Code of Silence viewers issued the same complaint minutes into the latest episode on Monday (May 19).
Created by Hijack's Catherine Moulton, the six-part series sees Strictly Come Dancing star Rose Ayling-Ellis in the lead role of Alison Woods, a deaf worker who has spent years working in a police canteen.
Alison's life is turned upside down when her lip-reading skills catch the attention of DS Ashleigh Francis (Charlotte Ritchie) and DI James Marsh (Andrew Buchan).
The detectives recruit Alison for a covert operation in which she must monitor a dangerous gang who are plotting a high-stakes heist.
The character's hearing loss is central to the story, offering rare on-screen representation of deafness in a primetime drama.

The drama began on Sunday, May 18 and saw Alison begin helping the police with their investigations. She is soon caught up in the criminal world as she secretly delves deeper into the case.
During the second episode on Monday, DI Marsh is stunned to learn of Alison's connection to the investigation.
"You've risked the entire operation.. I should arrest you, I should arrest you for misconduct," he declared. "I don't want your help, I don't want anything from you. It's not safe for you to be anywhere near this station."
Elsewhere, Alison continues to grow closer to Liam Barlow (Kieron Moore), one of the main suspects in the gang case.

"This is a frustrating watch," one person wrote, with another adding: "I'm on tenterhooks over here. What's she playing at?"
A third said: "Alison doesn't know what she's getting herself into," with another sharing: "I've really tried but I'm just not feeling it… next."
A fifth viewer echoed the sentiment, saying: "It's both great and totally f****** ridiculous at the same time."

