The tragedy unfolded last Monday morning when her car was involved in a single-vehicle collision on Knockmore Road.
A child travelling with her suffered minor injuries.
Shelly, a highly respected classroom assistant at Bushvalley Primary School, was airlifted by Air Ambulance NI to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.
She spent five days in intensive care, bravely fighting for her life.
Tragically, she passed away on Saturday, leaving her family and community heartbroken.
Her death came just days after her father's sudden passing, only 24 hours after her crash.
Bushvalley Primary School shared their devastation at losing a "highly esteemed and valued" staff member.
They said: "Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire family circle at this very difficult time."
Heartfelt tributes have flooded social media as parents, colleagues, and friends spoke of Shelly's kindness and impact.
One colleague said: "It was an absolute pleasure working with Shelley. She had a heart of gold."
Another added: "Her passing will be felt deeply by the children and colleagues at Bushvalley.
"What a tremendous loss."
Rachel Longwell shared: "Thinking of Shelley's family, friends, and everyone at Bushvalley during this difficult time," while another tribute read: "There will be a lot of very sad little ones given the impact she made on them."
In the wake of the tragedy, a GoFundMe page set up by Rev Andre Alves-Areias has raised more than £22,000 to support Shelly's partner Stephen and their young children, Sophie and Jake.
Rev Alves-Areias, who is the minister at Mosside Presbyterian Church where Shelly's funeral will be held, described her as a "dear friend."
He said: "The community is really feeling the weight of what has happened, but they are rallying round in an amazing way."
He also spoke of the overwhelming turnout at a prayer service held for Shelly, saying "almost every seat was taken" as the community came together to offer support.
The GoFundMe page explained how the family faced unexpected financial pressures with Stephen needing to stay constantly at Shelly's bedside.
It said: "The last thing Stephen should have to worry about right now is the financial strain of being there for Shelly."
TUV leader Jim Allister said the tragedy would be "keenly felt" across the wider area.
"When the passing is so sudden and the result of a tragic accident it is felt all the more keenly," he said.
Vice Chairman Councillor Allister Kyle added: "The esteem in which the family is held is demonstrated by the overwhelming support for the GoFundMe appeal."
Shelly's funeral is set to take place on Wednesday morning. Her family has asked mourners to wear bright colours to celebrate her life.
In lieu of flowers, they are asking for donations to be made to Air Ambulance NI, whose quick response gave Shelly the best possible chance after the accident.

Children orphaned after father killed in Air India plane crash days after mother dies

A father returning home after scattering his wife's ashes was among the victims of the Air India crash, leaving his two young children suddenly orphaned. Flight 171 was carrying 242 people when it struck a medical college hostel less than a minute after taking off from Ahmedabad airport, in western India. Twenty-nine people on the ground were killed, taking the total number of victims to 270. A hospital official confirmed 270 bodies have been recovered from the crash site, but DNA testing is being conducted to identify the bodies. Just one passenger, a British man from Leicester, survived what has become the worst aviation crash in a decade. Among the victims, 37-year-old Arjun Patoliya had been visiting India to fulfil his wife Bharti's "final wish" to be laid to rest in her hometown of Gujarat. Bharti had died just over two weeks ago, following a "courageous battle with cancer". A GoFundMe page, set up to raise funds for their two children, says: "Arjun left to bid farewell to his wife, never returned to the children they both raised. "Now, these two beautiful young girls have been left without parents - their world turned upside down in just over two weeks." A fundraiser, which has topped more than a quarter of a million pounds, confirms all money raised will go directly into a legal trust, "to ensure every penny is dedicated to the girls' needs". 3:24 Black box has been found India's aviation ministry says workers have recovered the digital flight data recorder - one of two black boxes on the plane, from the rooftop of the building where it crashed. This box has data on engine and control settings, so will be able to show if there was a loss of engine power or lift after takeoff. The investigation will initially focus on the engine, flaps and landing gear, a source told Reuters on Friday. A possible bird-hit is not among the key areas of focus, the source said, adding that teams of anti-terror experts were part of the investigation process. There is no information yet on the cockpit voice recorder, the other black box, which will be a crucial part of understanding what caused the plane to crash. The country's civil aviation regulator has ordered Air India to do additional maintenance and enhanced safety inspections of its Boeing 787-8 and 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft equipped with General Electric's GEnx engines.

Brit tourist drowns in Cyprus hotel pool while playing with grandchildren

A British dad drowned in a hotel pool while playing with his grandchildren - just hours before he was due to watch his son get married. John Fazackerley, 60, failed to resurface during game in the water with the youngsters and, although guests and paramedics dashed to perform CPR, the retired builder died. John had flown to Paphos in Cyprus where his son Sean's wedding to fiancée Vicky, which went ahead the next day and where guests paid their respects to John. Sean, 30, and his family are now working to bring John's body home and hold his funeral, which altogether will cost thousands of pounds. Paying tribute to his dad, Sean, who is an IT manager, said: "He was a very family-orientated man and his final moments were with his grandkids, playing. He loved fishing and spending time with the grandkids and we miss him. Now, we are just trying to support my mum and she's moved in with us for a bit." The GoFundMe page for donations to bring John's body to the UK has raised more than £5,000 so far. There has, though, been some confusion over the postmortem in Cyprus, the family says. The poignant fundraiser reads: "Very suddenly while on holiday for his son's wedding in Paphos, John passed away, his last moments were spent with his grandkids and loved ones. "We are asking if anyone can help how big or small to donate towards getting John home back in the Uk and towards funeral costs. We appreciate everyone's love, support and respect for all the family at this very difficult time." Sean, from Cheshire, claims resort staff struggled to locate a defibrillator - and when they finally did, none of them knew how to use it on Sunday May 25. A family member used the device in the end before paramedics arrived, added Sean. When relatives arrived at hospital, personnel demanded John's passport details which the family didn't have to hand because the documents were securely stored in a safe in the hotel room. As they tried to locate the passports, Sean told MailOnline how his mother, Julie, was the only one allowed in to the hospital with his father. Sean and Vicky decided to go ahead with the wedding. Sean said his dad had been particularly excited for an ice cold beer following the ceremony, and so in his honour they placed a family snap of the retired builder next to a cooler of beer and drank in his honour at the party.
