US stock market futures traded in a narrow range on Tuesday, with investors cautiously watching the second day of US-China trade talks unfold. After a positive start to discussions, traders are waiting to see if any concrete progress will be made, particularly around rare earth minerals access, which has become a key sticking point.Futures tied to the Dow Jones Industrial Average (YM=F), S&P 500 (ES=F), and Nasdaq 100 (NQ=F) were mostly flat in early morning trading. This hesitant tone reflected the market's uncertainty about whether this round of trade negotiations will lead to any breakthroughs — or just more delays.: Boeing +3.07 %, Dow Inc +2.87 %, Intel +1.94 %, Amazon +1.51 %, Disney +1.49 %: Travelers –2.19 %, Nike –1.45 %, Apple –1.37 %, Visa –1.04 %, 3M –0.93 %: Regeneron +5.02 %, AMD +4.72 %, Tesla +4.36 %, Qualcomm +4.12 %, Texas Instruments +3.49 %: Intuitive Surgical –5.58 %, T‑Mobile –3.28 %, ADP –2.60 %, Netflix –1.46 %, Apple –1.37 %The latest round of US-China trade negotiations resumed in London on Tuesday morning. Following an encouraging first day, both sides are now grappling with more difficult issues — including the US push for better access to China's rare earth mineral supply chain. These minerals are critical for technology, electric vehicles, and defense manufacturing. While White House officials sounded optimistic on Monday, President Trump later warned that "China's not easy" to deal with. That mixed messaging has left investors on edge. The last few years have shown how quickly tariffs and tensions between the US and China can send global markets swinging.Ahead of Tuesday's trade discussions, Chinese stocks saw a sharp decline, reflecting nervous sentiment among local investors. According to Bloomberg, Fu Shifeng, investment director at Cheng Zhou Investment, commented that 'the market is too sensitive… people seem to be speculating that the talks didn't go well.'This sudden drop suggests that optimism about a deal is thin, and the lack of transparency around the talks is adding to the volatility. With no clear signals yet, traders are bracing for anything.Amid all the trade uncertainty, a small glimmer of positivity came from the NFIB (National Federation of Independent Business). Their May survey showed a rise in small-business optimism, the first increase since September. The report cited the current trade truce with China as one reason behind the boost in confidence. However, that optimism is also being tested. Concerns are growing over President Trump's massive tax-and-spending proposals, which many business owners feel could raise the national debt and increase inflation. The next big moment for investors is the release of the May Consumer Price Index (CPI) data, expected on Wednesday. This inflation report is crucial, especially as the Fed continues weighing future interest rate decisions.Analysts predict that price pressures picked up in May, possibly fueled by trade uncertainty and higher import costs. A hotter-than-expected CPI reading could spook markets further, especially tech stocks which are more sensitive to interest rate shifts.Markets are walking a tightrope. US-China trade talks have the potential to ease global tensions and lift investor sentiment — but only if they show meaningful progress. At the same time, inflation data, US fiscal policy concerns, and overseas market volatility are keeping things tense. For now, investors are taking a wait-and-see approach. Futures are flat, volatility is rising in Asia, and every headline from London could move the needle. The next 24–48 hours could be critical in setting the tone for the markets this week.Ongoing US-China talks and inflation worries are keeping stock futures flat and investors cautious. The CPI report could reveal rising inflation, which may affect Fed rate decisions and stock market direction.

