Lewis County crash claims life of driver
TOWN OF TURIN, N.Y. (WWTI) – A Monday afternoon crash in Lewis County has claimed the life of one person.
According to the Lewis County Sheriff's Office, a 1988 Ford dump truck operated by 49-year-old David Kantor was traveling eastbound of Lyman Road. Authorities said that Lyman failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway.

The dump truck then struck a parked trailer and an excavator located on the Gomer Hill Road.
Kantor was transported to a nearby landing zone and where airlifted to SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse. However, he later died as a result of his injuries.
The investigation is currently ongoing to Sheriff's officials.
The New York State Collision Reconstruction Unit and Commercial Vehicle Unit, Lyons Falls Ambulance, Turin Fire Department, Town of Turin Highway Department and Groff's Towing all assisted on the scene.

Orbeez gun leads to aggravated assault arrest in Siloam Springs
Siloam Springs, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — A Gentry man was arrested on May 31 after allegedly pointing a toy gun at a woman in Siloam Springs, according to court documents. Donnovan Hayes, 18, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault. No formal charges have been filed as of June 5. According to a probable cause affidavit, police responded around 4:31 p.m. to a report of an individual with a gun in Siloam Springs. Officers found gray Ford Fusion matching the suspect vehicle description at the scene. After being briefly held at gunpoint, all three occupants in the Ford were detained without incident. A white object resembling a firearm, later identified as an Orbeez gun, fell from the vehicle as one person exited, according to the affidavit. An alleged victim, parked nearby, told police the front passenger, Hayes, pointed what appeared to be a gun at them, leaving her and her children frightened. According to the affidavit, that Hayes denied pointing the gun at the victim. Man stole vehicle from Harrison County dealership, deputies say
CLARKSBURG, (WBOY) — A man was arrested Thursday afternoon after deputies with the Lewis County Sheriff's Office said he stole a vehicle from a Harrison County car lot. On Thursday, the Lewis County Sheriff's Office received a report from Harrison County regarding a stolen 2024 Jeep Wagoneer that was reportedly stolen from Black Bear Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM, according to a press release. The vehicle was reported to have no registration and was being driven by a white man wearing a hat and camouflage jacket with 'distinctive red marker stripes on his arm.' At about 1:50 p.m., law enforcement officers said they saw a vehicle matching the description driving north on Center Avenue in Weston. Lewis County deputies said they initiated a traffic stop near the intersection with East 4th Street, but the driver fled the scene. Man charged after allegedly shooting victim in head in Barbour County Deputies pursued the vehicle, which ran through an occupied intersection before stopping on the north end of Center Avenue, the release said. The driver, identified as Joshua W. Merritt, 38, was then taken into custody. Merritt has been charged with felony fleeing with reckless indifference and grand larceny. He's being held in the Central Regional Jail. As of Thursday evening, his mugshot does not appear in the West Virginia Division of Corrections system. Ormond Beach biker, 60, killed when car pulls in front of him on S.R. 415
An Ormond Beach motorcyclist was killed this morning when he slammed into a sedan that pulled in front of him on State Road 415, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The 60-year-old Ormond Beach man was heading south on State Road 415 on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle when a Ford Fusion pulled out in front of him at Fort Smith Boulevard, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The motorcycle hit the left side of the Ford, which was driven by a 48-year-old Deltona man. First responders took the 60-year-old to HCA Florida Lake Monroe Hospital, but authorities pronounced him dead at the hospital. The driver of the Fusion had serious injuries, and first responders took him to the same hospital. The crash happened about 7:16 a.m., and the Florida Highway Patrol is investigating. Authorities have cleared the roadblock at the intersection. The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet.
