Brent Primus knows what it's like to become an unexpected champion, so winning a PFL title would be old hat.
And it's not even that a lightweight belt in the PFL, like he did in Bellator when he stopped Michael Chandler, would be out of the question now for Primus (16-4), who beat Vinicius Cenci (8-3) with a third-round submission this past Friday. He moved on to a semifinal matchup against Alfie Davis in late June.
Still, he's been overlooked before only to prove doubters wrong, and he'd gladly do it again.
Primus spoke to the media following his win at 2025 PFL World Tournament 3, which took place at Universal Studios in Orlando, Fla.

Mix also had plenty to say, already angling a championship fight and saying he was "looking through" Bautista. There was a lot of noise, but Bautista kept grounded. "He was saying he was looking through me, but the whole time I was thinking, 'Well, I'm going to run through you,'" Bautista said at the uFC 316 post-fight press conference. "So I don't know. I can't pay attention to that stuff. At the end of the day, we get in the cage and the words mean nothing. I trained hard for this fight, and that was pretty much it. I won." Bautista shut down Mix over the course of 15 minutes and ended up taking home a unanimous decision win, while extending his winning streak to eight in a row. The MMA Lab product thinks it's time he gets a step-up given his body of work and wants a five-round fight against a title contender. "I definitely want a top-five (opponent)," Bautista said. "I think if Patchy would've won this fight, they would've shot him all the way to the top, so I think I took his spot and all that hype. I definitely deserve a top-five. I'm on an eight fight win streak, and there is no one else above me with a streak like that except for the champion."

The MMA community at large has seemingly grown tired of the lengthy wait for Jones and Aspinall to have their long-awaited title unification clash, so much so that a online petition to strip Jones of his UFC heavyweight title has been created and signed by nearly 200,000 people, just to finally move on from the teased bout. But speaking Saturday following UFC 316 in Newark, New Jersey, UFC CEO Dana White indicated that he remains hopeful for the current heavyweight situation to work itself out. 'I've been saying [the Aspinall fight will happen] since the beginning, and Jon Jones agreed to do the fight [against Aspinall]," White said. "Jon Jones was offered the deal and accepted the deal. The UFC boss remains unreceptive to even entertaining the concept of Jones vs. Ngannou, stating that it's England's finest or no one at all for Jones. "It's Aspinall's fight. We've been talking to this kid forever about it," White said. "You can't make people fight. If Jon doesn't want to fight, we can't make him fight. We can try to make him fight. We can throw things at him that inspire him to want to fight. But we'll figure it out.'
