Anger as fair ride firm returns to scene of Birmingham crash
Two women injured in a fairground ride crash have spoken of their anger after learning the company involved was operating another ride in the same place.Thirteen people were hurt when the 55m (180ft) City Star Flyer on Centenary Square, Birmingham, lurched backwards before crashing to the ground on 12 December.The incident is being investigated by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), but Danter Attractions, which operated the ride, has been running another on the square during Spring Fun Fest, which started on 11 April.The firm said it would comment due to the ongoing investigation, but that the safety of its customers remained "paramount".
A Birmingham City Council spokesperson said all the necessary safety processes had been followed for the latest event.BBC employee Louise Brown was among those who crashed to the ground in last year's incident, suffering injuries to her face, legs and arms.After learning Danter Attractions was involved in the Spring Fun Fest, she told BBC Midlands Today: "I feel that it's disrespectful to the victims of the Star Flyer accident."There were 13 of us on that ride, we are all still suffering from ongoing physical injuries, as well as the mental and emotional injuries."
She said injuries to her legs still affected her, and that she had been taking medication for anxiety."We were very, very fortunate that we weren't low enough to actually crash into anything, we just hit the floor," she added.Nadiya Allom was on the City Star Flyer with her brother Syek and sister Radiya when the incident happened.The women were hit by flying glass while Syek crashed into the ticket booth, injuring his head.
Ms Allom said her back still hurt from the crash and the mental trauma she suffered had left her with a fear of fairground rides."My goal last year was to be more adventurous, but I'm more limited now due to that event so I have been affected quite a bit," she said.Ms Allom accused Danter Attractions of not having a "sense of care" and said nobody had been in touch with her about the progress of the HSE investigation."I think it's nonsensical that they're back so soon," she added.An HSE spokesperson said the investigation was still ongoing and it was currently reviewing technical findings.Following December's incident, two people, aged 55 and 21, were arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice and obstructing officers. They were later released under investigation.

Edinburgh funfair closes after children injured in waltzer crash
A funfair in Edinburgh has closed early after three children were injured when part of a ride came loose and crashed into a of the Galactic Carnival at Westside Plaza in Wester Hailes said they had taken the decision to shutter the attraction following the incident on the waltzer ride on Saturday children, aged seven, 12 and 13, were taken to hospital for treatment on minor injuries but were subsequently Scotland and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) are investigating. Public safety at our events has always been, and continues to be, our top priority."This incident is now being investigated by third party inspection bodies and the HSE."We have decided to close the event to allow for investigation to take place." Tickets for future dates will be refunded automatically.A Police Scotland spokesperson said inquiries were a statement, the HSE added: "HSE is aware of the incident and making inquiries."

He told how his kids were "very, very lucky" not to have suffered any serious injuries during the dramatic ordeal. In footage, filmed by one of the youngsters, their terrified screams can be heard as the ride swerves off the rails and ploughs into a nearby speaker. Mr McNulty shared his experience on social media, writing: "It then smashed about the place crashing into the side off the track, thankfully there was a heavy large speaker that they collided with or they would have been through the whole thing and then the ending would have been a completely different story ( a thought I can't stop thinking about). "The shows continued to go (not the Waltzers) but place should have been shut down for a full inspection. "It was like something you see in the movies and my kids are very, very lucky that they managed to get out of this still walking." GCE said it "sincerely apologises" to the families impacted by the incident and insisted that it is "working tirelessly to assist in the ongoing investigation" into what happened. Officials have since decided to shut the event down to allow third-party investigators to take a closer look. In a statement, GCE said: "We are truly sorry for the distress caused by the incident at our event. Public safety at our events has always been, and continues to be, our top priority. "All rides at our events undergo extensive safety testing in line with government guidelines, including daily safety checks, and are also inspected by an independent third party safety inspection body (the Amusement Device Inspection Procedures Scheme, or Adips). Edinburgh fairground apologises and closes after waltzer flew off tracks at high speed
Organisers confirmed the event would be closed while an investigation takes place. An Edinburgh fairground has closed down and issued an apology after a waltzer came off the tracks and crashed at high speed during a family day out. On Saturday, May 10, dad-of-three Kevin McNulty and his partner Brooke were with his children, Kayla, 13, Leona, 12, and Codie, 7, at Galactic Carnival in Westside Plaza Wester Hailes, when the terrifying incident occurred. Panic soon set in while the children were enjoying the waltzer ride, as while the cars spun around at pace, Kevin's kids' car came off the track. The children could be heard screaming in terror in the footage, with the clip ending as the car came to a stop and Kevin raced around to be with his children. Speaking to the Record, Kevin explained how he was in the car behind with Brooke when the incident happened. He said: "I just noticed the children's car spinning our way, but it didn't stop and just smashed off us and then went flying past. "I didn't think and just jumped up and off the ride while it was still going at full pelt without even thinking. I ran around towards where the car had landed and thankfully they were alright and hadn't suffered any injuries. "Even today I am still in complete shock. I feel sick just thinking about it and how bad it could all have gone. We are all just extremely lucky that the children weren't badly hurt." Posting about the incident initially, Kevin said: 'Last night we were at these shows at Wester Hailes three kids were on the waltzers and then the unthinkable happened. "Going full pelt and not slowing down their car came completely off and then went flying into our car and then smashed about the place crashing into the side off the track. "Thankfully there was a heavy large speaker that they collided with or they would have been through the whole thing and then the ending would have been a completely different story. I can't stop thinking about it.' He continued: 'The shows continued to go, but not the waltzers. The place should have been shut down for a full inspection. It was like something you see in the movies and my kids are very, very lucky that they managed to get out of this still walking.'