Emmerdale actor leaves fans in 'bits' as he breaks down at Soap Awards
Fans watching the British Soap Awards on TV spotted the emotional moment. Emmerdale fans were left emotional whilst watching the British Soap Awards as long-time cast member Jeff Hordley, who plays Cain Dingle, broke down in tears during a powerful tribute. The glittering took place at London's Hackney Empire on Saturday (May 31) but aired on TV on Thursday night. On the evening a Memorial section was included in the ceremony to honour late soap icons who are sadly no longer with us. Among the stars who were remembered were Meg Johnson, Kenneth Cope, Anita Carey, and finally Emmerdale legend Steve Halliwell, who played Zak Dingle, writes The Mirror. Steve, who passed away in December 2023 at the age of 77, played the much-loved patriarch of the Dingle family for almost thirty years. The star first appeared in the ITV soap in 1994, and then went on to be featured in more than 2,400 episodes of Emmerdale. His tribute featured a moving montage of his work, which was accompanied by a live piano instrumental. As Halliwell's final clip played, cameras panned to Jeff Hordley, who plays Zak's son in the soap. The actor was visibly emotional and looked as if he was wiping away tears from his eyes, which prompted a heartfelt reaction from fans on social media. One viewer wrote: "Aww, you could see at the end there seeing Steve affected Jeff." Another affected fan added: "Broke me that Steve Halliwell with Jeff Hordley." Steve Halliwell passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones, according to a statement released by his family in 2023. They said: "He went to sleep, peacefully with his loved ones around him. He was making us laugh to the end, the most amazing father and grandfather you could ever wish for." ITV also released a touching tribute at the time, saying: "Steve will forever be synonymous with Emmerdale. The proud defender and head of the Dingle family. Heart and humour in all he did, it has been and always will be impossible not to smile when you think of him." Aside from Emmerdale, Halliwell also appeared in popular shows including Coronation Street, Heartbeat, All Creatures Great and Small, and Cracker. However, it was his portrayal of farmer Zak Dingle that he is primarily remembered for. He previously opened up about his family's financial hardships during his childhood, admitting that his mum couldn't even afford to buy him a bacon sandwich. Steve shared: "When I first went on this walk there was a small café in the woods known as Nab's Wife (a corruption of the area originally known as Nab's Wharfe), where you could get a refreshing cup of tea and a Mars bar. You could also get a bacon butty, but we never had enough money for such 'luxuries'. On one occasion I persuaded mum to give Clive and me enough money for a bacon butty each, but when we got to the café it was all boarded up and, sadly, never reopened." He was homeless and even imprisoned for "wandering" under the Vagrancy Act early on in his adult life before he went on to find solace in acting and made a name for himself as the formidable head of the Dingle family. People left shocked after realising what the voice of Sainsbury's self-checkout tills sounds like in real life - as she reveals how she landed the gig
The woman who is the voice behind Sainsbury's self-service tills has revealed how she landed the job - and has left people shocked at how she sounds in real life. Alison, a voice actress from Essex, tells customers when to scan, pay, and package their shopping every single day. She has been the voiceover at the supermarket giant's self-service tills for the last two years after successfully being selected for the job. Revealing how she scored the gig on social media, Alison told viewers that she beat countless other candidates to bag the role, winning over shoppers during a trial period for having the 'least annoying voice'. Viewers were fascinated to see the face of the most recognisable voice in retail but even more surprised by what Alison's day-to-day voice sounds like. Speaking on TikTok, the actress and model explained that she is set to be the voiceover the self-service tills until 2028, having signed a five-year contract with Sainsbury's in 2023. 'I actually got this job through a modelling agent and not a voiceover agent,' she said in a video, which has since gathered thousands of views from intrigued shoppers. 'She basically looks after Argos, Habitat, Sainsbury's and they all come under the same umbrella,' she said. 'I've actually done a few voiceover jobs for Argos in the past and she asked me if I wanted to but put forward for the Sainsbury's self checkout tills, I thought, this might be good because I know they like my voice, they've used it before.' She sent her voice tape off to Sainsbury's at the beginning of January 2023 and was told a month later that she'd been shortlisted for the position. It wasn't until April that she was called in to record her voice over. Her voice was tested against rival candidates as part of a trial period to discover which tone shoppers favoured. 'There was lots of other artists in the mix that were shortlisted and that do a lot of kind of trials with the voices in the store itself to see which voices people preferred and which voices sounded the least annoying.' After a two month trial period, Alison then discovered that it was her voice that had come out top against rivals. 'Eventually after two months they decided they wanted to go forward with me,' she said with a smile on her face. When the day of filming came round, Alison was sent a script consisting of 'about 20 lines', which she was made to do 'lots of different versions of'. 'I actually did three extra record days where they weren't happy with things or they wanted to change a line or they just wanted more options. 'I actually recorded it here at home where I've got my own set up and a professional microphone but I didn't go into a recording studio. It was all done at my home.' Recordings were then signed off in July 2023, with Alison signing a five-year contract to have her voice used in tills up until 2028. 'It'll be my voice in Sainsbury's tills, I'm not sure everyone's happy about that but there it is,' she joked. In another video she revealed how she was compensated, explaining that she received a 'buyout fee' on top of a day rate. A buyout fee means that Alison isn't able to work for any of Sainsbury's competitors during the period for which she is contracted. 'I'm not allowed to work for any competitors for the length of time that Sainsbury's have bought me - my voice or my face. So I can't work for Tesco or anyone else for five years.' Due to her contract, Alison was unable to disclose how much she earned for being the voice of Sainsbury's self-checkouts, though, she confirmed she does not receive a fee every time someone uses a Sainsbury's till as some had suggested. Alongside her Sainsbury's gig, Alison has also modelled for other British companies, including McDonald's, technology supplier, Bosch, food manufacturer, Chicago Town and coffee makers, Vacbrew. Commenters rushed to have their say on Alison's voiceover, with many jokingly apologising for 'cursing' at her at the till. Commenters rushed to have their say on Alison's voiceover, with many jokingly apologising for 'cursing' at her at the till One wrote: 'I'd never even heard the Essex twang until now. I'm going back to Sainsbury's to check it out again. This is the best claim to fame.' 'I'm sorry for all the terrible things I've said to you and all the awful names I've called you,' another joked. 'I didn't know this was a real voice, I thought it was AI. I feel more connected now,' another wrote. 'As a manager at Sainsbury's I feel like I know you on a personal level!,' one viewer remarked. Just a few weeks ago, the supermarket giant made a major change to its self-service checkouts, installing cameras on machines as part of an effort to tackle shoplifting. Cameras record customers when using the tills to ensure that each item is scanned. Shoppers who bag an item which they have not scanned will be shown the footage with the message 'Looks like that last item didn't scan. Please check you scanned it correctly before continuing'. The preventative measure follows a rise in shoplifting which saw police log 516,971 incidents last year - up from 429,873 in 2023. It has been met with mixed reactions from customers, with one claiming they were presented with the warning message because a packet of basil they were trying to purchase was 'too light'.
