Red Sox Announce Masataka Yoshida News After Five Game Winning Streak
The Boston Red Sox are currently on a five-game winning streak as they continue their homestand against the Colorado Rockies.

In exciting news for fans, Masataka Yoshida is set to make his season debut at designated hitter during the series finale against Colorado.
After completing a five-game rehab assignment, Yoshida returned to Boston on Monday and is anticipated to provide a boost to the lineup. Though he may not command the same star power as Alex Bregman, Yoshida is known for his quality at-bats from the left side, making him a valuable asset for the Red Sox.
He will primarily serve as the designated hitter against right-handed pitchers, sharing that role with Rob Refsnyder.

Yoshida, 30, underwent right shoulder labral repair in the offseason. While he participated as a DH during Spring Training, he was not cleared in time to join the team at the start of the season. This issue became particularly relevant with Rafael Devers, who had been focusing solely on the DH position until he was traded to the San Francisco Giants.

To accommodate Yoshida on the roster, MassLive's Chris Cotillo reports that outfielder Nate Eaton, has been optioned to Triple-A Worcester.
Last season, Yoshida played in 108 games, finishing with a slash line of .280/.349/.415, including 10 home runs and 56 RBIs.

Though, as WEEI's Rob Bradford tells it, the Red Sox's failure to add another frontline starter wasn't for a lack of trying. They reportedly offered two top-100 prospects to the Minnesota Twins in exchange for All-Star starting pitcher Joe Ryan. While a deal couldn't be struck, Boston offered various packages that included middle infielder Franklin Arias, outfielder Jhostynxon Garcia, and left-handed pitcher Payton Tolle for Ryan. Arias ranks 33rd on top 100 prospects list. Garcia and Tolle ranked 88th and 92nd, respectively. Boston also registered an interest in trading for Miami's Sandy Alcantara, who, like Ryan, didn't get moved before the trade deadline passed on July 31. 'He's able to do it,' said Red Sox manager Alex Cora. 'Just wait on pitches and hit it off the wall. The patience is there, and now you can see it — he's able to go the other way against lefties.' However, by the last week in June, Anthony had ascended into a full-time role against lefties. And when Masataka Yoshida returned on July 9 and created a logjam in the outfield, Cora made it clear: Anthony would be in the lineup virtually every day, regardless of the opponent or who else would need to sit as a result. 'The more you're in there, the better you feel on a day-to-day basis, and the more comfortable you feel as you see more of those lefties,' Anthony said. 'And credit to [Cora] for putting me in there and continuing to trust me against both sides.' Anthony has started all but one game since the All-Star break, logging starts in right field on days Wilyer Abreu is out of the lineup, and starting in left field on days when Jarren Duran either plays in center field or sits.
