The incident took place in the Sambalpur City–Sambalpur section shortly after the train departed from Sambalpur City at 09:18 hrs, moving at a very slow speed.
ECoR officials confirmed that there was no loss of life or damage to property. Except for the affected coach, the rest of the train resumed its journey to Sambalpur with all passengers safe.
Senior railway officials, including the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), reached the site to supervise early restoration work and initiate an inquiry into the cause of the derailment.

CUJ opens PG admission for vacant seats from July 25
Ranchi, July 25 (UNI) The Central University of Jharkhand (CUJ) has opened admissions for vacant postgraduate seats for the 2025-26 session. The registration window is active from July 25 to 31. Train derails near Sambalpur City station
Bhubaneswar: The Shalimar-Sambalpur Mahima Gosain Express (20831) derailed around 9:22 am on Thursday on Sambalpur City-Sambalpur Junction section shortly after the train left Sambalpur City station. Nobody was injured and cause of derailment is yet to be ascertained, East Coast Railway (ECoR) sources said. The rear trolley of a general coach next to the train's guard van went off track due to the derailment. The Sambalpur-bound train was running at a very slow speed at the time of the incident, official sources said. "No loss of life or property was reported. The train, except for the affected coach, left for Sambalpur with all passengers," said the ECoR statement. Railway officials, including the divisional railway manager (DRM), Sambalpur, reached the spot to oversee the early restoration of traffic and inquire about the incident. On March 30, one person died and over 30 injured after 11 coaches of the Bengaluru-Kamakhya AC Express derailed at Manguli-Choudwar passenger halt in Cuttack.

PJTAU to confer degrees on 519 students at 55th convocation on Aug 2
Hyderabad, July 24 (UNI) The 55th Convocation of Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU) will be held on August 2 at the university auditorium in Rajendranagar, according to Registrar Dr Vidyasagar on Thursday. A total of 519 students, including undergraduates, postgraduates, and Ph.D. scholars, will receive their degrees during the ceremony. Of these, 322 are women and 197 are men. The Registrar informed that Dr M L Jat, Director General of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), will attend the event as the chief guest and deliver the convocation address. The convocation will be held under the chairmanship of Telangana Governor and University Chancellor Jishnu Dev Varma. As part of the honours, nine postgraduate and Ph.D. students who have demonstrated outstanding academic performance will be awarded gold medals. In addition, two postgraduate and Ph.D. students will each receive a cash prize of Rs 25,000. Twenty undergraduate students will also be awarded gold medals during the ceremony.
