May 10—JAMESTOWN — An 18-year-old Bismarck man was arrested Saturday, May 10, after he led law enforcement on a pursuit that started on Interstate 94 and ended in a two-vehicle crash in Jamestown, according to Maj. Justin Blinsky with the Jamestown Police Department.
Jamie Raye Barnes is in the Stutsman County Correctional Center on suspicion of felony reckless endangerment, driving with a suspended license and possession of stolen property, Blinsky said. Barnes was also issued an infraction for possession of marijuana and faces additional charges from other law enforcement agencies involved in the incident, Blinsky said.
Sgt. Nathaniel King with the North Dakota Highway Patrol said a state trooper responded to a report of reckless driving at about 8 a.m. Saturday on I-94. He said the trooper attempted to make a traffic stop on a 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo about a mile west of Eldridge on I-94 and the vehicle fled eastbound toward Jamestown.
King said the vehicle exited into Jamestown and the trooper discontinued the pursuit and provided the description of the vehicle to the Jamestown Police Department.
Blinsky said the Monte Carlo exited I-94 at exit 257 and entered Jamestown. He said the vehicle drove through residential areas in southwest Jamestown.
Jamestown police officers and Stutsman County Sheriff's Office deputies were directed to the vehicle's locations by observations being radioed to them by the state trooper.
The vehicle was located by a Stutsman County Sheriff's Office deputy and a Jamestown police officer as it approached the intersection of 17th Street Southwest and U.S. Highway 281. Blinsky said the vehicle blatantly drove through a red light and almost struck another motorist at the intersection.
Jamestown police officers and Stutsman County deputies engaged in pursuing the vehicle on Business Loop West to alert other motorists of the reckless, speeding vehicle, Blinsky said. He said the vehicle turned onto 1st Avenue South and went northbound where a state trooper attempted to deploy tire deflating devices. He said the driver of the fleeing vehicle avoided the tire deflation devices by turning off 1st Avenue South.
Blinsky said the vehicle continued to flee throughout parts of southeast Jamestown. As the vehicle was driving eastbound on 10th Street Southeast toward the intersection with 7th Avenue Southeast, the driver blatantly disregarded a red light and struck a 2021 GMC Sierra pickup, driven by a 30-year-old Jamestown man, traveling southbound through the intersection, Blinsky said. Both vehicles came to rest in the 1000 block of 7th Avenue Southeast.
King said airbags were deployed in the crash.
Blinsky said Barnes tried to flee on foot but was quickly taken into custody.
Blinsky said the Monte Carlo contained two juvenile male passengers and a juvenile female passenger, all from Bismarck.
He said Barnes and one male juvenile were transported by Jamestown Area Ambulance to Jamestown Regional Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries.
The 30-year-old Jamestown man received minor injuries and later received medical treatment via personal conveyance, Blinsky said.
During the investigation, Blinsky said it was determined that Barnes fled from law enforcement in Bismarck Friday night. Blinsky said the Monte Carlo was taken from the owner without consent.
He said impairment from drugs is believed to be a contributing factor.
The Bismarck Police Department also assisted with the investigation.
The incident remains under investigation.

Ex-NFL cornerback Kelvin Joseph arrested after fatal motorcycle crash that killed 27-year-old woman

Former NFL cornerback Kelvin Joseph was arrested after he was allegedly involved in a crash that killed a female motorcyclist in Texas, police said. Richardson police announced on social media that Joseph reported his involvement in the crash that occurred in the early hours of Saturday. "Richardson Police Department Officers contacted Joseph and determined he was northbound on North Central Expressway in a BMW sedan when he was involved in a collision with the motorcycle," police said. "While speaking with Joseph, officers observed signs of intoxication. Joseph was subsequently arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated (Misdemeanor B) and Collision Involving Personal Injury or Death (2nd Degree Felony)." Police add that Cody Morris, a 27-year-old from Plano, died in the crash. Joseph, 25, has been playing in the United Football League with the DC Defenders this spring. The UFL acknowledged Joseph's arrest in a statement to Dallas-area TV station WFAA, but declined any further comment. Joseph was a second-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys in 2021 after playing for both LSU and Kentucky in college. He played 10 games his rookie year in Dallas (two starts) with 16 combined tackles and two passes defended over that time. However, a serious off-the-field issue occurred during the 2022 offseason. Joseph was a passenger inside a vehicle where two others with him fired shots into a group of men in Dallas, fatally striking a man in the head. Police found that Joseph wasn't the shooter, and the NFL didn't suspend him. Joseph went on to play 16 games for Dallas in 2022, totaling 20 tackles with two passes defended and one forced fumble. But he started to bounce around from there. He spent time with two teams in 2023, first with the Miami Dolphins for four games and then the Seattle Seahawks for one game. Joseph went on to play just two games as an Indianapolis Colts cornerback, which were his last in the NFL to date. 'Lunatic' Democrat ripped for 'demonic' video message demanding ICE agents 'get the f--- out' amid CA chaos

A California Democratic lawmaker was widely criticized by conservatives on social media after posting a message online telling federal agents arresting illegal immigrants in Los Angeles to "get the f--- out." "ICE get the f--- out of LA so that order can be restored," Rep. Norma Torres posted on TikTok Friday as protests and riots were breaking out over the raids. Conservatives on social media quickly reacted to the video, accusing Torres, who was born in Guatemala and became a U.S. citizen in the 1990s, of fomenting the violence and vitriol against ICE officers that unfolded over the next few days. "This is a sitting member of Congress," conservative influencer account Libs of TikTok posted on X. 'Torres is a sitting member of Congress and a complete lunatic," conservative influencer Paul Szypula posted on X. "Demonic possession," White House director of communications Steven Cheung posted on X. Conservative influencer Benny Johnson called Torres "deranged" in a post on X and several users, including Arizona state Sen. Wendy Rogers, called for Torres to be expelled from Congress. "Arrest her now," the conservative influencer account Catturd posted on X. "Found a Communist in Congress," author James Lindsay posted on X. "Make it an ad," conservative commentator Stephen L. Miller posted on X. Fox News Digital reached out to Torres' office for comment. President Trump sent 2,000 National Guard soldiers to Los Angeles to help "keep peace" as immigration protests descended into riots, and to prevent a repeat of the 2020 unrest that saw the Democratic governor of Minnesota "let his city burn," Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem said on Sunday. During the riots, ICE officers were targeted with violence that included throwing rocks and other projectiles along with vandalism in the form of graffiti calling for violence against ICE officers. U.S. Border Patrol Chief Michael Banks shared a photo of one Border Patrol agent's bloody hand, which was injured by a rock flying through the windshield. Federal sources said agents could have been killed by the flying debris. Several arrests have already been made for assault on a federal agent, Banks confirmed.
