employees once investigations into allegations against them have been completed. This comes after the South African Municipal Workers' Union (SAMWU) marched to the city's headquarters on Wednesday, calling for the city to honour an agreement of 3.5% salary increases. This in addition to the immediate reinstatement of the dismissed employees. According to the union, the group was unfairly let go in 2021 by the then Democratic Alliance-led administration under former mayor Cilliers Brink. The dismissals in question were effected after a salary increase dispute when the city failed to honor an agreement reached with the union at the time. The agreement was that workers would receive a 3.5% increase in 2021 and a 5.4% boost in 2023.

Man accused of killing woman after Facebook date abandons bail application
A 36-year-old man accused of killing a woman after meeting her on Facebook has abandoned his bail application after appearing at the Pretoria Magistrate's Court. Helder Isidro from Eersterust is accused of killing 30-year-old Loveness Magabe and has been charged with murder and defeating the ends justice. Lumka Mahanjana, the regional spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), revealed that the pair initially connected in a section of Facebook dedicated to sex work. Their interaction progressed to Whatsapp culminating in a meeting set for July 26, 2025, at a lodge in Eersterust "On the said date, it's alleged that the accused ordered an uber for the deceased to pick her up from her place of residence in Sunnyside and drop her off at their meeting place," said Mahanjana.

Police close probe into missing R465k Sedibeng mayoral chain
Gauteng police have confirmed that their investigation into the missing Sedibeng mayoral chain, valued at R465,000, has been closed. The ceremonial chain went missing after the state of the district address on June 23 2023. The mayor, Lerato Maloka, had allegedly put it on the shelf in her office after she finished the address and it was never seen again. A case of theft was opened in November that year, but the chain is yet to be found. Police spokesperson Col Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi confirmed that no arrests had been made. 'Investigations were conducted and the docket brought before the deputy public prosecutor, who declined to prosecute, hence the matter was closed on July 25,' she said. Asked why the matter was taken to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) though there was no suspect, Nevhuhulwi said: 'Some of the cases are first investigated then brought to Senior Public Prosecutor of the Director of Public Prosecutions, whether someone is arrested or not. And this is one of those cases.' The disappearance of a ceremonial asset valued at nearly half a million rand, coupled with the lack of transparency and accountability, undermines public trust in the municipality's leadership. When asked for a comment, Maloka said: 'I am unable to comment about a process which was never in my control to give you acceptable outcomes. 'The municipality has a comprehensive security system in place in and around the office, which to date no-one knows or no report is available on how it was breached, so that improvements sought are informed accordingly.' DA MPL Kingsol Chabalala described the closure of the case as disturbing. 'This is a serious matter that leaves suspicions, as the case has be suddenly closed without any arrests or recovery of the mayoral chain,' he said. Chabalala has since written to Gauteng premier Panyaza Lesufi, calling for urgent intervention in what he describes as an 'unresolved matter'. In the letter, he raised concerns about transparency, accountability and the handling of public assets within the Sedibeng district municipality. 'The disappearance of a ceremonial asset valued at nearly half a million rand, coupled with the lack of transparency and accountability, undermines public trust in the municipality's leadership. 'Your intervention is critical to restoring confidence and ensuring that those responsible for any negligence or misconduct are held accountable. I trust that your office will treat this matter with the urgency and seriousness it demands. Please keep me informed of any actions taken or progress made in addressing this issue,' reads part of the letter.
