Casablanca's First-Ever Store Is a Colorful Parisian Boutique
Parisian luxury labelCasablancahas opened its inaugural physical boutique with the opening of its colorful store on 62 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré. NeighboringComme des GarçonsandHermès, the 2018-born label inaugurates its public-facing presence in the historic fashion capital, representing a new generation of Gen Z-focused luxury labels. Cast in a palette of blue, red, and green, he 5,000 sq ft store spans three levels and centers on a deconstructed tennis court inspired by architectCarlos Scarpa, according toWWD. The sleek space features Carrara marble mosaic floors, a futuristic illuminated ceiling, velvet finishes, and high-gloss lacquered wood applications. The lower floor is blanketed by a plush green carpet that extends to the walls, where transparent product displays reside, evocative of the clean modernism recently popularized by Apple TV'sSeverance. Elsewhere, arched niches and wall moldings are placed throughout the perimeter, rooting the space back in heritage with a mixture of traditional Parisian design elements. Following the opening of its inaugural Paris boutique, Casablanca will ready its Beverly Hills store, slated to open in that the brand aims to open more stores in cities including New York, Miami, London, Milan, and Dubai. Bread & Butter Gourmet Deli in Tarpon Springs closing after 30 years
The Brief The Bread & Butter Gourmet Deli in Tarpon Springs is planning to close its doors after 30 years. It is known for its turkey, falafel and array of soups, salads, and pastries. The owners plan to sell the building to a seafood restaurateur. TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. - A beloved Tarpon Springs deli is closing its doors after more than 30 years. The Bread & Butter Gourmet Deli on Pinellas Ave is known for its turkey, falafel and array of soups, salads, and pastries. It has created a unique fusion of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine. The backstory The story of the deli started in Youngstown, Ohio, where owners Theo and Nellie Abbas met. Nellie said, "His best friend happened to be my brother's future brother-in-law. He brought me to a dance, a Greek dance. He met me there and that was it." From there, the couple moved to the Big Apple to learn the ropes of cuisine. "We had a deli in New York in Lincoln Center," Theo added, "One day I got up in the morning to go to work and it snowed. I had to clean four cars before mine. I said, 'forget about it. I'm leaving." Fast-forward to the summer of 1994, the couple purchased an old bank in Tarpon Springs, which would become Bread & Butter. "'94 I opened it. And the night before I opened it, Governor Lawton Charles came in here with 200 people. The next day, my line went all the way outside," he added, "I didn't think it was going to have an impact like that, so we didn't have enough food. We ran out of food." These days, there's a similar turnout after the couple announced they are closing the deli by the end of June. Nellie said, "We've gotten flowers. We've gotten cards and last week we got bombarded, we've had so many customers." READ: Odyssey Cruises in Tarpon Springs offers family friendly educational experiences The couple said they came to a realization. She said, "I don't want to start crying, but I got to go. We got to go." With Theo now disabled, they said it's time to slow down. He said it stems from an accident more than 20 years ago, "I fell off the roof and I struck my head, and I had a brain stem injury. I was in a coma at Bayfront hospital for 13 days. They gave me a 1-percent chance to live." Nellie added, "We have four great-grandchildren now. 7 grandchildren, so it's time to relax." What's next The couple plans to sell the building to a seafood restaurateur. Theo said, "It breaks my heart that I have to leave. But all good things must come to an end." Bread & Butter Gourmet Deli is located at 1880 Pinellas Ave, Tarpon Springs, FL 34689. BJ's Restaurants appoints CEO
This story was originally published on Restaurant Dive. To receive daily news and insights, subscribe to our free daily Restaurant Dive newsletter. BJ's Restaurants has promoted Lyle D. Tick to CEO and president, effective Thursday, the company said in a press release. In addition, the company's CFO, Thomas A. Houdek, will resign from his post on June 20. Tick, current president and chief concept officer, will succeed interim CEO C. Bradford Richmond, who will become special advisor to the CEO during Tick's transition. Richmond will remain a member of the board of directors. Tick joined BJ's Restaurants in September 2024, after serving as president and CEO at On the Border Mexican Grill & Cantina. He has played a key role in creating BJ's strategic vision, that is focused on the employee experience, menu and improved hospitality. BJ's Restaurants, which posted 1.7% same-store sales growth in Q1, has been without a permanent CEO since Gregory S. Levin stepped down from the role in late August. Levin was with the company for 19 years and became CEO in 2021. William Blair analyst Sharon Zackfia said Tick's promotion was 'unsurprising' and 'largely expected.' Tick has experience turning a brand around and driving sales. For roughly five years as brand president at Buffalo Wild Wings, Tick led a revitalization effort that included 'a return to its sport bar legacy, an updated design, and a revamped menu alongside the launch of the smaller delivery/takeout concept Buffalo Wild Wings GO,' Zackfia said. In the months since joining BJ's, Tick already has made a big impression. 'As President and Chief Concept Officer, Lyle has quickly re-focused the Company's core sales and profit-driving initiatives to further differentiate our concept while capturing opportunities to reduce operational complexity,' Lea Anne S. Ottinger, BJ's board chair, said in a statement. 'We are confident that under his leadership, BJ's will continue to drive sustainable growth and create long-term shareholder value.' The company's ongoing strategy to drive sales includes menu innovation, like its Pizookie Meal Deal, Tick said in the company's Q1 2025 earnings release. That item improved the chain's value proposition, he said during an earnings call. A Pizookie Platter, which combined four regular sized Pizookie's into one treat, gained significant play on social media, generating 57 million organic social impressions. The chain sold more than 24,000 platters, Tick said. Menu innovation contributed to a 2.7% traffic bump during the quarter. The chain also has been working on improving team member experience, such as updating its point-of-sales and kitchen display systems that can help employees input menu items, boost accuracy and speed of service. This has helped reduce comping of food and beverages by 13% year over year, Tick said. Recommended Reading BJ's Restaurants CEO, president Gregory Levin steps down
