's much-anticipated period action drama 'Hari Hara Veera Mallu' has not only been in the news for its grand visuals or lengthy production schedules, but also came into the spotlight after netizens raised questions about historical accuracy.
Responding to this, the producer of the film, AM Ratnam, gave clarification.
Recently, a discussion started online after some netizens pointed out some factual inconsistencies in the film's timeline. Some X users questioned the timeline of the movie, mentioning that Veera Mallu reportedly died in the 1300s, while the Charminar was built in the 1500s, and Aurangzeb's invasion of Golconda occurred in the 1600s. The post added, "Where is the accuracy? I want accuracy"
In a recent interview with ABN Telugu, AM Ratnam addressed the issue that 'Hari Hara Veera Mallu' is not a biopic or a direct historical retelling, but rather a fictional story set during the Mughal era.
He explained that the titular character, Veera Mallu, is a warrior created for the film's story, placed in a time when diamond mining was flourishing in India. Within this fictional framework, Veera Mallu is tasked with stealing the famed Kohinoor diamond, bringing him into conflict with historical figures like Aurangzeb.
The filmmaker shared that the film does not aim to misrepresent facts but instead presents a fictional story inspired by the socio-political backdrop of the Mughal period.

So, the first film that we sent was 'Mother India', and the last film in 2024 was 'Laapataa Ladies'," he told reporters here. The final entry from India will be decided by a vote after all the screenings are done and will be announced on September 28. Live Events "Mostly, films should've Indianness in it, and it should be a film which is idea-driven and not content-driven. Earlier, star-driven films were made, we would see who features in the film, and then decide whether we want to watch it or not," Hasan said. "The FFI will provide all the help to the producers to have a smooth, democratic and transparent nomination process. We welcome more and more films to participate in the run to get nominated as India's entry into Oscars this year," Hasan said. The FFI, which is the parent body of the all the leading film associations of India, will nominate the chairman of the jury along with senior qualified people from various creative fields - from acting to directing, producing to costume, music, playback singer, sound recordist, and editing, to form a 25-member jury, according to the protocol of the Oscar Academy. "It should be Indian origin film and about 90 per cent film should be shot in India, and the film should've Indianness. We've tried to cover every field while appointing the (jury) person. The person should be well-known, should have good experience, and must be a National award-winner," Hasan said. The content of the films must be 60 per cent in local dialect in any of the Indian languages. They should also have the proof of release with a minimum of one week run in theatres in India. In addition to this, details of film festival entries or awards received for the film and payment of Rs.1,25,000 plus GST will be charged during the submission procedure. Speaking of the support from the government for the Oscar campaign, Hasan said they've often sought financial assistance. "We often appeal to the government for support. We had a meeting with NFDC a few months ago, and they will be sending two-three films to Oscars this year, they're working on it," he said. Last year, Kiran Rao's "Laapataa Ladies" was chosen to represent India at the 97th Academy Awards but failed to make it to the shortlist. The 98th Academy Awards ceremony will be held on March 15, 2026 at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood.

Bigg Boss Malayalam 7: Here's why the show was temporarily suspended

Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 7 took an unexpected and dramatic twist after the makers temporarily suspended the show, citing serious rule violations by the contestants. This move came as a shock to fans, marking a rare instance of the show being paused mid-season due to disciplinary reasons. In the latest episode, Bigg Boss summoned all contestants to the living area and announced that the show would be suspended until further notice. The reason? Contestants were found blatantly disregarding the house rules by using or sharing personal belongings, despite repeated warnings from host Mohanlal and Bigg Boss. Bigg Boss stated that the show would not continue with any tasks or communications unless the contestants responsible came forward, confessed their mistakes, and promised not to repeat them. Following the announcement, housemates Adhila and Noora stepped up and admitted to sharing their makeup products with others, stating they did so out of friendship. Both issued apologies and pledged to follow the rules going forward. However, the situation escalated when Binny accused Gizele of continuing to hide a concealer, claiming she had seen her using it earlier that day. Gizele denied the accusation, insisting she no longer possessed any such item. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Become Fluent in Any Language Talkpal AI Sign Up Undo The tension added fuel to an already heated environment, especially since Gizele had previously received a stern warning from host Mohanlal during the weekend episode for concealing cosmetics. Captain Shanavas took responsibility for the house's lack of discipline and apologized on behalf of all the contestants. He assured Bigg Boss that such violations would not happen again under his leadership. After the confessions and apologies, Bigg Boss declared this as the final warning and officially resumed the tasks inside the house.