AI infrastructure in Action: Think Digital Act Hybrid
Do you know that Indian factories now pour around ₹5.7 trillion every year—about US $69 billion—just into keeping their machines running? World-Bank data put India's 2023 manufacturing output at US $461 billion, and maintenance-economics studies show that routine upkeep typically consumes about 15 percent of production cost even in well-run plants. The drain deepens whenever equipment fails without warning. A nationwide reliability survey found that 88 percent of industrial sites suffer at least one unplanned outage every month, and every lost hour costs the average plant roughly ₹7 million in scrap, overtime and idle labour. Pharmaceutical facilities feel the pain most sharply: recent research tracking disruption across life-science manufacturers shows downtime incidents lasting eight hours or more and losses that can top £5 million—about ₹52 crore—per hour once sterility has been breached. The good news is that the numbers flip when factories move from calendar-based greasing to data-driven care. A cross-industry study of predictive-maintenance programmes reports about a 25 percent cut in maintenance spend and a 10–20 percent boost in equipment availability after plants fitted vibration, temperature or energy sensors and began using machine-learning models to flag anomalies early . Multiply those averages across India's manufacturing ledger and more than a trillion rupees a year could stay on the shop-floor instead of vanishing into unplanned downtime. For decision makers in manufacturing industry, the route to those gains is straightforward. Begin by mapping which utilities / equipment / asset have the greatest impact on production integrity and uptime, then put continuous, always-on guardrails around that short list first. Feed the resulting data into a secure, vendor-neutral platform so operations, quality and IT share one source of truth; let anomaly alerts open work orders automatically; wrap the flow in zero-trust policies. Field evidence shows every rupee invested in this disciplined approach returns three to five rupees in avoided downtime while simultaneously hardening the plant's cyber posture. Several Indian manufacturers have already moved from pilot to production with exactly this playbook—most notably Dr. Reddy's Laboratories , which chose Kyndryl as its partner to make the vision real. This is the logic behind the partnership announced in April 2025 between Kyndryl and Dr. Reddy's Laboratories. Under the agreement, Kyndryl is deploying its open integration platform, Kyndryl Bridge, to monitor every data-centre workload and every production asset across the pharma major's global network. The goal is a Zero-Touch operations model that uses AI to predict failures, trigger auto-remediation and cut manual interventions by about 60 percent, all from a single analytics dashboard that also simplifies compliance reporting. Where traditional industrial-automation companies focus on selling the drives, controllers and sensors themselves, Kyndryl lives in the connective tissue: it ingests raw analogue loops alongside modern digital tags, normalises them into secure MQTT or OPC UA streams, applies zero-trust policies so a IoT device can talk to the cloud without inviting ransomware, and keeps the entire hybrid stack patched and audited 24 × 7. In short, plants that wait for machines to fail pay twice—once for emergency repairs and again for lost production. Plants that 'sense analogue, think digital and act hybrid,' with services like Kyndryl's stitching old and new together, turn maintenance from a cost centre into a fountain of uptime, yield and margin. In a market where a single afternoon of sterile downtime can erase a quarter's profit, adopting Industry 4.0/5.0 maintenance is no longer an experiment; it is a balance-sheet imperative. MediaTek to grow India investments, expand share in flagship smartphone chipset market: Executive
NEW DELHI: Taiwanese fabless chipmaker MediaTek said it will grow its investments in India, and work with smartphone original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to expand its market share in the booming premium segment this year. 'We want to improve our flagship market worldwide, including India. People in India are becoming rich, so they can buy a better phone. We see this (premium segment) as very important. So, we will enlarge our investment in India and work with our key OEM partners to bring their products together with our flagship chipsets,' Thomas CH, senior director (product marketing), MediaTek, told ETTelecom in an interview. 'That is our top priority this year. We will see the premium market growing in India,' he added. The company, however, did not divulge further details. Citing a study from Counterpoint Research, the executive said MediaTek has been leading India's smartphone chipset market for 20 quarters. In the most recent January-March 2025 quarter, MediaTek led with a 45% share, followed by its US-headquartered rival Qualcomm with a 32% share. Meanwhile, Indian consumers' demand for high-end products, including electronics and smartphones, is unabated. In the January-March quarter of this year, the ultra-premium smartphone segment, categorised at ₹45,000 and above, grew by 15% year-on-year (by volume) while the average selling price (ASP) has seen an increase of 11% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) post-COVID, Counterpoint said. The top executive said that the global smartphone market has stabilised (by volumes), and is growing at 1-3% every year, but the revenue is expected to increase due to the sales of expensive devices. So MediaTek will keep investing in flagship chipsets, mainstream chipsets, and the whole portfolio. This is because OEMs are looking for wide range of SoC support. We look forward to the smartphone market getting bigger because, from the product point of view, everyone will have a better smartphone in the future said. The Rick Tsai-led chipset vendor is further working with homegrown handset makers, such as Lava, for 5G smartphones priced as low as ₹8,000, and budget-friendly 4G models. 'We are also helping to accelerate the adoption of 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) in India. Last year, HFCL unveiled its 5G FWA Indoor CPE powered by the MediaTek T750, which delivers 5G speeds right out of the box. We power key household connectivity devices from Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio,' Anku Jain, managing director (MD) of MediaTek India , told ETTelecom during the interview. MediaTek is also bullish on India's growing automobile industry, particularly the electric vehicle (EV) segment, where it provides solutions for Kinetic Green Flex and Kinetic Green E-Luna X1. Last year, Jio Things and MediaTek collaborated on a 4G Smart Android Digital Cluster and Smart Module for two-wheeler EVs. MediaTek also works with Indian automakers designing four-wheel vehicles, with some vehicles using MediaTek's infotainment solutions, including Tata Punch EV and Skoda Slavia. The Hsinchu-headquartered company is focusing on enhancing its chipsets' photography, gaming, and efficiency. Thomas said MediaTek has 'invested a lot' in accelerated processing unit (APU), and its in-house neural processing unit (NPU), to help large language models (LLMs) run locally on-device.
