VARANASI: Pranav Kumar, the Chief Postmaster General of Uttar Pradesh, announced that the Indian Postal Department rolled out Advanced Postal Technology 2.0 (APT 2.0) to enhance its services, offering more benefits compared to the old system. Pranav Kumar visited the Varanasi Cantt head post office on Tuesday. He said that with the introduction of APT 2.0, services will become faster and more transparent. India Post made several significant changes in APT 2.0 (Advanced Postal Technology). This initiative is part of India Post's IT 2.0 digital transformation, aimed at making postal services modern, faster, and more customer-centric. During the visit, the postmaster general of the Varanasi region, Colonel Vinod Kumar , explained that the major changes and features of APT 2.0 will be evident in the workflow. The new system offers real-time tracking of parcels and mail, allowing customers to track their shipments more accurately. APT 2.0 makes digital payments even easier. Digital payment options like UPI, NEFT, and RTGS now work more smoothly, providing convenience for customers. According to Colonel Vinod Kumar, the system offers a modern and user-friendly interface, making it easier for both postal employees and customers to use the services. APT 2.0 integrates various postal services on a single platform, such as cash, cheque, and stamp management. The goal of this new system is to increase transaction speed and reduce wait times, providing a better experience for customers. Under APT 2.0, postal services are being fully brought into digital and online modes, making them more efficient and transparent. Pranav Kumar said that in the initial phase, due to some technical glitches and server-related issues, customers faced long queues and delays in some places. However, India Post deployed dedicated support teams to resolve these issues and hopes that the system will soon function smoothly. The Chief Postmaster General praised the Varanasi region, saying that under the leadership of Colonel Vinod Kumar, the sale of Rakhi envelopes set a new record, surpassing all previous records, with sales reaching over 1.5 lakh Rakhi envelopes this year compared to 2,900 last year. He said that the purpose of this visit was to understand the ground realities at the post office to address the issues faced by the staff and the public.
