The high-profile sexual assault trial involving five members of Canada's 2018 World Junior Hockey team continued this week with a police interview from New Jersey Devils forward Michael McLeod taking center stage in court.
McLeod, one of the accused, described the night in question at a London, Ontario hotel in June 2018 as 'weird,' sharing details of events that unfolded after a night of drinking at a downtown bar.

In the 2018 interview with London police detective Stephen Newton, played in court on Tuesday, McLeod recalled returning to his hotel room with a 20-year-old woman he met at Jack's Bar on Richmond Row. He said the two had consensual sex, and later teammates began arriving at his room for food and socializing.
The situation quickly became more complicated. According to McLeod, the woman began offering sex to others in the room and became frustrated when they declined.
'I was trying to make sure she was okay because this is, like, a weird situation that I wasn't expecting was going to happen with all the guys coming in,' McLeod told police. 'I just made sure she was okay with this.'
McLeod said he filmed a video of the woman affirming her consent to the activity taking place.

While McLeod said he tried to manage the escalating situation, including discouraging group sex in front of others, he also admitted that oral sex and further sexual encounters occurred between the woman and other players.
'She got upset... I had to, kind of, calm her down and say 'are you okay?' Literally, I told her no one is going to have sex in front of nine other guys,' McLeod stated.
After the gathering ended around 4 a.m., McLeod said the woman was upset over a lost ring. He later messaged her on Instagram, learning from her that her mother had called the police. When asked if he had regrets, McLeod said: 'I'd probably just shut it down right away... probably go.' The trial remains ongoing as further testimonies are expected.

New Delhi [India], May 30 (ANI): The Cyber Police Station in Delhi's Shahdara arrested a 37-year-old man, Himanshu Arora, for allegedly blackmailing, threatening, and sexually exploiting a woman over three years using fake Instagram accounts and email IDs. The victim, a resident of New Govindpura in Delhi, lodged a complaint detailing how the accused manipulated her into sharing private photos and videos and later used them to harass and extort her. The case dated May 28, 2025 (FIR No. 41/25) was registered under Sections 75, 77, 78, 79, 308(2) BNS and Sections 66E, 67, 67A of the IT Act. A dedicated team was formed for investigation under Inspector Shiv Prakash, with the guidance of Inspector Vijay Kumar, SHO Cyber Shahdara, and ACP Gurudev Singh. According to the complaint, the victim met Himanshu Arora on Instagram in 2021. Over time, he emotionally manipulated her into sharing sensitive content. Later, she began receiving threats, vulgar messages, and extortion attempts from multiple fake social media accounts. The woman revealed that the harassment included fake profiles made using her private pictures, coercion during Instagram and Google Meet video calls. The blackmailer threatened with kidnapping, acid attack, and harm to her family and demanded extortion of Rs 1 lakh. After the fake legal messages linked her to criminal cases and FIRs, She said, 'He told me his laptop had been damaged and claimed a technician might have stolen the data. But the harassment never stopped.' The cyber cell also traced nine fake Instagram accounts and one Gmail ID used in the blackmail. Technical analysis and data from Meta and Google helped the team trace the phone number 7011684572, linked to the fake accounts. Though the number was registered in Himanshu Arora's mother's name, it was found to be used by Himanshu himself. The accused was apprehended on May 29, 2025, and during interrogation, he confessed to the creation of fake profiles, the sharing of explicit content, and sexually exploiting the victim. Himanshu Arora, a graduate from Delhi University, worked in his family business in Shahdara. Police seized two mobile phones, which contained three nude and semi-nude photos of the victim, one screenshot of a fake Instagram ID with a password, and a laptop used in the crime. In a public appeal, the Delhi Police urged social media users, particularly young women and minors, to be cautious while sharing personal content online. 'The Cyber Crime Unit remains committed to ensuring a safe digital environment and bringing such perpetrators to justice,' said Prashant Gautam, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Shahdara District. 1 2 Bhagalpur: A 35-year-old man, Sameer Kumar Ranjan of Maheshi village in Bhagalpur district, was arrested on Thursday night for allegedly sending a threat message against PM Narendra Modi via a social media platform, using another man's mobile data in a calculated attempt to implicate him over a property dispute. The threat call was made to the Prime Minister's Office. The alert was triggered on Thursday, coinciding with the PM's two-day visit to Bihar, during which he participated in a roadshow in Patna and a public meeting in Bikramganj. Intelligence agencies including the NIA, IB and Bhagalpur police were placed on high alert. Bhagalpur SSP Hriday Kant formed a special investigation team (SIT) led by DSP (law and order) Chandra Bhushan and including officials from the DIU, CIAT and Sultanganj police. The team began a discreet probe to trace the origin of the message. SSP Hriday Kant said a detailed technical analysis led the SIT to a mobile number registered to a septuagenarian, Mantu Chowdhary of Maheshi village. "He said he is illiterate and uses only a basic keypad phone. He claimed Sameer had trapped him," said the SSP. The student was one of approximately 16 students in a second-level acting class taught by Archer, which she said was intended to test the limits of students' fear.
